PSN Thursday: 'Finally, some PS1 games' edition

Puzzle Quest: Galactrix makes its PSN debut this week in the US, no doubt intending to feed off the free publicity from the new Star Trek movie. Other than that, there's a lot of new DLC for many different titles, as well as three new PS1 games and even a few full PSP games. What is this, Europe?

Chris D.(PSN: Aggie_CEO | XBL:The Aggie CEO | Steam: Aggie_CEO @ May 7th 2009 8:07PM
who in the hell is going to buy that bowling game when HVB is a shitton better?? sure you can argue that you cant play HVB on the PSP but still...
I'm glad they are adding PS1 Titles but hell add some that make sense....
Tez @ May 8th 2009 12:45AM
They did. R Type fucking Delta.
Fade2blac @ May 7th 2009 8:08PM
I want PS1 games with trophies!!!
InFaMoUs1- @ May 7th 2009 9:25PM
wtf!? so want sony to ask devs to add trophies to games developed more than XX amount of years? I hope your not that stupid?
Fade2blac @ May 7th 2009 9:41PM
@ InFaMoUs1
Microsoft does it all the time with their developers! Just look at some of their old games, Banjo Tooie, Sonic, Duke Nukem, Dig Dug, and so on. I hope you're not that stupid to realize that it can and should be done!

deathxrebirth @ May 7th 2009 9:48PM
While not a bad idea entirely... Let's work on getting developers to actually RELEASE some good ps1 titles before we talk about trophy support.
j.howlett @ May 8th 2009 6:45AM
those are remakes and are not xbox games. halo ce doesn't have achievements
tmacairjordan87 @ May 7th 2009 8:08PM
Uhhh...I think I'll wait for the capcom ones as well as FF7 and MGS 1. Credit for putting ps1 games up for once, but you need to put decent ones up as well.
Mr Khan @ May 7th 2009 8:36PM
Of course you wouldn't like Spyro 2
of course.
tmacairjordan87 @ May 7th 2009 8:40PM
Nope I didn't even like those games (crash and spyro) when they came out, and I was like 11 then. Too busy playing RE 2, 3, MGS, dino crisis etc etc.
DangerMouse @ May 7th 2009 8:54PM
Same here. It's great to see them on the store (whether or not they keep it up has yet to be seen) but Capcom had so many great games on the PS1 that I'll wait for them to see how they go about it. Strider2, SFA2/3, RE's, etc,. They've got an incredible catalog.
Kenny Powers Fastball (PSN johnnynumber5) @ May 7th 2009 10:12PM
Unless I'm mistaken they also have a new PS1 logo which does coincide with a big E3 announcement of some high profile titles. I'm hoping for some obscure titles like the Tecmo's Deception series & higher profile games like Jedi Power Battles, GEX & Battle Arena Toshinden in addition to the most popular ones.
I've bought a few PS1 classics like Suikoden, Tekken 2 and Medieval II. I've been thinking about picking up Wild Arms, Warhawk & the original SYphon Filter because I never got a chance to play those games.
The big gun is going to be when that FF7 drops online.
THE Ezio Auditore de Firenze (PSN slycooper_rocker) @ May 7th 2009 10:17PM
i got symphony of the night and wild arms a long while back. then i got syphon filter free with qore.
tmacairjordan87 @ May 7th 2009 10:20PM
I think some more higher profile games getting announced at E3 (and probably being ready during their conference) is almost a given by now. It just feels like it's going to happen.
TheDemiurge @ May 7th 2009 11:15PM
I'm thinking that Sony is saving FFVII as a megaton announcement at E3
Doombot (zuburi) @ May 7th 2009 11:35PM
@Kahn:
I always hated the Spyro games. "Mascot" games in general pissed me off - most of the characters seemed like they were drawn up in board room meetings, a la Poochie.
Feel free to let me know if there was a good one after the PS1 games, as I just ignored him past that.
harusame @ May 8th 2009 2:15PM
Final Fantasy VII International is already available in Hong Kong PSN Store and it costs 3.5 times more than the other PS1 titles. It'll probably be $20 / 20€ when it is released in the west. Way to milk it, SE!
No Kills @ May 7th 2009 8:09PM
Meh/good update.
Qore and savage moon demo here i come.
furious @ May 7th 2009 8:12PM
Crash Team Racing, PSone!
traceur_ryuk_shinigami @ May 7th 2009 8:54PM
With multiplayer support
Fade2blac @ May 7th 2009 8:13PM
I am also not liking the new pricing scheme for BUZZ add-on packs! $6 was a lot easier justify than $8!
brickwalker0 @ May 7th 2009 8:14PM
just now coming out with a Savage Moon demo?
already bought it, pretty good TD but it needed a perk, like online play or a different mode other than just building towers.
Saria the Cat @ May 7th 2009 8:16PM
Is it just me or are those letters "GALACTRIX" so in-your-face they actually feel threatening and are hard to read?
Saria the Cat @ May 7th 2009 8:17PM
And what the heck am I doing commenting on a PSN post?!
traceur_ryuk_shinigami @ May 7th 2009 8:19PM
I don't know...
Manly Mcbeefington (Mr. ESC) @ May 7th 2009 8:21PM
Now that you mention it yeah and the capitalization is all wrong.
Levi @ May 7th 2009 8:21PM
I don't know, you're obviously a cat, and cats are obviously 360 fanboys.
^_^
JDHexen @ May 7th 2009 8:32PM
You do know that curiosity killed the cat. :D
Saria the Cat @ May 7th 2009 8:33PM
@Levi: Oh, yeah, didn't mean to sound like a fangirl. It's just that PS3 news like this isn't relevant to me since I don't own one yet. :P I guess I just HAD to comment on those crazy letteringses.
Markez @ May 7th 2009 9:06PM
It looks like they're squishing the 'T'
Sora @ May 7th 2009 8:17PM
PATA PATA PATA PON. Finally some decent PSP releases =D
Manly Mcbeefington (Mr. ESC) @ May 7th 2009 8:18PM
Loco Roco 2 was released in February and it kick ass.
THE Ezio Auditore de Firenze (PSN slycooper_rocker) @ May 7th 2009 8:44PM
patapon 2 was just released and it kicks even more ass.
Kenny Powers Fastball (PSN johnnynumber5) @ May 7th 2009 10:14PM
There have been some wicked good PSP releases lately.
Give Hammerin Hero and Resistance Retribution as shot in addition to Loco Roco 2. That should tide you over for a bit.
THE Ezio Auditore de Firenze (PSN slycooper_rocker) @ May 7th 2009 10:18PM
let me repeat myself
patapon 2 was just released and it kicks even more ass.
Manly Mcbeefington (Mr. ESC) @ May 7th 2009 8:18PM
Pursuit FORCE!!! I wish Big big Japan made a new one.}}I never got to play PF2 tho.
waves @ May 7th 2009 8:19PM

DrunkRaba @ May 7th 2009 8:21PM
I'm all over the Patapon 2!!! I'll get Galactrix when it lowers in price. Awesome for ps1 titles finally added.
Anyone see if the new themes are any good? =D
thetveye @ May 8th 2009 11:20AM
SPYRO!
Thank you, Sony!
James @ May 7th 2009 8:33PM
Mmmph.. dark day.. just a dark day.
JDHexen @ May 7th 2009 8:35PM
Well this update is much better than the past ones; guess I'll just get Spyro 2.
whazam1337 @ May 7th 2009 8:40PM
Im happy NOW
GENTLEMEN @ May 7th 2009 8:43PM
One of the PSone classics is pretty damn good. R-type Delta is the prize out of these three and should be purchased immediately. I already bought it in the hong kong store about a year ago, but if you haven't got it, I'd get it simply because R-Type Delta stands up to Einhander as one of the best Shmups released stateside.
Tez @ May 8th 2009 12:48AM
Seriously. They release one of the greatest PS1 shooters ever made and all I see is people bitching about "Bowling."
j.howlett @ May 7th 2009 8:47PM
i'll download the wolverine demo even though i have the game already, and savage moon demo. i'll hold back the LBP dlc for a group purchase later.
