Developer Saber Interactive has been keeping to itself since its time-bending shooter, TimeShift, first bored critics in 2007. Employees have been spending their hours competing in weekly dance-offs doing the Time Warp, a heated competition that'll likely be put on hold now that the company has a new game to work on. Make that games -- plural -- as middleware firm Havok announced that its Havok Destruction tech is now in the hands of the company for use in "several" upcoming games.
While no games have been announced, Saber Interactive teases that Havok Destruction will help bring "a new scale and complexity to the fully destructible city" in its next title, including the ability to punch holes through walls. In addition, the developer notes that the software allowed it to realize "large-scale destruction sequences" and reduce costs, with the outfit's budget for interactive assets dropping by 40 percent or more as a result of the Havok license. Exploding barrels, is there anything you can't do?

Timeshift is a good game with no... and I do mean NO story.
They figured out a way to tell a coherent story with the game mechanics they had and it would have been at least a "Worth Renting" upon release.
As it is it's worth getting now for the >$10 price

I'll admit that the story was a bit incoherent and never seemed to wrap up in a successful manner. However the gameplay of Timeshift was actually pretty fun. I never got tired of stopping time, filling a few guys with explosive arrows, starting time and then watching them explode.

I got excited when scrolling thinking this was some Free Radical news and that was an image from Haze. Nope.
Upon second glance, I thought it was a new Crysis expansion. Nope.
I could have stared at that image without the headline for hours and not guessed Timeshift. There's something to be said about memorable iconic characters versus faceless gun toting dudes.

I recently picked up Timeshift for $10, and it really isn't that awful.
Then again, maybe the only reason I'm enjoying it is because it was $10, and I had such low expectations.

I personally thought TimeShift got an unecessarily bad repution. I played through the entire game and found it to be quite enjoyable. I thought it was as good as Dark Sektor, but for some reason that game ended up with a rep for being underrated while TimeShift got pegged as poor. Made no sense to me, but whatever.

I for one really enjoyed this game. I liked it more than F.E.A.R.. I could care less about the story. The game just felt good to play. It was a visceral experience that I played through twice in a row. As soon as I finished with normal I went through on hard.
It's not different than enjoying a 'popcorn' action movie.
I'm definitely hoping for a sequel.

Meh, Timeshift was a pretty average game that had no idea what it was doing half the time. all the time puzzles were seriously below par (what's that? Stop time then turn a crank, then go through a door? How exciting! ...oh, you want me to do that 90 more times?) and multiplayer was spastic as all hell.
Know what came out the same day as this thing? CoD4, which beat the living hell out of it with insanely superior gameplay. I wouldn't put any stock into seeing a second TimeS.hit ever since vivendi exploded - so much for that 'franchise.'
