Bull crap. That's U.S politicians (See: "Series of Tubes") spouting a bunch of garbage so they can scare enough Canadian politicians (See: "U.S politicians") into signing on for another DMCA north of the border.

Almost all of them are either under the thumb of the media giants, greedy, complete idiots or liars. "Legal Incentives" means paying or suing ISPs whether or not they act on what goes through their lines.

Luckily, the internet is very loud... and will likely be dragged kicking and screaming before the ESA (See: Cockmonglers) have their way. No doot aboot it.

I can't blame USA for watching us, our laws in this regard are so superior and more consumer-friendly.

Canada should add the US to a watch list of countries that have draconian copyright laws that are hostile toward its population.

Jeez, then give us more legal streaming options =/. Online TV show selection sucks here lol.

And plus, can't even watch some movies like The Soloist without going to some rare and far away theatres *sigh*.

No kidding. While online video is getting better (CTV has a good player and Global's got updated recently), I still don't get why you can't buy any shows from NBC, CBS, ABC or FOX on iTunes Canada, not even through their Canadian counterpart networks. It's tough to not pirate something if you aren't even offered the possibility of buying it.

I envy the US because of Hulu (and Pandora).

Every single podcast I listen to is like "oh I just finished catching up on Lost on Hulu, then I watched some more Hulu then I Hulu'ed till it was time for bed."

Why the folks behind Hulu (it's mainly NBC right?) would ever let a whole country worth of ad revenue slip between their fingers is beyond me.

Is it wrong if my immediate reaction to the US disapproving of our "lax" laws is WOOHOO? Personally, I think US copyright laws have gone batshit insane and I'd be worried if our laws were similar.

We have this strange foreign outlook that starts off as "U-S-A is the best country in the world" but then sharply turns into "Why isn't every country like ours? Shouldn't they be trying to be #1 by copying us? Why are they doing things differently? This confuses us! Let's go over there and help them turn into us!" and quickly degenerates into chants of "U-S-A! U-S-A!".

The only thing I hate more than Canadians are Canadian pirates, and the only thing I hate more than them are French Canadians. Effing separatists.

I resemble that remark. Knowing someone hates me makes me feel all fuzzy inside. I'm a french canadian pirate.

However, you don't make much sense. If you hate Canadians, what do you care about the separatist movement?

So you hates me because I'm a french Canadian? Dang, I'll have issues sleeping tonight. Where is my teddy bear when you need it?

"increasing concern about the continuing need for copyright reform, as well as continuing concern about weak border enforcement."

We already pay a levy on all blank media to some stupid fund that goes to the artists and record labels, etc. The reason they are after us is we actually care about personal rights and freedoms, and feel that something as petty as sharing songs isn't worth ruining someone's life.

RIAA, etc can go suck one.

"RIAA, etc can go suck one."

Agreed, but add MPAA to that list as well.

I'd also like to see just how much of our "blank media fund" (or whatever it is actually called) actually goes to the artists. I have a feeling that it won't be much (if any at all)
