The PSP revival continues.
According to a new report by IGN, Namco Bandai is bringing Tekken 6 to the PSP. Not only will the PSP version launch alongside the console versions, it will feature exclusive content, such as additional items and stages. Tekken 6 will also feature a "Ghost" Infrastructure mode, which allows players to download and share character data to compete against.
It's great to see Namco Bandai throw PSP some support. So long as the team can match the high standards of Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection, PSP fans have a lot to look forward to.
[Thanks, Jay!]

And the PSP arrives...three years too late.
On the other hand, all of this recent stuff has at least convinced me not to sell mine - even though I don't think it's actually going to save the system.

Tekken 5 was hardly a blockbuster for the PSP, it wasn't a comment just regarding this title - but the general "PSP revival" that's going on right now. Across multiple companies. With multiple games. That's a lot more than one Tekken title.

Yeah. I've never really been into fighting games since they went 3d, and most of the 2d fighters nowadays are created with the intention of being played in tournaments, so mastering them is quite the effort.
Don't get me wrong, DoA STUNK the first time it came out, but the formula was right from DoA2 and beyond.

I agree. The lack of HD alone is making blood shoot out of my eyes.

let me be the first to say HELL YEAH! the year of the psp is 09! seriously, patapon 2 got a 9.5 from IGN. that makes it the highest ranked psp game at the moment and it truly deserves it. the PSP has the most releases i'm looking forward to this year out of any console! :D

It makes me really believe that a PSP2 in some form might be out this year. Perfect way to capitalize on a bunch of good new releases would be to put out a PSP without a UMD drive and (I can hope at least) a second analog stick. But either way, I still carry my PSP-1000 around. It will be nice to use it for something other than a paperweight.

Well I Might get this on PSP INSTEAD of PS3. as long as the PSP version is available on the PSN store at launch that is

I really wish I had taken a photo of the inside of some of the video game stores when I was in Tokyo. Anyone that saw the shear number of titles would never say the PSP was dying. Game stores there make anything in North America look like gaming slums. And that goes for all platforms.

Incredible news. I love that I will be able to play my friends on my PS3 then take their ghosts with me on the bus in the morning on my PSP. I hope that any subsequent patches will also be made available for both versions so that the only differences are pixels. This is truly a win for handheld gamers everywhere!

the same reason SCIV, SFIV, and every other multi-platform game doesn't go to the Wii: it generally isn't a viable platform. If it isn't made by some company working for Nintendo, it's probably gonna be a garbage Wii title.

One Namco staff said it is due to wii's lack of buttons.

Another reason not to buy a PS3, though it'll be hard playing without a joystick.

The only problem comes for people who have a console as well as a psp. I can't afford two versions of the game. If I have to choose between the version on the big screen that my friends will be playing, or the version on the small screen that I'll be playing mostly alone, PSP loses. I got Tekken 5 before a current gen console, and loved the h3ll out of it, but now. . . .I want something I can't get bigger and better somewhere else.
Maybe it's just me having a 360, and no love for plastic instruments, but I'm looking forward more to the portable LBP and Rock Band because they pull on cool things that I don't have easier access to instead of games that are going to be pretty much everywhere.
(yes, Wii and PS2 aside, I know)

Tekken 5? High standards? gotta be kidding.. (although it may have been at the time, I bought it xmas 07) I found it unbalanced, some stupid collision detection & an ass lancingly cheap final boss.. oh & killed my battery in next to no time (got a slim) - Last Tekken I played before was the third game, which I found a better game. if I'm gonna buy these, I want Tekken & Soul Calibur to be WYSIWYG & a decent job at balancing them..

I'm guessing it'll be an amalgamation of both 6 and BR, pretty much like what they did with Tekken 5 and Dark Resurrection.
