The most official, new trailer for Army of Two: The 40th Day has at last been released. You'll get to see Shanghai being overrun by the so-called 40th Day Initiative, which is apparently laying waste to everything and everyone in sight. One thing we noticed very quickly is that the tone of the trailer is very serious. The buddy comedy vibe present in trailers for the original Army of Two is almost completely absent, save for a single modest one-liner at the end.

Oh, and don't worry, there are plenty of explosions too.

A new trailer for Army of Two: The 40th Day has surfaced ~~(embedded after the break via GameVideos)~~. The quality of the video isn't fantastic (a promised high-def version is premiering tonight on GameTrailers TV, for you videophiles), but there's still plenty of information to soak up. You'll get to see Shanghai being overrun by the so-called 40th Day Initiative, which is apparently laying waste to everything and everyone in sight. One thing we noticed very quickly is that the tone of the trailer is very serious. The buddy comedy vibe present in trailers for the original Army of Two is almost completely absent, save for a single modest one-liner at the end.

Hmm, the bromance theme of the first game at least set it apart from the crowd, now it seems a bit generic. But the plot does sound pretty cool.

I too would rather see them completely gay out on each other instead of avoiding the issue. Not only would it be more entertaining but it would also be a braver approach to an unintentional 'mistake' from the first game. I would respect the game more if they had a real emotional relationship.

It seems as though they went a completely different route with this, and made it look awesome, why dont they just go the whole far cry 2 route and just replace the 2 main characters, and still call it army of two, and no one will mention bromance or anything like that.

Probably wont be needed in all honesty. I got half way through it and sold it, but this one looks the business. I doubt anyone will have trouble following it (don't think it follows on from the last).

so did you like the first hour of the first one? im semi joking but on a serious note, i actually got it used for 20, beat the game and got all the offline achievements, and the next day took it back to gamestop, got 20 dollars towards elder scrolls IV GoTY and iv really been enjoying it. not to turn this into an anti gamestop post but the dumbass at gamestop gave me the regular disk so i dont have shivering isles or knights of the nine so iv got to take it back

Not interested if this is going to be region locked. I lost interest in the first one as soon as I found out it was region locked. Same shit happened with Mercs 2. Bought it on launch day and thoroughly checked all contents and found no evidence it was region locked, but it was. You better believe I sent EA and Pandemic letters and filed a complaint with the BBB.

How is a game being region locked BBB complaint worthy? It is perfectly within their right to do. If you want to complain, complain to MS for putting region locking into the xbox...

Tons of my friends also complained to as many companies as they could. The fact that it was region locked pissed me off in the first place, but the fact that it didn't say anywhere in the product manual, game disc, or game contents was insanely frustrating and unacceptable to me. If I'm going to pay $50 a year for a service that theoretically is going to allow me to play with whomever I want, whenever I want, then I am paying for that, not for EA to region lock their shit servers.

I got two emails back from someone in EA and Pandemic both contradicting each other. The one from EA said the region locking was not going to be removed, but the one from Pandemic said that it was being patched out.

I could understand region locking if the service (XBL) was free, but it's not. And if I want to play with someone in another region, I should be damn well able to. I hope to fuck that region locking does not become a trend, and I really hope EA does not continue with this. If they don't region lock this game, chances are I'll buy it. They lost me as a customer when they started region locking more than one game.

So what if they locked it, only stupid thing I noticed, is that the 3(or so) region versions came up as 3 seperate games on the achievement list.. so some sad gits could get 3000-3750 off one game - all regional versions should count as the same game reguardless - so you can still compare them properly..

Way to stick it to the man. They had to pay some guy to throw your letter away. I bet you cost the company at least a nickel in labor. A dime if he had to shred it first.

I think most people here misunderstood what "region locked" means: ONLINE PLAY is region locked to where you bought the game, i.e. to the US or Europe. Europeans cannot play with US players. It's got nothing to do with the region coding to prohibit imports where the region lock is in the console.

As long as it keeps most of what was established in the first game and adds to it, I'll definitely be pickin' it up. The first Army of Two was a great game and a lot of fun with a bud.

I'm going to wait for a higher quality version, but I really loved the first game after picking it up for next to nothing. Definitely looking forward to this :)

I'll definitely play this, but half the fun of the first one was playing with a friend and having a laught at all the silly things they put in.

At the very least, I hope I can still put platinum and gold flames on my sniper rifle.

i'm thinking the same thing. those graphics and explosions looked like shit. the last one looked better than that. me and my friend did have alot of fun with the first one though so i have some high hopes for this one.

well I havent got to see the trailer yet, but Ill throw in my two pence. The first games major major flaw was the AI partner, I fortunately did one playthrough on co-op then went for professional difficulty with ai and man does it suck youd be sat waiting for revival behind crates and hed just be running back and two past you or running away to take on the world alone. Personally I think enemy ai should be dropped slightly if you dbno so your ai has a better chance of saving you. Also yes the region lock does suck...anyway i did find it a fun co-op experience like i did gears of war and the halo series which also dont feel as good alone but god damn its do-able

(on more thing, the disk got scratched and I wasnt able to finish the hellicarrier level on professional/singleplayer. but i did every other level robbed of achievements!)

Well that was dumb.

There wasn't that much footage of what the actual game is gonna look like though, with you controling the character. I want gameplay footage!!! It looked impressive in the screen shots. This video is meh but I still want to play it.

With you on this one, it all looked early stages of development.. the first game was good with a second player, the buddy AI couldn't cope beyond easy.. I'm hoping they're using Dead Space as the bar for quality on this one - wasn't AoT said to raise the barr itself, before they hacked half the game out of it?

Well it looks decent, can definitely say I'll rent it to play..

The A-10 Warthog crashing into that building was intense.

No matter the reviews said, the first one was awesome with the co-op elements.
