50 Cent wants to 'make' Blood on the Sand sequel, original IP
At Joystiq Headquarters, we're all about bumpin' the latest Fiddy track and tossing around the ol' crystal skull (that's a basketball to you). So it should come as no surprise that we're psyched for the news that avid Joystiq reader 50 Cent is hoping for a sequel to his well-reviewed third-person shooter, 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand.
According to an interview with MTV News, our favorite Vitamin Water investor responds rather positively when asked about the possibility of a sequel, saying, "I'm hoping we'll be able to do it ... with the success of this actual project, we'll try to do it again." Furthermore, though he's stated it before, he's more interested in doing future games that don't revolve around his persona, telling the interviewer, "I'd like to be a part of designing and marketing a video game I'm not actually in." And what of that Saint's Row movie you were optioning, Mr. Cent? "I was trying to option the rights, [but] the more we talk about it, the more expensive it will get," he says. Those "bigass chains" can get expensive, can't they?
Hit the break for the full, "actual" video (only for those in the US unfortunately, per MTV.com restrictions -- sorry!).

A sequel? Why?
Don't you think you've destroyed the gaming culture enough? What the hell next? 50 Racing?
MrSpaceCowboy @ May 4th 2009 10:09PM
I think a more appropriate name would be Fiddy Kong Racing
ArchGamer @ May 4th 2009 10:12PM
@ MrSpaceCowboy
Gorilla's with guns! AWESOME!
It ill be good I say, good.
Anyone remember Shadow the Hedgehog?
That was AWESOME!
MrSpaceCowboy @ May 4th 2009 10:14PM
It's an idea so brilliant, it cannot possibly fail!
Manly Mcbeefington (Mr. ESC) @ May 4th 2009 10:15PM
No that would be silly, everybody knows is going to be called G-Unit Drive by :Gangsta Kart Racing.
Maverick Saturn @ May 4th 2009 10:17PM
Hmm, now that you mention it, he does resemble Donkey Kong, I think he should ask Nintendo to do a duet with P - Diddy Kong.
'50 Kong and P Diddy Kong Adventures', that will be an original IP for sure :D
Maverick Saturn @ May 4th 2009 10:30PM

I see two Fiddies!
The left one is 50, right?
754Boy @ May 4th 2009 11:01PM
You guys can joke all you want but the game was actually pretty good. I personally would love to see a sequel.
GreyFox @ May 5th 2009 12:31AM
Have you even played the game?! It's actually fun. I'm not fucking joking one bit it's pretty fun and it has co-op.
M@sterShake @ May 5th 2009 1:20AM
yea 50 cent, what gives you the right to make fun games?
how dare you even dream of supplying us gamers with more fun stuff to play?
you guys are really ate up, honestly it saddens me to see this is the state gaming is at, hating on a good game simply because it's got 50 cent's name on it. Even if you don't like his music, you're not a real gamer if you turn down a fun time due to ignorance.. grow the hell up, i hate Spielberg but i loves me some boom blox
The Baron @ May 5th 2009 3:08AM
isn't this a bit racist?
Maverick Saturn @ May 5th 2009 7:50AM
Sigh, the epidemic has begun, fiddy has managed to brain wash gamers into thinking his game is actually good, noooooooooooooooooooooooo
People, I know the game wasn't bad, I'm taking the piss :D I went in with negativity came out not completly different minded, but more open minded about 50 Games.
Though I still think he should have a chat with EA about NFS (Need Fiddy Speed)
@ The Baron: No, lol, its not racist, I'm certainly not taking offence to it, I genuinly think 50 looks like Donkey Kong, lol The both are practically built the same
Sam Diaz @ May 4th 2009 10:10PM
Another skull?! Lame!
Vinner @ May 5th 2009 1:06PM
The plot was really lame, but I do have to admit, the game itself was actually pretty fun and entertaining. Upgrading taunts was sooooo worth it.
Jinsenken @ May 4th 2009 10:14PM
Lol@Zero Punctuation not finding this game that bad
Crusty Magic @ May 4th 2009 10:15PM

Mu93n @ May 4th 2009 10:24PM
50 cent ruins life....that is all
WiredKnight @ May 4th 2009 10:22PM
"I'd like to be a part of designing and marketing a video game..."
No. Fuck no. Real designers in the industry dedicate their lives to making great games. Making games professionally is a career, not a side project, not a whimsical interest. You can't just wake up one morning and say hey, I've got lots of money, I think I'll start making video games. You can't just up and do it, you have to work for the position and prove that you have a mind for design.
Now, maybe 50 chose the wrong career all along is actually a brilliant game designer. That remains to be seen. And excuse me if I'm skeptical.
Fx.Dr @ May 4th 2009 10:30PM
"You can't just wake up one morning and say hey, I've got lots of money, I think I'll start making video games."
Awww, way to kill the dream, dream killer. Now what am I supposed to do with these mountains of cash?
playwhutyalike (swine flu?) @ May 4th 2009 10:41PM
Why don't you ask all of the people in the gaming industry getting fired how they would feel if 50 could offer them jobs?
WiredKnight @ May 4th 2009 11:05PM
Because I imagine it's like asking people how they feel about being rescued off a deserted island by a sinking ship.
Manly Mcbeefington (Mr. ESC) @ May 4th 2009 11:17PM
If you got resources you already have 50% resolved the rest is logistic, management, publicity and development.
Manly Mcbeefington (Mr. ESC) @ May 4th 2009 11:18PM
Its easier to repair the ship than waiting another unset period of time for another boat.
The Dark Wayne @ May 4th 2009 11:29PM
actually, yeah he pretty much can do whatever he wants with his huge piles of money
WiredKnight @ May 4th 2009 11:45PM
@ Dark Wayne
I know and I hate it.
Most of you guys have some good points, I'm just bitter.
THE Ezio Auditore de Firenze (PSN slycooper_rocker) @ May 5th 2009 12:05AM
dark wayne was actually talking about HIMSELF but whatever...
Morisato @ May 5th 2009 1:55AM
Dark Wayne = 50 cent
carterk88 @ May 4th 2009 10:50PM
Hmmmm a musician whos actual music career is on a down slope turns to slapping their name on games to stay fresh in everyone's mind......sounds so familiar I just can't think of where I've seen this before. Oh well guess I'll go back to playing Guitar Hero Metallica lol
playwhutyalike (swine flu?) @ May 4th 2009 11:55PM
You sir, are fucking awesome. +1
Manly Mcbeefington (Mr. ESC) @ May 5th 2009 12:13AM
Oh snap!
M@sterShake @ May 5th 2009 1:20AM
given the usual life expectancy of a rap career, 50 is defying logic and time itself... the dude had a flop cd that sold like 5 million worldwide... stop being a jealous little prick, his game was better than anything you can ever make
Damian @ May 5th 2009 10:39AM
As long as my copy of Guitar Hero: 50 Cent comes with a gun peripheral, i will be happy.
Also i hope they make the sequel with a new health system, where you can take 8 bullets, but the 9th kills you.
Jon Acheson @ May 5th 2009 10:48AM
Except that Metallica just put out one of the best CDs of their career...
carmaction @ May 4th 2009 10:53PM
If 50 Cent, the soundtrack, the plot, the voice acting, and the idea of a jewel-encrusted skull being the entire premise of a videogame weren't included with 'Blood in the Sand' it would've been perfect.
That gameplay was DY-NO-MITE!
Khaled @ May 4th 2009 11:01PM
The game wasn't that bad!
Travis @ May 4th 2009 11:13PM
it's definitely GOTY, so far
The Dark Wayne @ May 4th 2009 11:30PM
If by saying he wants to make a new game he means swordfish should then yes
arrness @ May 4th 2009 11:50PM
i really wanted the first game... like really.
I'd just be laughing the whole way through
it didn't have trophies though, which kept me from getting it.
a sequel (which would have to have trophies) would be well fit in my collection
Insight (Fatass Defense Force) @ May 5th 2009 5:56AM
"it didn't have trophies though, which kept me from getting it."
>.>
a real shame
kentuckyfried @ May 4th 2009 11:54PM
I've been wanting this game, just for silly shits and giggles. But it's still clocking in at Amazon for $60.00! That's some staying power...
Brodo @ May 4th 2009 11:58PM
Yo Gangsta
Mu93n @ May 5th 2009 12:39AM
i think 50 Cent would be the Uwe Boll of video game designers personally
Anticrawl @ May 5th 2009 12:22AM
50 Cent wants to make Blood on the Sand sequel, original IP. First thing I thought is he wants a sequal but it to be an original IP... So the next game will be One Dolla or Dolla Bill Yo or Dolla Bill: My Blood is Green? God I hate rap.
Anticrawl @ May 5th 2009 12:24AM

Barak Obama probably likes 50 Cent because he's always going on about 'change'.
The Baron @ May 5th 2009 3:11AM
50 cent is awful in a good way.
Uwe Boll is just awful.
SoulBlade @ May 5th 2009 1:02AM
gamers dont want another one..
J.Goodwin @ May 5th 2009 7:10AM
Gamers played Blood on the Sands, and most definitely DO want another one. You clearly haven't played it, and therefore have no say in the matter.
wesley johnson @ May 5th 2009 7:54AM
Well, as much as I hate defending 50 ... here it goes.
He didn't design the game, a real design team that does this for their career designed it. Your rant would have more legs if he made the title on his diamond-encrusted supercomputer. He, however, did not. The success of BotS has brought Swordfish, the developer, more attention than any of their previous projects. So, I'm sure the career game developers are quite happy 50 chose to do this.
