Here is why I think it would be a mistake.

Most people who already bought a wii won't simultaneously buy something that imitates the wii. If Sony wants to have people concurrently buy both systems, then they need to position the PS3 as different from the Wii.

The more the PS3 becomes like the Wii, the more irrelevant it becomes to people who already have a Wii. And that is a lot of people.

That being said, I don't think Sony will do it, and if they do, they won't use it more than just a little bit.

Some people are so moronic.

There are only hardcore GAMERS, not hardcore games.

The "hardcore game" moniker is a f*cking PR slogan for dimwits.

You can be hardcore if you play Tetris for 12 hours per day. You can be hardcore and play Mario Galaxy all day long. You can be hardcore by playing Halo, Uncharted, Wii Bowling, Little Big Planet or Fallout 3 in marathon sessions, or by learning everything there is to know about said game.

You are not hardcore just for playing Killzone 2 or GTA 4 for a few minutes each day.

M Rated means it's for mature adults, not that the game itself is mature. The game is graphic and intended for mature people...get it? It's about the player, not the game.

I don't see any reason for nintendo, or their fanboys, to worry about this. On the contrary, this is great news for the wii.

When motion controls are implemented on the PS3 (and 360, if this is indeed the trend), developers won't have to make two types of games for wii and the traditional systems. They can all use the same gameplay structure. All developers would have to do is just downgrade the graphics/rez for the Wii instead of making a totally different game from the ground up.

And since the Wii is in 10x more homes than PS3 & 360 such new games will only benefit the established nintendo hardware base.

The hostility by serious gamers towards the Wii and motion control is fascinating. It's like they're threatened by the idea of an easier controller that almost anyone can learn to use rather quickly. Like a Japanese samurai, they fear the new weapon (guns) that threatens to take away the advantage of years of training (swords and bows) gives them over newbies (peasant soldiers in the Meiji Army).

The failure of Sony and Microsoft to copy the Wiimote control from a financial perspective is gross negligence towards stockholders. Nintendo has been kicking their butt for three years already, yet neither company has answered the call. Which is amazing when you consider that both companies have better consoles, software and availability but are only losing because of an easier controller and a lower price (the latter advantage, at least, has been steadily shrinking).

Though, I would say that Sony has run a remarkably inept ad campaign for the PS3 where it's advantages are rarely mentioned but creepy images abound. Their entire marketing department needs to be shot. And then laid off. Then they need to hire Nintendo's ad guys. Those ads make the Wii seem fun. The PS3 ads make you go WTF? at best and give you nightmares at worst.

LOL

I usually troll the GF's board for Wii's MOHH2 and CODWaW. I just wanted to say that I will be keeping my Wii's (got 2), but if this new style controller comes out for the PS3 I'm getting two PS3's.

Now I play only online Wii titles with the exception of RE4. I haven't had the chance to play lately as my work and my main wii going down has stopped me. But you could easily look me up.

I am BadDaddy1 (formerly ranked 5th in CODWaw, service record and wins) and BadDaddy1 (formerly top 200 in MOHH2), of course because of my situation both rankings have suffered. But the point is that I understand the advantages of the Wii and love the controller... But I'm fed up with the snubbing that Nintendo has given the "Hardcore" Wii players!

Case in point:
Medal of Honor Heroes 2, no upgrades, watered down game, EA has come forward and said that Nintendo and it's rigid rules has all but insured that there will be no other MOH online games for the Wii.

Call of Duty World at War, No zombie mode, no upgrades, nintendo insists on it's friend code system and to utilize the Wiis to act as servers of sort. The game has become a joke with all the glitchers and Rifle Naders, yet Treyarch has spent nothing to fix it. They simply don't see the value in the future of FPS with Nintendo's rules attatched. It's still a toss up to see if we get Modern Warfare 2

Resident Evil 5, Nintendo decided that it's too violent... Wii doesn't get it.

Conduit, the developers of conduit issued a press release stating all the items that Nintendo made them remove do to either a conflict with current Nintendo policy or they want it saved for a second conduit. Had Nintendo made these demands prior to them spending soo much time and money, conduit would not have come out.

The next Wii; Nintendo CEO sees no reason to upgrade the graphics card on the wii or give it a Hard Drive. He has also put off the next Wii till at least 2011.

My son's best friend owns a PS3 and he brings it over to our house (we got wifi) and they play CODWaW and Resident Evil 5... I gotta say, we got hosed! The main reason I've stubbornly stuck with Nintendo was for the controller. Being that I am considerably older than when I first started playing video games, (I owned "PONG" new! and the Atari 2600 new) I was happy to see a new type controller that gave my thumbs a break. But the trade off is now seeming to be too great as more and more of the FPS developers are going away from the wii.

Should these new controllers come out, I will be buying ps3's instead of the next Nintendo console model, simply cause Nintendo has forced me to go elsewhere.

Thank you for your time
