Hey, look. It's Splinter Cell Conviction. Where have you been? Ah, still not ready to talk about that, huh? Well it sounds like you're due by this Christmas, according to Ubisoft's latest quarterly report. The report includes the company's CEO, Yves Guillemot, hyping "this Christmas" as the one to offer "one of the industry's most ambitious games line-ups which will include Assassin's Creed 2, James Cameron's Avatar, Splinter Cell Conviction, Rabbids Go Home and Red Steel 2."
If true, we'll no doubt be hearing a lot more about Sam Fisher's latest adventure at some point within the next eight months. With no Ubidays happening this year, we're counting on a big reveal at E3 -- and about time, too.

Ubisoft is setting themselves up either for Epic win or Epic fail this holiday season
Though it might be too soon to judge, since we don't know the whole scope of Q3-Q4 this year yet...

The way I see it:
Splinter Cell Conviction will make 2009...it's been in the pipes for YEARS.
Final Fantasy XIII will make it to Playstation late in 2010, but wont show up on 360 till mid 2011 (since Square has gone on record saying the 360 version will get it's port AFTER FFXIII makes it to PS3)
Then we shall all star in The Joystiq Podcast: The Game. Ban Hammer in hand you patrol the internets looking for Trolls and Fanboys to vanquish.
Finally, sometime after the Apocalypse, we will get the first demo of Duke Nukem Forever.

The Final Fantasy 13 port in North America has been a source of discrepancy in some circles. It seems straightforward enough that the PS3 (JPN) version will release this holiday then localization of the North American version and subsequent 360 port for a simultaneous multi-platform release will follow. However, it's never really been set in stone that the PS3 & 360 versions will release at the same time in North America. It wouldn't surprise me if the PS3 version released ahead of the 360 version by a small margin of a few months or so. Then, the 360 would get some sort of an enhanced version 8 weeks later. It just doesn't make much sense to put the finished PS3 version on the shelf so that it can release alongside the 360 version.

Is it just me or does Fisher look like Richard Dean Anderson, A.K.A. MacGyver, with a beard?

as a lover of stealth games i say make this more like the Bourne movies. if you want large crowd scenes and such, have Sam lead some one around on a phone, like the scene from Bourne Ultimatium (sp). Think like that. Avoiding cameras and acquiring weapons/intel on the spot. Of course, with the help of some woman who still believes Sam is a good guy. Aiding him because she thinks he's doing the right thing, and also putting herself in major trouble. Basically just rip off BU, and use the game play from CT and >BLAMO!< awesome game. how cool would it be to lose someone who is trailing you by sitting down and opening up a paper to read as they run by. sort of like Altiar from AC when he sits down on the bench...

Finally! How long have we been waiting for this game? Like 3 or more years now.

I really hope they changed some things. I loved Splinter Cell games, but this one looked a direction on the bad side. I loved having to cling to shadows with gadgets, but this one looks like hiding in the dark has been replaced with putting a hoody on. I really hope I have just not seen the right screenshots or something. Because if it is like the other games, then this will be a day one purchase for me.
