See Fable 2's future on May 12
Information continues to trickle in from the trusty crystal ball regarding Fable 2's upcoming "See the Future" DLC, which Lionhead now reveals will be available on May 12. The content will cost 560 ($7) Microsoft Points, a currency that thankfully still holds value in the distant future.
In addition to adding in new items, quests and fluffy companions, Lionhead also promises that all Xbox Live Silver account holders will be able to adventure alongside their Gold cousins for free from May 8 through May 11. So grab your dog and your favorite sword -- the future's waiting.

im probably the only one but i completed the original game fully and never touched it again i.e moved on to resistance2......did i really even miss anything or is it more of the same of the same?
cuteSAVAGE @ Apr 30th 2009 8:58AM
They made a decent attempt at giving you some quests past the end of the game, but they amounted to little more than repetitive rescue and fetch quests on top of the more complicated jobs. Still, it's more than you were given after the original Fable ended.
There really isn't a whole lot to do in Knothole Island to warrant a $10 purchase unless you really loved the game or were desperate to get your dog back, you get one main quest and a lot of forgettable items. This being $7, and the promise of at least three large quests might be worth coming back for.

Wait... so basically silver and gold members can play together from the 8th to the 11th of may if you get the expansion that is released on the 12th?
How can they know that? Do they really "see the future"? :)
or did I misunderstand?

I lolled
Jason Statham (Aka Vegeta) @ Apr 30th 2009 9:02AM
I just finished Fable 2(about fucking time) and I can't wait for this DLC.
baby sea tuna @ Apr 30th 2009 9:10AM
So, I heard that there would be new dog breeds in this. Anyone know how that works? My saintly protagonist sacrificed the life of his dog to bring back the Spire construction crew, but now he wanders Albion alone. Is there like Ye Olde Pounde where I can pick out a new companion or do I have to have one already and it just changes the breed?
Also, those monster costumes sound awesome. I can't wait to terrorize towns as a Hobbe (obviously, I'll have to use one of my evil characters for that.)
Markez @ Apr 30th 2009 11:05AM
They don't get terribly specific, although it sounds like little more than a new way to 'skin' your dog :P Unless they're including some resurrection shrine like they did in Knothole Island, you're going to be poochless, pal. Unless you pick up Knothole Island.
His comments around what happens when you finish this DLC almost sounds like a teaser for a 3rd DLC pack.

I have Knothole Island, I just couldn't sacrifice an innocent to resurrect my dog. Well, I could, but it wouldn't have been in line with my particular character choice. Would've taken some shine off of that well-earned halo, ya know?
Markez @ Apr 30th 2009 11:44AM
Well then, no sheep dog for Seamus! You goody two shoes...
The Dark Wayne @ Apr 30th 2009 12:04PM
just sacrifice a temple of shadows member, or if you've destroyed that, walk around Bloodstone until you find a particular brute ruffian
Markez @ Apr 30th 2009 12:07PM
I thought if you play along as a good alignment eventually the Temple of Shadows just gets destroyed anyway? I never even knew where the hell it was in the 1st place :(
The Dark Wayne @ Apr 30th 2009 1:02PM
if you do the defender of the light quest it does, but if you dont the shadow survives but the temple of light is destroyed
Mr. L @ Apr 30th 2009 9:12AM
Microsoft and their wacky price points. $7? That's the strangest dollar amount I've seen yet! I have a feeling that the "future" of Fable 2 is bleek and this will be the last of the DLC. The "future" of Fable 2 is there is no future.
baby sea tuna @ Apr 30th 2009 9:23AM
Didn't Lionhead say that they were working on more content? I wish they'd come up with a patch to allow the clothes that I gift to my spouse (or whoever) to actually show up on the NPCs. That's my only real beef. I played the holy hell out of that game, and enjoyed every minute of it, so anything more is just gravy.
RankHypocrisy @ Apr 30th 2009 9:28AM
I loved Fable 2, but Knothole Island was short, disappointing, and not worth $10. Furthermore, the multiplayer in Fable 2 sucks.
Sorry, but I'm speaking truth to power.
Snowblind @ Apr 30th 2009 10:11AM
I enjoyed Knothole for what it was, but it definitely wasn't worth the price. Knocking this one down to just 500 is a lot more reasonable. And yes, the multiplayer sucked, but it was tacked on at the last minute and was never promised to be anything more than it was.
I don't see why people get so angry about it, at least they have something to build on for the sequel.
Vegnagun bwf @ Apr 30th 2009 9:48AM
I hope Lionhead goes all out with this one and makes it much longer than Knothole Island. I'm excited for it either way.
tsukasa1288 @ Apr 30th 2009 9:51AM
us silver members are finally getting some love, if only for a few days. might even make me buy the dlc if i finish fable 2 before that free time expires.
Dr. Flex @ Apr 30th 2009 10:09AM
Sounds solid to me.
whiskeyseven @ Apr 30th 2009 10:22AM
I'm not a big DLC person, and I don't spend a lot of ms space bucks, but I can safely say I will continue to buy whatever LionHead puts out for Fable. My favorite game in years.
I don't know what it is. It seems that with Fable 2 you either didn't like it and don't care, or you're completely obsessed. I'm the latter.
R3AL1Z3 @ Apr 30th 2009 10:23AM
Unfortunately, My two wives found out about each other, and took everything I had. :(
baby sea tuna @ Apr 30th 2009 10:38AM
Haha, at least they didn't live in the time of Jerry Springer or Maury Povich. Then you'd have been in REAL trouble!
Ooh, that'd make a good machinima short...
Markez @ Apr 30th 2009 11:07AM
I'm glad that frumpy hag I married on Knothole Island can't leave the Island. I'd hate for them mainland folks to see her as hag wife on the side of the hero of Albion. How embarrassing. Gotta keep up appearances with that hot dame of a wife of mine in Bowerstone Market.
The Dark Wayne @ Apr 30th 2009 12:03PM
me I married a Hooker.

Silver gets access for 4 days YAY!!!!
Guess I'll get this game finally next week then...
Lilpunkduck @ Apr 30th 2009 11:34AM
Cant wait for this I'll have to get some good old ms money. Seriously although its not a game thats wow hard or amazing graphics ive never found a real fault with it
Professor Lario @ Apr 30th 2009 11:47AM
I wish one of the DLC packages would add a more fleshed out co-op. I don't mind the 'henchman' route, but the same screen limitation ruins it.
The Dark Wayne @ Apr 30th 2009 12:01PM
Son of a bitch that's too long! Release it on May 5th like Broken Steel!
MystileArmor @ Apr 30th 2009 12:55PM
No no, leave it for the 12th. Happy birthday to meeeeeeee!
The Dark Wayne @ Apr 30th 2009 12:02PM
You know, for a second there, I read "Trusty crystal ball" as Trusty crusty ball" and the only thing I could think was "That's no way to talk about Peter Molyneux"
Gus @ Apr 30th 2009 3:08PM
In response to Snowblind...it was not tacked on at the last minute. One of the very first videos released was showcasing the multiplayer. They also talked it up and made it seem like you'd be able to bring your character from your own game into your friend's. I love this game but the multiplayer was implemented terribly.
Snowblind @ Apr 30th 2009 3:34PM
It was pretty late they showed the multiplayer, and from the very begining they said the second player would be a henchmen and that it would work similar to Lego Star Wars' drop in drop out system.
Again, it was never promised to be anything more than it was. I definitely agree it wasn't very good, and it'd be great if they could improve it, but the way I see it, it's similar to the multiplayer from San Andreas, which basically worked exactly the same way with both players stuck on the same screen - but it at least gives them a foundation for a sequel and they know what people want from it now.
alexanka @ Apr 30th 2009 3:02PM
I'm hoping for it to have some way to undo the effects of the Potion of Transmogrification, because I didn't know it was going to autosave as soon as I drank the potion.

does any1 know if the free download gives you anything.. i'm a poor 15 year old and won't be getting any money for a while
