Has it been confirmed if this is online/Live-enabled? :) It sure would be nice.

Why, it sure did... not sure why I was under the impression otherwise. I suppose it was a launch title, but that's no excuse.

I rescind my statement above :)

I am very glad that Joystiq has taken over XBOX 360 Fanboy. X3F would never have sports stories. I am glad sports gaming is getting the coverage it deserves. And I am also glad that Dustin doesn't post as much since he is very biased.

I agree 100% X3F would never post about sports gaming. I also like that the older writers aren't writing as much.

Been playing Fight Night since the beginning and this game takes it to the next level just like each of its predecessors. Hopefully it will be Live enabled so i will learn I am not any good at this game either.

Sounds pretty cool, but I think I'm going to choose UFC 2009 instead. I loved FN3, but boxing has really gone downhill recently, and I prefer MMA.

I enjoy MMA as well, but have you played the UFC demo? It's great seeing those fighters in a game, and pounding someone pinned on the ground is great, but the game feels really sluggish, like you're fighting in molasses.

@Kevin Kelley

Fighting in molasses? Sluggish?

Did you play the same UFC Undisputed demo that I did? The game is super responsive and super technical (IMO of course) and is the most accurate representation of the sport thats ever been done. It's certainly not for casual fans or casual gamers (not saying you are) because of how sophistocated the controls and manuevers are to execute. I think the speed and pacing of the game are perfect all things considered. You also have to account for the fact that it's a new IP and when you take that into consideration it's even more astounding. It feels like the fourth or fifth iteration of the franchise.

I didn't think I was going to be as blown away by UFC Undisputed as I was when I played the demo. They couldn't have done a better job on the game. Maybe they will have some sort of setting where you can speed the game up in the fianl build for people who thought it played to slow.

I don't get this having to choose thing. I totally understand if money is an issue for some, but why not eventually get both (1 discounted). It's getting to the point where you can't have two similar games or two games in the same genre. Lately people debate over Prototype or iNFAMOUS, UFC or Fight Night, (insert game or insert game). Sadly the only exception is of course FPS, some people can never have too many of them.

I guess my point is, why limit yourself or have to choose between games you are interested in. Why not support both.

I really hope they have faints and fakes in there as well. I'll keep throwing that over hand right until my opponent expects it then throw a faint and roll into a left hook to the body when he least expects it. Keep changing levels on 'em.

Yea, you'd think EA would try to release the demo at least before the UFC game releases. I mean I do realize they are different sports, but they are pretty similar, so I'm sure most people will by one or the other not both. As I said earlier, my money is on the UFC game for now.

I was only going to buy one of them and it was going to be the UFC game. Now, I'll wait and try a demo of fight night before making that plunge. So, if fight impresses me as much as the UFC game did I'll end up getting both of them.

I like everything about this game except the roster of fighters. I think having classic fighters are fantastic but I would have preffered a more comprehensive list of current champions and up and comers. The crappy thing about boxing is all the sanctioning bodies that have dilluted the sport and created 6 champions for each weight class. There is no unifying structure to the sport which is the reason it's been watered down so much over the years.

There was a point where I was debating whether or not I would buy this game or UFC Undisputed. After playing the UFC demo constantly I can say I'm definently buying that one on day 1. After hearing so much positive new about Fight Night Rd 4 I'm about 80% sure I'll also be purchasing this one.

Rant:

Let me just say that Muhammad Ali is one of the most overrated boxers and people in the history of sports. He always gets credit for being some great activist and champion of civil rights but that couldn't be further from the truth. He is actually a vile human being whom I despise in every way imaginable. Joe Frazier was the REAL hero of black america and civil rights but never got his credit until recently when the documentary "Thrilla In Manilla" aired on HBO and exposed the little known truth surrounding the circumstances of their great heavyweight battles.

Muhammad Ali was (and still is) a racist and a bigot but he seems to get a free pass in the way he is remembered. I wasn't alive back then but I consider myself an astute boxing fan and pseudo historian. I have read countless book, watched documentaries and have probably seen every single Ali fight that was televised on ESPN Classic and DVD. I think people have this sort of fondness of him because of how outspoken he was and they mistake that bravado for courage. The truth is Ali was nothing more than a puppett for the Nation Of Islam which is essentially the same in beleifs as the Ku Klux Klan is. I'm not saying they have done the same acts but their rhetoric and beleifs about racial purity are identical. In fact, most people don't know that Ali actually spoke at a Ku Klux Klan rally!

I respect your opinion and I've heard this arguement before and it does have some merit. But if you look at things from a cultural point of view you would see why so many, especially in the BLACK community seen and still see him as a courageous hero. First let me assume you are African-American, therefore you can't imagine the climate at that time in history...your people are getting the sh*t kicked out of them all across America, black people felt abused, misused, were treated less than human. Throw in the Civil Rights movement going on at the same time, JFK being killed, MLK being killed, the climate is almost unimaginable today.

Ali represented a strong confident black man that didn't take crap from the white establishment. He "told it like it was" and called out America on its racism on TV!! Which at that time, when a black man was asked something by powerful white men they usually had to act docile and passive. "Yes suh" "No suh"...Not ALI...so really for the black community he was a super hero! I understand your point of him being a pawn for the NOI...heck so was Malcolm X until he smartened up....then they had him killed. So yeah, from a white perspective Ali would seem as some cocky bigot...but for a whole OTHER part of America he was their voice...and also I wanna say it was wrong how he portrayed Frazier as an "uncle Tom" I agree...but that was all marketing hype for the fight...I believe he later apologized.

I just felt I had to comment to give your accusations some perspective...one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter...

BTW...This game looks AWESOME and I will be buying it DAY ONE!!

I'm gonna have to agree with Kenny as well. Ali is considered the greatest more or less because he himself said so and he had a charismatic personality. Frazier basically beat him in the Thrilla in Manilla and only lost because his corner threw in the towel.

I saw the documentary Kenny Powers Fastball is referring to, and in the movie, Frazier's son confirms this. After Ali vs Frazier III, Ali apologized to Frazier's SON about all the names and rumors he spread about Frazier on TV. He never went to face Frazier himself and apologize to him. A little weak if you ask me...I'm just going by what was told in the movie and if that was the case then it is very weak.

To this day Frazier still hates Ali, they played his phone answering machine on the movie and he brags about how he started the downhill turn Ali's life took after Frazier vs Ali III cause of the way he beat the crap outta Ali. He even said in an interview in 2002 for the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, they asked him "What do you think of Mohammed Ali lighting the olympic toarch?" his response...

"Someone should have been behind him to push him into the flames"

I think that about sums up how some people will always look at Ali. He was a good boxer, but def not as good as ALOT of people make him out to be

A fun mode I did in FN3:

I created two fighters named "Kill" and "Death". They had max power, max recovery, but 0 chin. It was hilarious, 4 punches and a knockdown followed by an instant recovery. It some of the most fun I've had in a game with friends.

Firstly, you should not be comparing UFC to FNR4, they are totally different technologies, UFC is clearly not as smooth and refined as the FNR4 Engine. Please stop with the apples to oranges.

Sure they are fighting vs fighting, but when game play is definition of the game, we're talking technology.

"The most impressive things about Fight Night Round 4 are the collision detection and the physics."

This is good to hear because typically collision detection and physics are typically the weak points of boxing (and fight simulation) games.

Can you do the photo-upload business with a digital camera and a USB cable or do you need an Xbox Vision Camera? I'd be interested in trying that feature out with a friend who I played a lot of FNR3 with.

For Facebreaker which also had photo game face, either you use the XBox Vision camera, or you take a picture and upload it to the EA site, which then lets you download and use it in-game.
