Ignition and Tecmo localizing 'Winds of Nostalgio'

Hey, remember Winds of Nostalgio, the Matrix Software/Red Entertainment-developed RPG that Tecmo published in Japan last winter? Don't worry, we had forgotten about it too. But Ignition Entertainment didn't -- the publisher is partnering with Tecmo to release the RPG in North America this September, under the simpler title of Nostalgia.

Afraid it's just another RPG? Here's the description from the press release. "Set in an alternate-reality
version of 19th-century Earth, Nostalgia casts you as Eddie, a headstrong Londoner who amasses a group of memorable companions to traverse the world in his steampunk-inspired zeppelin." It features both turn-based combat with monsters and airship battles.

Ignition seems to be stepping up its game with stuff like this and Muramasa. Is this the influence of new Business Development director Shane Bettenhausen?

Ok...Shane Betenhausen is getting way too much credit for Ignitions acquisitions lately. These deals didnt happen in the last month...come on JC...you know better than that.

Old news, but pretty good game, if you like old-school style RPGs.

Ok, PLEASE tell me I'm not the only one that is instantly reminded of Skies of Arcadia.

Naw, when I first heard about this game I was reminded of Skies of Arcadia also. As well as one of my friends whom I showed the article to.

Yeah, it definitely looks like Skies, but I'm not sure how much it will play like Skies, since the world in "Nostalgia" is just the real world and we already know everything that's in it (not much new stuff to discover).

I've heard that Grandia 1 has that 'discovery of the unknown' vibe that Skies has, though...

But man, "Nostalgia"? Not even Nostalgio? Or Winds of Nostalgia? Or, you know, the perfectly fine original title Winds of Nostalgio?

"Nostalgia" just makes this sound like the title of some (pretentious) classic game compilation thing...

I rememebered Skies of Arcadia at the same time I got my eyes on the image. In fact, I thought that we're going to see something like Skies 2 before I read the post title ;P

Also, that white outfit the girl is wearing is IDENTICAL to Fina's outfit in Skies, check it out:

I don't really think it's just a coincidence... Perhaps they got inspired by Skies? I would, because that's one of the BEST RPGs I've ever played!

I do hope so! Skies of Arcadia was simply amazing, and if Nostalgio follow its steps, we will get one hell of a game for our DSs!!

If Sony Bettenhausen had his way, all the world's Wiis would have been destroyed long ago, along with all the knowledge to build them.
So, no.

I just hope ignition does a better job of this than they did with Lux-Pain. Seriously, when you're localising a visual novel (basically) with almost no 'real gameplay' and a ton of text, you should make sure the text makes sense....

Well, I do loves me some RPG, and steampunk is very 'in' right now. Might have to check this out :)

Oh god please tell me steampunk won't get overly popularized...I don't need to see rich kids running around wearing steampunk attire with no knowledge of the culture...

A bunch of people on the internet being into something does not make something a "culture". There is no such thing as "steampunk culture". Please stop. Stop now. I don't want to start reading about "real steampunk versus trendy steampunk" like we never stop hearing about punk rock or any idiotic trendy crap.
