Nintendo, throughout the history of Pokemon, has a very common predictable time line for releases. It's usually a late summer, early fall Japanese release followed by a 9 month delay for an American release. So April/March of next year, we can probably expect this.

Personally, I don't think Gold and Silver were the best games, I think the reason their said to be the best is largely nostalgia. They did have a lot of great features and it was definitely better than Ruby/Sapphire, but I think Diamond/Pearl brought back a lot of the elements that were great in Gold and made them better.

Instead of having two smaller regions we have one big one that takes around 40 hours to get through, the day/night cycle was brought back without changing the encounter rate to nothing but Hoothoots at night, and so forth.

I'm still super excited to play this though, and I have the little Ho-oh and Lugia logos.

Based on FR/LG, there won't be a third version. They're remakes, not
another 3-part series.

Sorta psyched about this, considering that Gold and Silver were at the height of my own personal poke-mania, but at the time i was way too immature to play the games legitimately (first two gym leaders i did on my own, then some radical cheating started, mostly aid from friends and from Pokemon Blue)

Hopefully they make catching all 493 possible between the 5 DS versions, just like they made all 300+ doable among the 5 GBA versions.

I think the whole point of these newer games was to eliminate the need for the GBA/Gamecube games. You'll be able to get all the Pokemon just with the main DS games now (and one or two spin-offs for the promo guys).

Assuming of course they add in Mewtwo, otherwise he'll be the lone exception.

I can't play the new Pokemon games, so hopefully, these will retain as much of the original gameplay as possible and just have updated graphics/audio and functionality. Silver is such a great game, and I got it by mistake after the whole Pokemon craze died down... Couldn't put it down for more than a year.

That's the most common misconception about the series. People assume that kids play Pokemon, and that only kids should be playing it. I read some stats a while ago proving that a large percentage of the audience are actually adults, which is probably due to the whole other game under the surface. EV training, WiFi battling, Contests, etc

Just go into the store and say you're buying it for your son or something XD

Sweet.

I remember buying the first one the day it came out at K-Mart for $25 dollars, I remember it was raining. I also remember losing the game and have since not recovered it. I still have the box though :)

It's nice how Gold and Silver will get the same treatment as Red and Green went to GBA. Very good titles. I hope they won't cut the point after the game. When you beat the elite 4, you can go back to Kanto from Red and Blue version, to face the Gym Leaders there, their elite 4, then eventually TRAINER RED.

I'm starting to get bored with the Pokemon series, though. In Diamond I finally got my dream team, but Platinum (Diamond/Pearl DX) sets me back to day one, with the same starters. I'm just tired with starting from scratch every release of a game that seems to

I get this feeling in the back of my head that Emerald/Sapphire/Ruby will be remade sometime after Gold and Silver to compensate for the fact that they can't think of any more pokemon.

Prediction: These remakes will bring back the Pokemon series to popularity so even high schoolers can be proud to play this game. Also the record destroying game sales of these remakes will save the US economy and will bring works peace.

Heart Gold....yet another pokemon game where people will buy the cooler sounding Soul Silver, so as not to be dorky...even though buying pokemon in the first place isn't. Looks like I'm gettin gold while so as to easily trade with all the "manly" silver folk.

Seriously though...CANNOT wait. I must agree with others on that these 2 were by far the best, they only took step backwards with the rest. Heck, if this has the Kanto and Jhoto regions, AND some islands from green and red, I'm porting everything from Pearl and calling this my new pokemon home.

Except these set of games actually have a legitimate reason to be remade, unlike those repeated remakes of the first few Final Fantasy games. The Jhoto Pokemon are damn near non-existent in all of the 3rd and 4th gen games without having to go to (very) extreme heights just to get them (buying multiple games where they're very thinly spread apart).

That, and that this is arguably the best set of Pokemon games (think: Pokemon equilavent of FF7 remake, but with a legit reason and a company behind it that does not [censored] announce a game 3+ years in advance (while ticking off the fanbase by filling in those three years with a ton of other games)).

That's why this one gets such positive reaction. I can guarantee you that if Ruby/Sapphire was remade (or R/B/Y remade again) instead of G/S, it would gather a ridiculous amount of negative reaction instead.

Thus far, games in the Pokemon series have only been remade once, not including this.

And for everyone else reading this, don't give me that 'each Pokemon game is a remake' crap, you'd just be showing your ignorance.

If this is a remake, will they bring back the Pokemon Gold and Silver starters for those who weren't lucky enough to play this when it first came out?

Yes, that's pretty much guaranteed. Looking at what they did with the FireRed/LeafGreen pair, a lot can be guessed about what the game will include.

Generation II was easily the best and most fun...Very excited to finally see a Totodile as my first Pokemon again...also can't wait to take the train from Goldenrod City, and visit the radio station...and name the red haired guy Douche...man, those were fun times. I'm curious about the Pokemon following thing. It's probably just your starter, but what if it evolves? And if it isn't just the starter, can my Arceus follow me around? (Cause that would be epic.) Can you still use the GS Ball to get Celebii? Many questions that await answering...
