Looks like the ratchet and clank games.....the ps2 ones (sorry couldn't resist)

*looks at bottom of article*

......oh.

I think it could make for a nice 2 or 3 day rental, but it's probably one of those games I'd play then forget about a week or two later.

That's exactly what I was thinking when I first saw it. I mean, the face is pretty much identical to clank's.

people from the Ratchet games changed sides so, sadly it shows where they used to work. Some people get so focused while working that one might not notice a guy is remaking his previous work.

The graphics looks very good...

It's nice to see third party developers finally using a good art style on Wii games instead of trying to achieve the same graphics as the HD consoles...

It "only" took them 2 years to get it... they should have learned from Nintendo since the beggining: Super Mario Galaxy looks beautiful, and not only for a Wii game... ir third party developers put more effort, they could achieve those kind of visuals or even better.

*Spoiler in the video:

Everything is real time... why third party devs can't achieve those graphics on the Wii?

Uh, Fernando, I'd believe that everything in that vid was real time if I hadn't seen nearly the same level of artifacting on my screen from the Wii itself when I beat the game.

Well... the artifacting is because the video quality is not very good. But the game doesn't use CGI, not at all.

And no... I have a Sharp Aquos LCD and a JVC CRT HDTV, and the game doesn't do any artifacting.

Maybe you need the component cables.

Haha, Fernando, what with my having been the biggest Ninty fanboy on this site besides you and Sammy at one point you think I wouldn't have component cables? Nintendo branded, sucka

I think it's too early to praise the graphics. The first screenshots released of any Wii game often look fairly nice considering the platform it's on, but later on the real screenshots come out and once again they're underwhelming.

Whats so "spy" about this game. It looks like the enemy meets you half way to the fight each time.

While I do agree that the game does look pretty good, I have to ask? Does the game still maintain some of the personality seen in the first trailer? Cause if not, that's kind of disappointing.

Hmmm... Kirby games tend to do that, if you're playing co-op. You have to be close to the other person, though.

Hey ESC, I'm still occasionally trying to slug through the GoW2 campaign myself, dunno if you're up for co-op at all, but if so let me know what your GT is.

recent Wii screenshots seem to have jumped in resolution and enabled bucket loads more anti-aliasing. Whats up with that?

These are 848 x 448. I think that's a Wii native resolution (sort of - actually 640x448, but scaled to widescreen), so from that point of view these screens could have come from a Wii...

...on their way to Photoshop, that is.

As for the 'antialiased' look, you gain some smoothing by stretching the pixels, but probably not that much. Apart from Photoshop, or genuine technology improvements that give full anti-aliasing on Wii, another possibility would be to build a 'screenshot mode' into the game so that it takes a second to render but does all the antialiasing nicely... developers might justify this on the grounds that it looks better and you don't notice the jaggies when it's moving, anyhow...

So: resolution not suspicious at all, antialiasing yes suspicious.

The Wii can render this sort of thing, proven by the native resolution that Brawl screenshots are apparently taken in (if you bring them over to PC, you can see), so that whole "Screenshot mode" idea might not be too far off, sam.

There are already more good looking games coming out than I can play--The Conduit, Cursed Mountain, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, Indiana Jones (maybe), Ghostbusters, Little King's Story, Overlord, Muramasa: Demon Blade, Dead Space: Extraction, Monster Hunter 3, Arc Rise Fantasia, Crystal Bearers, and Red Steel 2 (maybe, but looking good).

Right now, my 360 doesn't have half that number of 2009 titles I'm interested in.
