Patapon 2 is finally coming to the PSP in North America. While associate producer Chris Hinojosa-Miranda couldn't precisely explain why the title has taken so long to reach its final destination, he did say that the added time provided more focus on localization and translation. (Even still, we manged to spot a few lingering instances of "Engrish.")
Hinojosa-Miranda told us that the development team continues to get requests for a downloadable PS3 version of Patapon that features online modes, which he says the studio is "listening to." The team is also looking at licensing out more of those popular Patapon plush dolls (in case you missed the first batch). Will there be a Patapon 3? "There's such a critical love for Patapon, the characters, the story overall, and the music especially ... there's a good chance that the franchise will continue," Hinojosa-Miranda suspects.
Expect our Patapon 2 review shortly.

ok so here's my request
-patapon 1 or patapon 2 in glorious 1080p on the PSN for $20-30
-patapon 3 on psp
-patapon 3 shouldn't have too many quests of the same type in a row like patapon 2 and old bosses should be optional.
and... that's it. that would be great if they did that, especially number 3. patapon 2 was great, but it got repetitive at some parts.

oh, and try not to make some bosses pushovers. i got the manboth boss to level 20 and it still can't damage my army. uh, what?
but some of the other bosses like the rare ice dragon and centura/darantula are AWESOME and are great fights. and *SPOILER* the last boss dettan karmen is really awesome too.

Patapon 2 is only $20. Why would you request Patapon 1 for $20-$30 on PSN? No wonder so many companies think they can nickel and dime us.

Because a lot of the artwork would likely have to be redone considering the massive increase in resolution?
Because PSP development kits do not, as of yet, have "PS3 game" under their "Save As" command bar?
Because that's what HE'D be willing to pay?

I completely understand that, I mean, I'm a software programmer myself, but Patapon for $30 on PSN? That's overkill.

Maybe it's cause I'm a software engineer, but $30 still seems like a great value for a game like Patapon on PS3. There's a ton more there than there is with something like PJ Eden. But hey, cheaper is always good.
Oh and why is he only now "listening" for requests for a PS3 version. I've been asking for that for a long time! I want to play it with my Rock Band drums.

I'm new to Patapon (just played the demo recently), and was just wondering if I should play Patapon (the original) or just start off with the sequel. I realize that you can transfer your items and stuff over to Patapon 2, from the demos and the prequel, but was just wondering if it is worth it to put the time into beating the first Patapon. Thanks in advance!

play patapon 1. TRUST ME. patapon 2 was hard for me, and i'm a patapon 1 vet with every boss to like level 40 and an army full of rarepons. and i was playing on easy. patapon 1 will equip you with the skills you need to beat patapon 2. otherwise, your psp will be firmly lodged in the wall.
patapon 1 all the way.

Now that's a ridiculously good idea! I too would buy a drumset just for that purpose.

I've played it already and it reminds me of the jump from loco roco to loco roco 2. The same core mechanics are there but the entire experience has been improved. Can't wait for this to come out.
I would love a PSN version in 1080p for $20.

I would like a new version on PSN. I was actually hoping Patapon 2 would be playable on PS3 and PSP. It's the perfect portable game, but it also fits well on PSN.

I agree, as much as I love Patapon, I'd rather be playing it on my couch in 1080p glory.

Here's my request:
Allow gamers the option drum or guitar peripherals as a controller configuration.
If you want to blow us gamers out of the water:
Create a 2-4 player multiplayer mode, which layers the groups against hordes of enemies, producing a harmonious melody of beats.
Combine the multiplayer mode with the controller configuration of two guitar peripherals, a drum set peripheral, and a microphone peripheral. or mix and match with dualshock 3s, and you have a MUST HAVE PS3 PSN beautiful, original, game.
With DLC FTW!

A re-do option on missions. slightly higher drop rates (i dislike needing to create a tree army just to farm demon hides). No 1 hit perma kills that's just annoying as hell. I mean who raises a level 10 dragon pon just to have it perma killed??? so stuuuuupid.
