Burnout Paradise: Cops and Robbers is a steal at $10
It looks like Criterion has finally figured out how much to charge for its upcoming Cops and Robbers DLC. The multiplayer-only premium DLC for Burnout Paradise will release this Thursday and will cost $9.99 / €9.99 / £7.99 / 800
. The expansion not only adds the CTF-inspired online mode, but will also add 33 new international police cars to your Junkyard.
At $10, Cops and Robbers looks to be a much better value than all of Criterion's previously released DLC. The price is (finally) right -- let's hope the trend continues for the upcoming Big Surf Island.

I can't wait for this. I got my Elite license about a month ago, and haven't touched the game since. The normal online just doesn't do it for me.
MLS @ Apr 27th 2009 4:02PM
I only got this game about 2 months ago and am just a few roads ruled from 100% everything (and I only used a faq once to find the jumps. Quite proud of that).
This will be the first purchase I'll be making on my 360 as well. Love this game!
Brucie_K @ Apr 27th 2009 3:33PM
Not impressed.
For $10 I can get the Orange Box. Which has, like, 5 games.
giantenemycrab @ Apr 27th 2009 3:40PM
Your grasp on logic is impeccable.
Latin_Trident @ Apr 27th 2009 3:58PM
Though I love the Orange Box, I will say the value of purchasing it has been greatly undervalued!
The Orange Box and Burnout Paradise are completely different games. Burnout Paradise is a great game and this addon will make it much better.
Now if only you could race Striders in City 17, that would be a heck of an add on!
Mickey @ Apr 27th 2009 4:12PM
Not anymore, the $10 orange box deal was only for the weekend.
eNrique @ Apr 27th 2009 4:35PM
You could also get 10 $1 dollar menu meats.
I'm lovin' it
Dr. Flex @ Apr 27th 2009 4:46PM
I like the Wendy's Junior Bacon Cheeseburger, actually.
ill trooper @ Apr 27th 2009 5:38PM
Why make it an either/or situation? They're both good values, so you can play both and be happy.
Einhanderkiller @ Apr 27th 2009 6:37PM
Latin_Trident, you can race watermelons with Half-Life 2. I think that's just as good.
iluvmyzune @ Apr 27th 2009 3:39PM
If only every game was supported by the devs like this. This is a must buy!!!
HT UK @ Apr 27th 2009 3:39PM
800 Points is £6.80 for those wondering, so I'm guessing the £7.99 price is for PS3, wonder why its more expensive on PS3.
And good point about Orange Box, I got it this past weekend for £5.66 off Steam, and when you compare it to XBLM's prices...wow
drdre74 @ Apr 27th 2009 3:39PM
$10 bucks for cars that are already in the game just repainted? Yeah its a cool mode but damn. These DLC prices are starting to get out of hand. Ok i'm saying all this and I'll end up still buying it lol!
drdre74 @ Apr 27th 2009 3:46PM
Dang forgot the Killzone 2: Steel and Titanium Pack comes out this week also. Burnout may have to get the back burner this week.
Nytemare @ Apr 27th 2009 6:52PM
Isn't it a new gametype?
G3ORGE @ Apr 27th 2009 3:48PM
this should of been free
Darlaten @ Apr 27th 2009 8:09PM
Oh yeah, and why don't they just give you the game for free; buy your PS3 for you and make your mortgage and car payments while they're at it. Grow up. It costs money to produce/develop games.
Matt_M @ Apr 27th 2009 4:55PM
They already released a whole extra free game with the bikes addition, to say nothing of the huge amount of post-release support, including new multiplayer modes and graphical overhauls far beyond normal patches.
Yeah, I passed on the overpriced retro cars and the like, but I'd say this is a fair price for the cops add-on, and a way of saying thanks for over a year of great post-release support.
Dante Sparda @ Apr 27th 2009 3:55PM
I think this is over priced, just because they released some challenges and bikes for free doesn't mean they should be charging this much for a game mode which sounds just like Marked Man which is already in the game....plus the "new 33 cars" is just current cars with police skins added on, they are not new cars. This DLC should have been $4 just like the overpriced Party Mode should have been free and put in the game in the first place($10 for split screen multiplayer? lame!) and what about the toy motorcycle being 240 points when all the other toy cars are 160 each, I think all the toy cars should have been priced the same and should have been 100 points each since the much bigger and better Legendary Cars were 160 each(except the Delorean which should've been priced the same as well)
I am not looking forward to the price on Big Surf Island and just because they released bikes and challenges for free does not make it okay to over charge for this stuff.
why not the LS2LS7? @ Apr 27th 2009 4:25PM
It's not like marked man.
why not the LS2LS7? @ Apr 27th 2009 6:48PM
Um, it's not like marked man. Marked man is called "marked man". This is basically a copy of "Calling All Cars", which is essentially capture the flag.
So no, it's not marked man.
Ex14 @ Apr 27th 2009 7:04PM
My Dear sir,
Party mode doesn't even have SPLITSCREEN T-T
Maulok @ Apr 27th 2009 4:02PM
Great value, but my backlog is still too deep for a return trip to Paradise City. I have to polish off Fallout 3 and Okami first.
Josh @ Apr 27th 2009 4:05PM
No offline mode.....
No thanks for now. Just wanted to crash some cop cars.
natureboy46 @ Apr 27th 2009 4:26PM
I watched the Crash FM podcast this morning and the artist mentioned that you can actually use any of the cars in offline modes. It's just that the Cops and Robbers mode itself is online only, which makes sense.
Heavytoka @ Apr 27th 2009 4:10PM
Ten dollars isn't bad, i can probably find that in my couch.
pibs @ Apr 27th 2009 4:22PM
That must be some expensive couch!
Heavytoka @ Apr 27th 2009 4:36PM
lol thats the best part about having parties, ppl lose money in your couch and you get free Add on Packs for games
Danie @ Apr 27th 2009 4:42PM
I will get this. No doubt about it.
skfireboy @ Apr 27th 2009 4:45PM
Can't wait for this mode. I absolutely love Burnout Paradise and if anyone who posts on this story doesn't love Burnout Paradise I say you have to find a better use for your time. Go do some volunteer work or something
Dropeti @ Apr 27th 2009 4:55PM
Indeed, I feel like they're trying to steal me.
Marky264 @ Apr 27th 2009 5:27PM
How is this a steal? Not impressed. I was expecting it to be no more than £6.29.
I've bought all the other packs and that thinking the Boost Specials (£3.99) was rip off for me as I've used the cars 2 times since I bought them. This pack should be priced at £6.29 for the UK not £7.99.
Once again how the bloody hell is $10 equivalent to £7.99 Stupid UK PSN Prices really ticking me off. Ah well i'll be a sucker and pay for it at the price anyways.
ihatereading @ Apr 27th 2009 6:09PM
Maybe if the new Killzone 2 map pack wasnt coming this week as well, I'd consider buying this. Now Ill have to think about it (I dont consider 10 bucks a steal either).
Deaddy @ Apr 27th 2009 6:15PM
I'm gonna pass on this, a little cheaper and I'd have gone for it. I'm sick of waiting for the damn island expansion, I would rather have a full sequel with an entire new city, not a bunch of new paint jobs and an expansion that's only the size of downtown.
Tep @ Apr 27th 2009 6:31PM
I wouldn't spend a dime on this crap and neither should anyone. When they start charging for sidequest in games like Oblivion remember you made it that way.
Kizzle @ Apr 27th 2009 6:32PM
Too expensive. It's like they are overcharging now (between this, the toy cars, and the party mode) to make up for having free stuff before. This is a 5 dollar add-on at best.
Not to mention a miniscule percentage of Burnout Paradise owners will buy this, so it's not exactly going to be simple to get online games in this mode going, especially for the first few weeks.
Ex14 @ Apr 27th 2009 7:08PM
Why are so many people complaining?
I find 800 points to be not as bad as the party mode one (now THAT was overpriced.). In fact in the recent slew of stupid/worthless add ons ( READ --> HAWX) I find al least this makes SOME sense.
Hoever with tat being said i'll probably not get this.....unless i find money in my couch like some guy above did.
dogmaticatheist @ Apr 27th 2009 8:00PM
I picked up this game at Target for $20 the other day. I have yet to touch it, but it looks like when I finally get to it I'll be busy for quite a while!
xenocidic @ Apr 28th 2009 8:57AM
is there a volvo police car in the game? that would be hot. i always wanted one painted like that for Forza2
acme @ Apr 28th 2009 11:27AM
big surf was announced along ass time ago and its still not out yet, wtf is the hold up.
also, yey for police chases ;)
Firen @ Jul 5th 2009 10:11AM
So can u buy the cops and robbers thing off the playstation network? Cuz i just got burnout paradise today and i just heard about it now.
What the heck do in it anyway? Police chases would be fun but is that all u get to do?
If u can get it off the network i'll probably get it cuz 33 new cars is pretty good fer 10 bucks
Firen @ Jul 5th 2009 10:10AM
WHERE THE HECK IS THIS FRIGGIN PODCAST! ITS NOT YOUTUBE!
