Fans of Resident Evil (and buying the same game multiple times) will be happy to know that Resident Evil Archives -- the official title for the Wii port of a GameCube remake of a PSOne game -- is slated for a June release, Eurogamer reports. Featuring enhanced Wiimote controls and ... enhanced Wiimote controls, the new-for-Wii version of the game will debut in the US on June 23 for $29.99.

holy crap. What is this Xmas? There are so many titles releasing in June, for all systems, its going to be insane. Didn't these developers look at a calendar before nailing a release date?

Sonuva...Capcom, STOP REMAKING THIS GAME! I've already bought it for Playstation, Gamecube, and DS. #2 is the one that's in serious need of a remake, anyway. Or Code Veronica. But not this one.
I'll still buy it, of course, if the Wii controls are as good as RE4.

Except for the Wii controls, which were pretty excellent on the RE4 Wii-make.

the wii controls on this port are nothing like RE4. RE4 was wii perfection, this is cashing in. The "wii controls" are just likethe GC version, only with the controller split in two, and you move the remote up and down to aim up and down - but there are still only up, down, and straight for aiming. YouTube it. It's not worth it.
The original remake on the GC is the same exact game, and it plays on the wii. It's also the best RE title IMO (yes, I like it better than 4 or 5).

Levi,
I'm actually one of those oddballs, too, so don't feel bad. The GC REmake will always be my favorite Resident Evil game.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have an appointment with Nurse Ratched.

Capcom also herd we liek Pokemans, so we went to their base and they showed us them and we were like "OH EXPLOITABLE" and they said "This was originally a PS3 game, but a Wii is fine too" so then we were all like "I C WUT U DID THERE!" so then we asked for a release date.....FOR GREAT JUSTICE! but Capcom said there was someone in their base killing their d00ds so they'd have to get back with us on that. But at the last moment they pulled an epic maneuver (AKA Barrel Roll) and said we would party hard over the summer.
Also, Milhouse wasn't invited, for obvious reasons

NO!! FINISH THE HAIKU!! OR I'LL ASSIST YOU IN SEPPUKU, WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT!!
But like I've been saying, don't buy it right away... At least check reviews to see if there's really any difference between this and the GC version. It really looks the the changes they've made to the controls are so small and ridiculous that this port will not be nearly as good as the RE4 port compared to the RE4 on GC.

I'd pay $60 for a PS3/360 version of Resident Evil Remake in 1080p.

It's soooo good. Creepiest one by far. Best graphics, best storyline. The old style engine doesn't work as well as the 4/5 engine for action and shooting, but regardless, the RE1 remake is my favorite RE by a long shot.
Keep in mind that I have always liked RE1 the best tho, so maybe my opinion could be balanced out by someone who liked 4/5 the best :)

Dammit. These are some of my favorite games of all time, but I already own them. I was all ready to ignore the Wii versions, but then I heard about the widescreen support, support for GC controllers (wavebird, FTW), and progressive scan and I was sold. Another $60 to Capcom...
Hopefully they'll invest the profits in a new game on a better system.

The Gamecube version already supports widescreen, wavebird, and progressive scan.

Hmmm... are you sure? Widescreen especially? I just checked the manuals and they don't say a thing about it, nor is the "Progressive Scan" icon pictured on the back (as it is on other games like PSO and SSX3). They do mention having state of the art "Stereo" sound and brightness options. That's about it.
I'm well aware of the Wavebird support on the GC, but GC control options (including Wavebird, of course) are always a bonus when it comes to the Wii...

Hey, this might be worth buying since I've never played the original or the remake.
Anyone know if it stands up to the test of time or is it dated because everything that was innovative has already been improved upon in other games? The graphics look decent enough considering it's for the Wii.

listen to this music from the game

this game hasnt lost any of its terror over time.
also since youve never played the original or remake, hopefully you havent had the scary parts spoiled for you.
i would show you some videos of scary parts in the game but i dont want to spoil anything. if you want to view some though just look up resident evil remake on youtube. some good keywords to add are 'lisa trevor' and 'kenneth'
