"[The] always satisfying lunge maneuver..."

...is tempting to spam, especially in close quarters, but a joy nevertheless.

The game is really awesome (at least as far as I could tell from the demo), but man the graphics look like ass. Well, maybe not that bad, but definitely sub-par. Such a great game deserves better. Any other game I wouldn't even mention it. I'd be like whatever, I'll "put up" with the barely passable graphics for the awesome gameplay.

But seeing Wolverine totally unleash on enemies, instead of the "comic book violence" we're all used to, quite frankly makes me squeal with childlike glee.

@Lars

Actually I think the models, textures and animations are all pretty good. I think the biggest thing that hurts the graphics is actually the colors. They seem very washed out, but lowering the Brightness to one higher than the minimum really seemed to help. Gamma still seems off, though.

OMG "Caged" Edition is SO hard!! You have to talk things out with all your adversaries.

It took me forever to to negotiate with the Sentinel to not blow my face off. I kept spamming the X button (Wolverine equips glasses and quotes Gandhi) but I later realized I had to press Up and Y for the "I have a Dream" speech.

Uncaged edition refers to the PS3 and 360 versions which are substantially more bloody than the Wii/PS2 versions. To the best of my knowledge there are not multiple versions for the PS3/360 it is differentiating those systems from Wii/PS2 versions.

It was short and pretty good for what it was from start to finish.
The puzzles are simple, the majority of enemies were soft and yielding like a nerf ball.

The fact that Raven even managed to construct a somewhat coherent plot out of the half-digested blocks vomited out by the film's script is, well, a bit of a Marvel.

"unexplained African lava golem"

I was under the impression that African lava golems were commonplace in real world Africa. Are you telling me that they lied to me, Ludwig?

I think I'm going to go cry now. :(

Then again, maybe it is true and Ludwig just doesn't go outside enough to notice.

Anyone notices that God of War is still not dethroned. When it comes to pacing, action time events and bloody carnage, no other game has come close. Not Wolverine, not Ninja Blade not Too Human. Kratos is still king.

I think you make a good point. The God of War series is incredibly popular. You would think a possible successor, or at least challenger, to the throne would have emerged. Possibly Dante's Inferno will be that challenger.

I love DMC3 to all hell, and while teh combat is a hell a lot better then GOW1/2, the pacing, story and other elements are not.

I will always prefer DMC3 to all GoW games, but GoW is still best at what it does.

fine It's a very solid base to start building the definitive Wolverine game. Kind of like Spider-Man was for the PSone. That lead to Ultimate Spider-Man game which in my opinion is the best one out of all of them they have built on that design.

It's a solid rental, you'll be done with it in a good ten hours on medium difficulty. And that's ten bloody fun hours, make no mistake. Since I'm somewhat of a collector, I bought it straight away, but in hindsight I should have rented it. The money could have gone to either HAWX or Dark Athena...

The game is pretty good and im really enjoying it, but it really feels like the combat should have been a lot deeper. He only has like what, 6 different combos? And all of them are just varied numbers of X that end in Y. It might be nostalgia as I cant quite remember how good the combat system, but I think I enjoyed X2 Wolverines Revenge a bit more than this one, although the no limit on claws is surely a welcome improvement over several other wolverine games

There are many more moves than that. You really have to mess around with the controls to find all of them. I'm at the deadpool fight on my hard play through after having spent three LONG days of getting every other trophy i needed besides the hard play through trophy n i was still finding new moves n combos just b4 i got to deadpool. Some are dependent on the health level of the enemy some are dependent on whether or not ur in berserk etc. I have been really surprised how deep the combat system is. I especially like how even the same move, quick kill for example, has a different animation for each enemy type. S o yeah the button combo is the same but u see something different on screen depending on the enemy. The same thing for the dismemberment move. Theres also the differences in how long you hold triangle down at the end of the combo to get a different finish, if you throw them in the air at the end then theres like 3 or 4 more different combos u can get out of that. Anyway yeah most of the combos are created by primarily 2 buttons but theres way more there than you'd think they could do with 2 buttons. I probably still havent found all of them. I know theres some harder to pull off combos that involve the dodge buttons but i've only accidentally done one of those a couple times. Also I just want to say to everyone else that this game is really good. the story is good the graphics are good, neither are "super great", but what is awesome about the game is the gameplay which i think is the most important part. a game can be pretty n still be ass. I have about 40 hours of gameplay in since friday n it's not getting stale. I would definitely recommend this game especially if you like god of war it plays very similar. It's also a fairly easy platinum, just need to beat deadpool n i got it. 4-5 days for a platinum is a good hook for all the trophy whores out there.

yeah i already figured all that stuff out, how each enemy has a unique quick kill and after a certain health you get an execution move, but still, none of the combos are real extensive, especially not the dodge ones they pretty much have you leap over an enemy and punch them in the back and thats it. The point is that although there are different animations, it's still the same buttons and nowhere near as extensive as almost any other action game like Ninja Gaiden, Ninja Blade, God of War or what have you.

Three times? You're giving them too much credit. You fight that lava monster closer to 10 times by the end of the game. I also didn't like that the strategy for each was exactly the same. Dodge, get on their back, slash away, repeat, repeat, repeat.

Other than that it was a really solid game.

You don't have to fight them that way only, that's just the safest way. I found it helpful to jump in there face then do the 6 times square combo n end it with a heavy attack then while you have some rage left do a chain of claw drills. You can get them down in health really quick that way especially after you have leveled up. You do have to jump on their back for the final blow though so you can rip their head off. You can do the same thing with the wendigo's n mark 1 prototypes except you don't have to be on their back for the final blow. It's really fun to go back n just slaughter them however you want after u get level 40 n replay chapters for combat trophies.
