This is looking pretty sweet, loving the character animations. I really need to find a copy of the first one...always meant to play it but never got around to picking it up.

Hmm, $20 for a new Lost Planet 1 on 360 at EBGames...

http://www.ebgames.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=70791

I hate ebgames, but this I may have to put my hatred on hold for that.

Wow, this looks awesome! This is looking like a must buy for me, especially with 4 player online coop. I have yet to play the first one, will have to pick it up when I get the chance.

That looks fucking awesome, but its runnng off of PC. :( Hopefully it looks the same on 360 and eventually PS3 as well...

[Via Kotaku] (yeah I know, sorry)

"While demonstrating Lost Planet 2 to the gathered writers last week, Takeuchi pointed out it was playing on PC, not Xbox 360. When asked about whether we could expect a PC version of the game he was a little coy. "It is running off a PC now, so there may be something we can announce fairly shortly," he said. And what about the rumored Playstation 3 version? "We are concentrating right now on the 360 version of this game," he said."

What do you expect? Almost all games are developed on a PC first and I hope the PC version of this game won't be too long after the console versions. Even newer arcade systems like the one running Street Fighter 4 is basically a PC and using off the shelf PC parts, using a Core 2 Duo processor, Nvidia graphics card, etc.

Capcom's big PS360 multiplats were all made off a PC engine, basically so that they'd have a neutral platform that was equally compatible with the other two.

Odd enough that it takes so long to get the actual PC versions out...

@Cosmo

I think you're confusing developing on a PC and developing FOR PC....

Of course development is done on a PC. What do you think programmers do? Plus a keyboard into a 360 and start running visual studio 360?

Lost Planet as my first PS3 game. I traded it or sold it later on for something else. Recently re-bought it because I regret letting it go! I love the game! I really think it's very overrated!

Having said that, you can imagine I'm pretty disappointed they haven't announced the sequel to be multiplatform from the start. I'm so used to the game being on my PS3, that when I read the demo was coming to XBLA and saw nothing about PSN, I got irked!

Honestly, if they decide it's not coming to the PS3, Lost Planet 2 will be the reason I buy a 360. I've been avoiding doing so for the couple titles that I want and can't get on the PC, not out of brand loyalty, but just out of the displeasure of spending so much more money just to play a few more games. But Lost Planet 2 could do it for me.

Perhaps you mean "under rated"?

You refused to buy a 360 due to the "displeasure" of spending too much money to play few more games?

How funny, because in reality it's really the same, except the fact it's the complete other way around with the PS3.

Don't be a jackass. I wanted a new console and I wanted a Blu-Ray player. I DIDN'T want to buy both systems. Don't be a tool and start a flame war.

I simply meant that I already spent $400 on one console, I don't want to have to buy another just for a couple exclusives, that's all. I'm sure I would have been happy if I had gotten a 360, but don't tell me it would have cost less - I wanted a Blu-Ray player too, so it would have cost more.
An yeah, I meant "underrated" zzz I blame it on the iPhone :)

Does anyone else find it strange all the love Lost Planet's getting all of a sudden. Suddenly everyone loved the first game when all i ever heard was negative comments about it when it came out.

Personally i thought the first game was amazing fun, although the single player campaign could have been stronger, and the story was very very weak. The multiplayer was one of the best i've ever played in my opinion, so much so that even with the huge lag issues i still played it for months.

As long as Capcom fixes the lag issues this should be fantastic, and it looks like it'll get the credit it deserves this time around.

And did anyone else spot what looked like a bubble shield in this video?

I agree with your second paragraph. Now that I think about it, I don't really remember the story like at all but gameplay was fun, especially in multiplayer.

That's some good looking grass.

The graphics probably won't look this good on the 360 though, since the footage is from the game running on a high-end PC.

As awesome as this looks, there is no chance that I will be able to finish the game. This is probably one of the earlier boss, and just look at how many phases of the fight there is! It's incredibly long! Which means for someone as incompetent as me..well..there is just no hope of success T-T
I guess I can always bank on the other 3 players picking up the slack.

So you can hang onto the sides of the mechs? Finally, more developers are figuring out what's fun and exciting about coop!

That said, I hope this isn't the most exciting fight in the game, because now it's ruined :(

I can't wait til this game comes out. I hope they tone down the snow and the explosions a bit though. I hated seeing snow cover my screen when I'm on the scooter VS and the explosions are a bit exaggerated seeing how I can still see the flashes even if I'm underground.

I've noticed a pattern that Capcom likes to make very black bosses and the glowing red parts are always the weak points. Not necessarily a bad thing, but isn't really thinking out of the box in terms of how to bring an enemy down.

Hmmm.. It was a bit disappointing. You just get knocked down all the time, and your character is a bit slow. I'd like it if you can just fly in with a jet-pack, a la Dark Void. Sure they're different, but it just seems dumb that I have to knocked down all the time because my character didn't bother bringing a jet-pack beforehand. ~ We'll see.

Why does everyone keep saying "MOAR". It seems like alot of sites are throwing this word out. It's under the screen shot on this one.
