Meh, I'll stick to enjoying not being a fanboy and enjoy games for its pros and cons, and I can think of plenty for CoD4. More for WaW but many for CoD4 nonetheless.

im not sure if its so much "fanboyism" as much as it is good/poor development and production value.

its known very well that Infinity Ward's take on the Call of Duty franchise is favored by many more people than Treyarch's.

I can safely say that CoD4 is one of my favorite shooters of all time. Not from fanboyism or anything, but there were just so many great moments in the single player campaign that actually felt new to me. WaW just didn't have that impact. I completely attribute that to Infinity Ward. WaW is pretty fun, but CoD4 is a benchmark in modern shooters.

True, but it seems that most people are letting their inner fanboy, overtake their logical thing. People say that they copied IW, well they pretty much have no choice or their publisher Act. would be pissed. After CoD4's success it would only make sense but to continue the formula. I too favor IW to Treyarch, but I'm able to put my opinion aside to see WaW for what it is. An above average game, about a B- game IMO. They've supported their most popular game mode in their map packs (Hell Hounds FTW) and Co-Op is a lW lot of fun with friends. I may think CoD4 kicks WaW's ass but I still am able to see it's pros instead of focusing on its cons.

Sorry, keyboard is breaking X/ Overall, WaW is a lot of fun to play. IMO, CoD4's single player is nothing too special. I've seen better FPS campaigns but apparently CoD4's is the most original one ever made. The sniper mission was as intense as hell though I'll give it that.

I don't think anyone's saying that Treyarch "copied" anything. They were hired to create decent titles to keep annual revenue flowing in between the much better IW games. If anything, they don't copy them enough.

That doesn't mean people who follow games enough to even know what a developer is have to give equal time. A dozen news stories flash by on this site about companies you don't care about every day. There are only so many hours in the day and dollars in the wallet. Although I admit I would take more interest in a shooter that isn't set in WW2.

Preferring a game from a certain company has hardly anything to do with fanboyism, but just personal taste. I played both COD4 and WAW and I thought WAW was a pale imitation (except for the very fun Zombie Nazi mode).

It's just my opinion, so quit freaking out over it Kaji.

An A-Team mission, where you get set up (which leads on to the series)..
IW should be the ones to do it, even if it's an 'easter egg' mission

I agree with you, from a story sense. For sure there are combat options that are ripe for a game - air-mobile cavalry, deep jungle, ambushes, water and shore operations. The tough thing though is finding a good reason for being there - after all, the US didn't really have one and we spent years there. It might be interesting if they approach it from a We Were Soldiers perspective, with a beloved and brilliant warrior on one side leading his mean against the same from the other. That might work on the macro level, and then you can throw in some Platoon-type story lines among the grunts. Or, you can go a completely different way and throw in something like Apocalypse Now, where you play a single soldier who has a larger mission, but gets caught up in all of these skirmishes on his way to his goal. Lots of options, none of them slam dunks for a good game, but I think they can pull it off. I hope so.

Yeah, it was suprising for me to learn that US soldiers fought the Chinese army in open warfare. It basically never gets a mention in anything.

It wasn't the real official "Chinese Army" but a group of "ragtag volunteers" that China sponsored. There was still plenty of war before that point to fill up a game.

That seems really sweet, while I do enjoy World War 2 stuff, it is starting to get tired now, a change of scene would be nice, especially a setting that's only been done in a few other games. Compared to Vietnam the modern setting is almost as overdone as WWII. I think this Vietnam setting could make me care about the franchise again

me too I'm really intrigued by this. Vietnam offers such a different kind of combat but still close enough to tradition that it's a breath of fresh air without stepping too far away. Wow the more and more I think about this the more excited about it I get

Cuban music? That can only mean one thing: the Bay of Pigs Invasion. Gee, I bet that'll make for an awesome video game. *rolls eyes sarcastically*

That's almost as good an idea as making a game about Fallujah. Hell, while we're at it, why don't we make a game about the war in Kosovo or the Rwandan genocides?

Well, you noticed how Vietnam War(the one US lost) movies are all sad and gloomy horror of war types while WW2's tend to have this patriotic 'jolly good show' attitude? Given the much more serious attitude Treyarch have taken in WaW where both sides are essentially monsters, I think they can pull off a Vietnam game much better than IW could.
