Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising later than expected

For a (guess at a) more specific date, we looked to retailers. GameStop lists the game's release date as September 1, while Amazon lists September 30. We've inquired about an official date with Codemasters, but until then, we can guess that it's somewhere in the "September" area.

I honestly think no one cares about this game... especially with MAG and COD: MF2
all I hear are crickets
sicsided @ May 7th 2009 10:21AM
oh, there's quite a few people who care. Ever since it one like 10 game of the year awards back in the day, and was fucking awesome, we are waiting patiently.
InFaMoUs1- @ May 7th 2009 10:29AM
dont take it literally.. but imo the game looks like nothing spacial but that's the case with most FPS's of this genre
Duke @ May 7th 2009 11:13AM
I'm interested in this game for sure, but I would be lying if I didn't have a lot more interest in MAG right now.
Cr4sh Dummy @ May 7th 2009 11:17AM
Well technically it's not an FPS, it's a Tactical shooter and it's the squeal to the original Operation Flashpoint game. Some people that played the original Xbox game are anticipating it, like me, even though it may not be a Modern Warfare 2.
wonderweazel @ May 7th 2009 12:16PM
I care about this game. My clan and I are really into tactical shooters, and it doesn't get much more tactical than this.
The Baron @ May 7th 2009 12:27PM
Which genre, insanely hardcore FP-war simulator?
It's a pretty crowded market.
Neuromancer @ May 7th 2009 1:07PM
I care
So BOOYAH
markod2002 @ May 7th 2009 1:45PM
idiot go and play your arcade shooters
Anticrawl @ May 7th 2009 4:37PM
Uhh shooter fans that actually like a challenge that's more than just who gets the biggest gun/spawns in the right place/camps the other team/fires first care. Or shooter fans that ready to go “an hero” because their favorite genre is oversaturated with identical run and gun shooters that don't offer more variety (you know, games like the Call of Duty series, the Halo series, Killzone series, etc etc).
I can’t wait for Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising personally. I might even buy it on both the PC and 360 just so I can enjoy it with as many people as possible.
whazam1337 @ May 8th 2009 9:38PM
dumb bitch
plxplz @ May 7th 2009 10:16AM
ewww, i hope they dont F* this up, trailer seemed kind of cheesy tbh.
some sites are listing this game already, wonder how if reldate is not confirmed yet http://sfeed.com/item/8545/
Marvelli @ May 7th 2009 10:18AM
Their website still states Summer 2009 - just fyi.

Well this isn't developed by Bohemia Interactive who made Op Flashpoint. BI and Codemasters had a nasty falling out and BI lost the IP, but kept the technology. The OFP Flash team made Armed Asault and are currently working on Armed Assault 2. To be honest, I hope both OFP 2 and ArmA 2 turn out to be great games, becasue there really hasnt been a military game as vast and as realsitic as OPF was. Most games aim for a cinematic action based style of combat, which is good, but I long for an experience like when I first played OFP back when PC gaming was peaking. Nothing has matched that for me and it will allways be in my personal top five games of all time.
X-singular @ May 7th 2009 11:04AM
if it's anything like the first game(Operation Flashpoint:Cold War Crisis) then i am getting it,DAY 1.

Malden,Everon and Kolgujev...........HERE I COME!!!
F0NZ @ May 7th 2009 11:06AM
Even though Bohemia is not be involved (IMO, OFP and ArmA are by far the best FPS tactical games ever) I hope OFP:DR is a move in the same direction as its predecessor.
And I, for one, do care about this title.
candafilm @ May 7th 2009 11:37AM
I still play the original OFP more than most games I have. I can't wait for this and ArmA 2 to come out.
Manly Mcbeefington (Mr. ESC) @ May 7th 2009 12:41PM
Is that good? ,I have no idea.
maxpontiac @ May 7th 2009 11:36AM
Make the game right, and folks will buy it.
It is much higher on my list the MAG and Modern Warfare 2.
Neuromancer @ May 7th 2009 1:08PM
I followed the link but no videos ever loaded, what the hell.
BJ is Gooder @ May 7th 2009 1:11PM
I can't wait for this...
But I guess I'll have to.
Teabag @ May 7th 2009 1:22PM
The website still shows 'Summer 09' in big bold white letters. Wut?
Edward @ May 7th 2009 1:32PM
I guess Codemasters removed the map editor. That has lost the heart of some. Hopefully it was a good decision. If not, i hope they can implement it in a dlc.
Douche Bigalow @ May 7th 2009 2:46PM
Personally I think it's awesome that they 'broke up', that way we get TWO hardcore military sims, probably close to each other.
d889 @ May 7th 2009 3:23PM
GOD DAMN!
operation flashpoint is probably the best game ever made after half-life 1998, the gameplay is so fucking amazing and the online CTI mods were out of this fucking world.
i CANNOT WAIT for this game, the graphics look amazing, the island is just as big as the first flashpoint ... after resident evil 5 this was the only other game on my list to buy .... now im pissed.
The Dark Wayne @ May 7th 2009 3:43PM
Dang, not only was I looking forward to his because it was a game during summer, but I really was anxious to try out a military game that's as realistic as possible. At first this summer seemed like it was going to be full of awesome games, but almost everyday now one of those games is getting delayed
Anticrawl @ May 7th 2009 4:29PM
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.............................!!!
You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!
