although the dog part seems kinda cool, the gameplay just doesn't look fun. I know this is probably still in alpha or something but the graphics and combat look horrible

The dog animation looks good. The protagonist animations reminds me of Syphon Filter.

Yes animations are trash...

What they need is some MOcap (motion capture).

I somehow remember the first game having bleh hand-to-hand combat, making for some really annoying boss fights. However, the gun disarms from the first were pretty much what made the game for me back then. I hope you can still launch someone into the air above you and keep them hovering with your machine guns. :D

The lack of slo-mo diving is also sad as making crazy flying-through-the-air gunfight scenes in slo-mo was really fun. Maybe it was because I was 12 or so when the game first came out, but I had a lot of fun with it. I really hope they can polish this game up before release... I don't want another Dead to Rights II.

I was the guy that preferred Dead to Rights over the Max Payne series. I was really excited to hear that they were FINALLY making a next-gen DtR. This footage looks like absolute garbage though. The graphics are horrible, the gameplay looks boring as all get out (what's with all this hand-to hand crap?), and no, I don't want to spend an entire level playing as Shadow to save Jack!

gees does anyone fucking think on this site before posting...the video is NOT HD and is just a trailer...the animations look fine and the graphics don't fuckin matter anyway...people dwell too much on graphics...were people this bitchy about graphics in the days of NES/SNES/ even Atari? Gees...it's not that big of a deal.

You know, this doesn't really don't look that bad. Seriously people, what did you expect, GTA? Mafia II (graphics)? Tell me those games have the best hand-to-hand combat. The closest game with this kind of animation, that I could think of, would be Batman: Arkham Asylum. And hey, it looks better than Afro Samurai at least. That didn't have the same animation style, but Afro just looked stupid running. At least Jack could jump over stuff. Anyway, Most of these games have one kind of fighting system or another. I've seen that in Mafia II you can punch a guy and then throw 'em out the building. So hey, give it a chance! Where is the love? : )

I was thinking it was going to be like Uncharted....but with a dog. :)

Now that I think about it Uncharted is pretty high on the totem poll, so that's a unfair expectation. But I will say the stylalization of the characters within the game look pretty weak on a creative level. Graphically, it looks on par with The Chronicals of Riddick ecsape from butcher bay which was the max for graphics for XBox last gen.

The animations is pretty smooth, but the move akward like....umm.....Karate Fighters! Does anyone remember those toys?

I don't know how I feel. I loved the first game on the PS2 because it was unique I thought. But this...the animations look so weird. It's almost cartoony like. Joystiq said the animations aren't fully implemented yet and the game is still in Alpha. At least it's different and they are trying something new. Not all games have to be realistic, you know? If the graphics and the gamplay impress, and the story is decent, this could be a sleeper hit.

Are you guys watching the same video? I'm rather confused at the overwhelming hate for the graphics. ps2 quality? Are you kidding? Look at those first scenes of him and the dog walking across the tracks and through a gate, and tell me that's ps2. Granted a few of the textures aren't quite up to scratch, but even those are a damn sight better than last gen. Anyhow, that scene I mentioned is graphically beautiful imo, I'm impressed.

As for the animations, that's another matter. Not to say i don't like them, find them refreshingly different, but I can certainly see why someone would think otherwise.
As someone else said, reminds me of Gabe in siphon filter too.

Can't wait for this game. The first one was awesome and fun as hell. The second one was just stupid and didn't even feel like Dead to Rights.

I don't care about the graphics either. They look fine to me in this video. I play my 360 and PS3 on an Insignia SDTV as well, just letting you guys know. Graphics are of none of my concern as long as they don't look like PS1.

Is Dead to Rights: Reckoning the same as Dead to Rights: Retribution? The video is Retribution, but later you state that Reckoning runs on a proprietary engine, so unless thats the PSP version from 2005, (which may explain the poor animations/graphics) you should edit the text - please.

I also really enjoyed the first Dead to Rights, but I'm disappointed that they seem so focused on hand to hand combat.
This game was really all about the gun play and the slo-motion.

Sure, it was basically a Max Payne clone, but it was newer and fun (and I'd already played Max Payne a million times by then), and that's about all that really matters.

I thought the premise was good enough to make for an entertaining game. Throwing and shooting propane tanks and the likes made the game.

I don't see any of that here. Hopefully it will be true to the first one, only with more polish and pizazz.

That Jack guy fights like that old He-man plastic toy, where you twist his body and he lets off a punch - great for usuing against little brothers :) At least He-Man's body never contorted when he lifted his arms. The animation on this game is truly awful XD

I hope it's not just me, but all the characters look really small in the game world. What is up with that? Is this place full of dwarfs with guns? Man, that's a new twist on WoW if I ever saw one.

I just hope the story isn't cliched, but based on the smugness on those two guys telling us about the game I do fear the worst. I'll bet they drink Horlicks.
