Hey, remember when a representative from Dead Rising 2's middleware developer, mental mill, mentioned during a GDC presentation that Dead Rising 2 would have "multiplayer sessions," and then another mental mill representative said the first representative misspoke, and meant to say "multiplatform?" Good. Keep that hilariously convoluted exchange locked away in your mind for a minute.
Capcom development head Keiji Inafune recently confirmed to Eurogamer that Dead Rising 2 will have some form of online multiplayer component. No specifics about the multiplayer offerings have been revealed, though it's nice to finally have a clear answer on the existence of this long obfuscated feature.

having co-op would lose it's feel of the game, I think being swarmed by zombies by yourself gives the sense of loneliness and panic(cough cough* RE5). Personally I think the multi will be surival or racking up kills.

You must have not played the original or something.
From what I remember, most of the game was about finding other people, sticking with them, and helping them get out of the mall while fighting off zombies.

Online co op would be cool.
Local co op would be a gift from the Gods.

Dead Rising wasn't about be scary or atmospheric, it was mostly being about saving people and using goody ways to kill zombies.

I don't think they'll make the same mistake twice. They'll probably find another crucial part of the game they can leave out...
Remember in the original how you save your game in the bathrooms? They probably sell you the "bathroom key" as DLC.

Or maybe they'll sell you the ending. Right before the final boss fight it just cuts to credits.

I'm actually slightly worried that if this got online co-op then I would begin to have massive expectations for it. Competitive multiplayer in the form of deathmatch or something like that doesn't immediately peak any interest in me. I'm sure they'd be able to come up with something creative though.

I think it would have to be some sort of PVE multiplayer, like capture the widget, save the people, defend some object.
Co-op survival mode would be amazing, where you both scout around for food/resources, have communal areas to hoard/share loot, team up to kill minibosses. I can see my self playing that for days.

Co-op would make this game sooo much better, I got bored during the first one and never finished it, but screwing around with friends in co-op would be awesome!

What's with the multiplayer bangwagon going at full speed? Bioshock, then Uncharted, and now DR?
I wouldn't be surprised if multiplayer was made mandatory by next gen by MS/Sony

Awesome, I absolutely loved the first one. Remember playing the game over multiple times cause i wanted to rescue everyone (though i could never find the dude who gives you infinite Molotovs)
Thank god this is Multi-Platform too, I sold my 360 cause it Red Ringed on me 3 times (and all 3 times i sent it in to get repaired). After the third time i decided to sell it and get a PS3 :P Here's hoping none of the DLC is exclusive to any of the consoles!
