"After all the CGI they released to hype us... Well... The gameplay didn't even look that good."

So I guess this is your first Final Fantasy game.

Also agreed with what Naeem said.

'Kitase explained that a PS3-exclusive demo would be unfair to the Western audience that's also expecting an Xbox 360 demo'

that's bullshit. how about being fair to the Western audience that bought a PS3 heavily based on the game, FFXIII? i dont care if the game is on 360 too, everyone should be able to enjoy it, but i feel like i've been waiting for it much longer than Xbox only owners and that doesn't seem right to hold it back even more because of the 360 afterthought. and it's even more infuriating to me since i own both the PS3 and 360 and can't play it on either.

what a horrible idea. If everyone can't have it then no one can have it? F. that. This calls for an online petition.

It'll make sense if they packaged the demo for both console versions in with Advent Children. 5gb's is a huge download and if people are still using the 20gb 360 hard drive like I am then there will be problems.

yeah but u gotta remember that the 360 can't play Blu-Rays at all leaving the only option being to include at least the 360 version on a separate DVD which would cost SE more money. this whole thing is a mess and i hope it doesn't happen again honestly.

Releasing a demo for both XBox 360 and PS3 seems like a no brainer when it comes to marketing and hyping up the game. Wonder what the real problem is?

I get the whole opening up to all of the audience both on the 360 and PS3 but an outsider would say that Square Enix and Sony are really having problems with each other. I wonder if this stems from some kind of contract or negotiations that went south. I mean to see the lack of respect for the Sony brand and its audience. i get that 360 is got the bigger audience but Sony consoles has been known to be a RPG friendly system, yet Square Enix has done nothing for them. Three JRPG games have come out for the X360 and not a mention of any of them being ported to the PS3 anytime soon. I feel that if Square Enix didn't have probably a major contract with Sony to make Final Fantasy 13 for that system, they would cancel that and do it X360 exclusive.

Man, i wonder what Sony did to Square to annoy them so much.

It's more like if they hadn't already done so much work on the PS3 version it would be cancelled.

y'know, i pretty much agree with EVERY comment on here, everyone seems to have grown up from being youtube fanboy to just appreciative of the modern money making age we live in. Everyone seems to have a clear head, and the same idea, which begs the question, is'nt there a very simple answer?

and that answer is what everyone is illustrating, it is simple; it is'nt fair to punish the few to make the many happy. And in this case, the simplisitc answer is to treat the west demogrpahic the same as the japanese market, by making the demo a blu-ray disc insert within advent children complete movie, rather than an expensive, tricky and probably-not-going-to-happen download from PSN or live.

and the reason why im so shocked about the producer saying this, is because having a demo exclusivly with a blue-ray movie does not undermine the 360 market... because out of the box the 360 does not have blu-ray compatability UNLIKE THE PLAYSTATION 3

thank you.

So not only will PS3 owners have to wait until the game gets ported down to 10 DVDs, but now we can't get a demo because it wouldn't be "fair" to 360 owners?

Is it fair that Star Ocean is a timed exclusive and M$ paid to delay the PS3 version?

You are dead to me Square Enix!

I'm leaving for Japan on Saturday... Anyone want me to pick them up a copy of Advent Children Complete/FFXIII Demo while I'm there? Seriously, I'll pick you up a copy if you really, really want it.

I mean, of course you pay for the original cost + shipping from Seattle to wherever you are (and maybe like $5 for my effort? :), but it'll probably be much cheaper than the $100+ you'll pay on ebay.

Money talks more than fanboys tears. You cry and whine but in the end, if the game is good to great you will spend the money. MS strategy to make sure that their console gets the big name titles is nothing but smart. Square/Enix taking MS money to release a title that will Sell huge on both consoles instead of just good like MGS4 one one console is also the smart move.

For every one fanboy that cries in his milk that MS was smart enough to include a clause that US/EU does not get a PS3 Demo unless the 360 can better wise up quick because in these economic times, Money will always talk more than your petitions or tears.

Most of you wanted competition and you have it. There is the good (Sony copying Most of MS good ideals) and the bad (MS throwing their money around to keep the 360 strong). When all said and done, having a limited demo will not make one bit of difference to FF sales in US/EU so in reality, crying about not getting the demo or setting up a dumb petition is a waste of time and effort.

You are right, and as a matter of fact, many understand that.

The problem lies on the fact that companies think that we are idiots, and make up excuses about why they hold back a product, in this case a demo for the PS3 users claiming that it isn't fair to the 360 owners.

PS3 owners have had the same problem with Capcom, that because it wouldn't be "fair" to 360 owners, they had to match the other release, thing is, in both cases, it ended up not being fair to PS3 owners, as a matter of fact, whenever this "being fair" bull comes up, it is PS3 owners that end up with the short end of the stick.

Interesting enough, I was in Japan 2 weeks ago. It's really no big wonder why FF Advent Children sold the way it did with or without the demo. You cannot walk into any electronic store and not see a big advertisement for the movie. After about a week, I really was getting tired of FF trailer then continued to play in just about every store I went into.

Brings a smile upon my face.

One of my favorite series, Coming to 360.

Aside from that.

If our xbox's could retain a FULL xbox 360 game and XBOX originals. We could easily retain a 5gb demo.

Is anyone surprised?

Once Square Enix made the decision to publish it on the 360.
If a demo came out in the west it was going to be cross platform making blu ray option out of the question.

I feel for my PS3 brothers but I think the best option is to release a disk extra disk with the 360 version.

After outside the US 5 gig is the majority of some peoples download cap.

I don't even mind that FF 13 is coming to 360. Everyone should have the chance to play the game. Square Enix has shafted Sony so many times though.

1-The PS3 version should be released first if it's finished. Similar to what they planed on doing with the Last Remenent (which was a failure anyway). Why should we wait while the game gets ported down to 10 DVDs?

2- Star Ocean. M$ only has two first party studios, so they way they try to compete is with timed exclusives and exclusive DLC. M$ actually pays to delay PS3 releases in order to try to compete with Sony's army of first party studios. In the end, PS3 users get the game late, but also get tons of first party exclusives.

3- They canceled The Last Reminnant (because it sucked), but they will not inform PS3 users that it has been canceled. They just pretend like it never happened and we'll eventually forget.

4 - Now PS3 users will not get a demo because t wouldn't be "fair" to xbobx please fix me users?

I'm going to wait and get FF 13 used. I would rather give Game Stop my money than to support this crap. More PS3 users should do the same. Vote with your wallet. Let Square Enix know that it's not ok to treat PS3 users like garbage.

Trebek-
I'm glad someone shares my cynicism.

Nobody should have to pay anything for a demo and a good 90% of the crap they try and pass as DLC should be free or just additions to a real expansion pack. When you consider how overpriced most DLC is, ps3 owners should be ecstatic about not being able to get ripped off by R* & Bethesda. Of course you still have LBP & Burnout to prey on you with all of their overpriced crap.

It started a little before this generation but gamers are proving to be the biggest suckers in the world. It's no wonder self important lawyers and politicians use us as whipping boys when someone goes nuts.
The profits raped in by gameslop alone, show how easy it is to take advantage of the common gamer. Throw in a spontaneously combusting machine that sells like crazy and ridiculously overpriced dlc and I'm surprised gameslop doesn't try getting their victims to preorder bridges. It's as if gamers like being walked all over.

You also used to be able to get money for taking part in a beta; the times they are-a-changin'.

Wow Square must be getting paid from M$. They didn't mind releasing Last Remnant on Xbox early although it is supposed to come out for PS3 as well. Square Enix is failing this generation.

seriously this is the reason why I don't like MICROSOFT they ruin everything now i have to buy the Japanese copy for some rediculous price somewhere online. The US release will suck because it doesn't have a demo. Microsoft always ruins everything. seriously I gave up on them because they couldn't make a good product the 360 is the worst console ever. It breaks I bought 3 of them and traded out 6 of them and then decided to give up this is the saddest excuse for a console sony will kick xbox's butt this year because of all the great exclusive games coming out soon. Infamous rules by the way. But seriously MICROSOFT GRRRRRRRR so stupid. Good luck porting that game onto like 60 discs...hahaha..

apparently the PS3 version is even like 5 discs!!! so the Crap-Box's must have like 10 atleast!!! and that the gameplay is like over 500 hours of pure action!!! and it will come with the guide book because some of the chests in the game have like 15 digits and are next to impossible to get through without the guide book... thats only what ive been told i'm not sure bout the true details but it will be a freaken sick game if all of this is true.... but i think maybe the 500 hours thing was over exagerated somewhere down the line
