However, Xbox Live Gold subscribers will be getting more bonuses than just hate speech when the service's first Primetime title launches this spring. Yes, according to the game's official page on Xbox.com, 1 vs. 100 is going to be free for all Gold members. This is great news, as we probably wouldn't have bought it otherwise. No Saget, no sale.

I have personal experience with the game (currently in a closed beta), and I can assure you you don't have time to look up the answers. You have maybe 5 seconds to read the question and choose an answer.
To be honest, it works quite well. We spent many hours one weekend playing it as a large group. (that's about the only thing you can do to cheat... have other knowledgeable people sitting next to you and hope someone knows the answer)
As to some of the questions: Yes, it is supported by ads, by way of 30 second "commercials" that play between rounds or whatever they're called. I really think it works quite well.
As to the prizes... let me assure you they do not suck. Since it's only a beta, they weren't giving them the real prizes, but winners were getting 2000+ points and arcade games and the like. They are definitely REAL prizes, and not useless fud.

I have the same problem with the game. What's gonna stop someone having their friend googling all the answers to make sure they win whatever prize they are offering? It seems to be a big hole in the game. Even with a time limit, someone just needs to be a fast typer, or at the very least have a group of 10-15 people in the room. That leaves it more open to getting the answer right because you have 10-15 people seeing the question. In that case it would not be "1" vs. 100. I just see a whole bunch of holes in this, and am wondering if they have done anything to limit the cheating, since they are giving out real prizes. Or the prize is going to be a "free crazy T-shirt for your Avatar"! WOO PEE!!!

If you've got your laptop next to you, how would you get anything wrong ever?
Posted: Apr 27th 2009 5:56PM Tephlon said
yes, there is a very short timer. I do believe it's something like 5 seconds, although we never timed it. I was able to participate a bit in the beta and I can't see how anyone can read the question and type it in google fast enough to get an answer.
Another thing I thought was cool that i didn't mention in my post above is that there is a live 'Emcee' type person during the live game that talks to gamers over their headset and stuff. They were doing it in the beta and it worked really well.
I'm personally excited for the game.

If a gold membership is Au-some, does that mean silver memberships are Ag-gravating?

hooray gold! i dont care about silver accounts: if youre too cheap to pay 50 bucks a year for live you dont get to complain about the service. i wish it cost More (for various reasons) but that'll prolly never happen.
ive been dyin for something to do with my avatar but 1vs100 is showing up really late to the party.. if i dont get some more xbla games to play that feature avatars (not just as a gamerpic) im gonna stop playin with it so much...

Surely you can easily cheat to win these 'real prizes' by just having a laptop next to you as you play and google the answers

Is 1 vs. 100 a game about PS3 fanboys vs 360 fans? Zing!

This is great news. I was interested to try this but really wasn't up for paying anything over a pittance. Luckily for me, 0 < pittance

What they should do is have the host wear an eye patch and have a huge scar on his chest...

the lost appeal has nothing to do with this, it has to do w/ paying a yearly fee for service that feels more and more like it should be free and no, silly games like this don't change my mind because I'm not mentally handicapped (that's the proper term)
