I think it was actually a mexican kid that was brought over for better treatment, so I personally don't think that really counts as the first US death.

But let me extend a big good going to mexico as a whole. You guys have just been really useful to us the last few years, with all the drug wars, illegal immigrants, and now swine flu.

@ The Baron:

And the irony is that there are some rumors going around that the Swine Flu came out of a US owned Pig farm in Mexico. At least according to CNN.

@Cyro - I heard on twitter that Swine Flu doesn't even have any relation to pigs in any way shape or form, and that no one really knows why it was named Swine Flu. Twitter seems like a reputable source of information, so I'm going to keep eating pork without worrying about it.

@tmacairjordan87

Really? Let me explain that for you in case your little brain can't handle too much information.

1. Swine Flu comes from a Eurasian strain, it was not originated on Mexico.
2. Drugs If you guys didn't consume all that fucking drugs, we would not have any problem at all from this side, or do you think we are the ones we consume that drugs.

Yeah vote me down all you want, I'm tired and sick of people complaining about how the Swine Flu is Mexico fault when is not, we are doing our best to stop this infection.

@ el serpiente

Assault weapons and grenades are illegal in the U.S. Here's a question for you.

I am a drug dealer.

I can buy a semi-automatic AR-15 in the U.S. for about $1000 right now (less if you want to wait or are lucky), or

I can buy a fully automatic AK-47 from south of Mexico for about $50, or

I can get a free M4 from all the police officers and Mexican army troops that are deserting.

Keep punching at that straw man. You'll knock him down soon enough. And don't even bother with that 90% bullshit. It's not true.

Feh, I forgot the question. Which one of those would you choose? Do you see why it doesn't make much sense to blame the U.S. for the gun problem?

You can't buy a fully-automatic weapon in the U.S. without jumping huge hurdles. Why would anyone buy a $1000 semi-automatic vs a $50 fully automatic? Just because I don't believe politically motivated statements doesn't mean I'm covering my ears. And I never blamed Mexico for anything.

You want to blame the U.S. for drug consumption? Fine. But blaming us for the weapons makes no sense. And I'm sorry if Mexico can't deal with it, but that's no reason to restrict rights of citizens in the U.S.

Exactly. If we were to call off everything that involves meeting of people face to face on the basis that one might give swine flu to the other, then the entire economy would collapse (even more so).

I think the media is tired of running all the "dismal economy" analysis that they're desperate to find anything to report on. This came along and it fills the niche nicely. They're a business and have to keep up the revenue, they want you to stick around for the ads.

If it did spread, I highly doubt its going to kill anyone.

No offense to Mexico, but that country is not known for their medical standards. Maybe this will wake them up to how bad the treatments are there.

Not that the US can talk though considering health/insurance coverage.

And don't troll because I worked in that field and left it due to stuff I can't and don't want to talk about.

Well are they *really* going to just cancel E3? A lot of money is on the line here. People do stupid things for money. Now, me, I'm actually in the crowd that believes the swine flu to be entirely overblown by the media. Sure, its something major we should be keeping our eyes on, but it isn't panic time yet, people.

About 36K people die in the US each year from the flu. Influenza is a serious threat to at risk groups, such the elderly, small children, and those with a history of respitory illness but this strain of the flu is being totally blown out of proportion. Take the same precautions as you would during flu season and you should be fine.
