Joystiq Podcast 096 - Golden Guys edition
After his many weeks of not playing video games, we've finally jettisoned Chris Grant and replaced him with young Griffin MaxElroy, who's taking the show to the max, as is his custom.
We've also got the expected discussion of Duke Nukem Forever, BioShock 2 multiplayer and Home Alone movies. Enjoy. Oh, and thanks to Mike Santos for the golden art.

sad photoshop. My grandma used to make me watch the Goldie Girls when I was young. A single tear falls from my eye.
altron271 @ May 8th 2009 4:53PM
P.S. I know that the show was called "The Golden Girls" but thats what I called them when I was younger.
To the joystiq Podcast Cast...thank you for being a friend
Haon @ May 8th 2009 5:33PM
Now I have that stupid song in my head.
Misfit Toy @ May 9th 2009 9:35AM
Its the most horrifying thing I've ever seen.

I SEE DEAD PEOPLE
"Rose's cousin Sven, arrives in Miami for a visit just prior to him being married by arrangement. However, when Blanche plays a trick on her latest beau, which involves Sven, the naive groom falls for her. Meanwhile, Sophia tries to renew her driver's license."
NaeemTHM @ May 8th 2009 4:54PM
I started listening to the podcast this week and I have to say you guys are pretty damn funny.
Donald @ May 8th 2009 4:58PM
Yet another 'shop I will never be able to unsee.
Also, now that you have three hosts that PLAY GAMES (yes, I know Chris's mitigating circumstances), how long is the show?
Zertoss @ May 8th 2009 4:59PM
There's a high McElroy to Kietzmann ratio in this episode. A second Kietzmann needs to be added to bring balance to the farce.
Quattro @ May 8th 2009 5:00PM
Sweet, finally a gaming podcast where all the hosts actually play games.
Deadpool @ May 8th 2009 5:02PM
I promised myself I wouldn't cry......but that's not gonna happen!
BEAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
j.howlett @ May 8th 2009 7:46PM
it's going to be alright

Damn that Justin makes a fine lookin' old woman
warioman64 @ May 8th 2009 5:09PM
Thank you for being a friend, travel down the road and back again. Your heart is true you're a pal and a confidant.
Flaunty @ May 8th 2009 5:20PM
The intro voice this week was probably the best so far with the new Jon Black intro (is a full version of the song available yet?). I miss the old high intensity voice with the old song, but I like this song quite a bit, and the old voice wouldn't really fit I suppose, so it's a fair trade.
Also, Griffin is my favorite guest host. He and Justin always bring the funny, though I can't imagine where they would go if Chris/Ludwig/anyone else weren't there to moderate them.
Great show as always.
The Dark Wayne @ May 8th 2009 10:31PM
I miss Nick Cave. There was the longest time where I thought that was Justin singing and the background singers were saying "Joystiiiiiiiiiiiiiq"
Doug @ May 9th 2009 2:35AM
I hate the new song as an opening theme. Every week, when the podcast starts, i find myself compelled to grab a razor and start cutting. The song is slow, depressing and thematically the opposite of every other audio clip in the show. It's in complete contrast to the entire "feel" of the show, in fact. I turn my radio/ipod down for 10 seconds as soon as the song starts, because otherwise it ruins the other 1 hour 43 minutes and 49 seconds.
Justin McElroy @ May 9th 2009 11:11AM
So, Doug, I'm unclear. Are you saying you like it? Like, a lot?
sorensilk @ May 8th 2009 5:28PM
Is it wrong if that photoshop turns me on? I mean, it doesn't...AT ALL. But is it wrong if it does?
Tegolin @ May 8th 2009 5:53PM
For 5 seconds I couldn't tell senior citizens and Joystiq apart.

This was an unexpectedly beautiful tribute.
holyice7 @ May 8th 2009 9:30PM
Justin McElroy looks a LOT like Bea Arthur. I can barely even see the shoop.
albedos_shadow @ May 8th 2009 10:06PM
Old Lady Justin is hot. There, I said it.
The Dark Wayne @ May 8th 2009 10:30PM
Oh sweet, glad it's Griffin because I forgot to send in my very Chris specific email.
nutman @ May 8th 2009 11:19PM
The "lion chow" joke was amazing. That had me laughing for way too long.
Griffin, your name is now Gryphon for you are as beautiful and majestic as those legendary creatures.
Asg @ May 9th 2009 1:04AM
Nice podcast, keep up the good work.
LAZoftheTamarinds @ May 9th 2009 5:26PM
Oh my. O_o
I need to wash my eyes now with soap.
PS. Awesome episode. Griffin as a replacement always works.
Juno @ May 10th 2009 1:21PM
Griffin! I missed you, love.
Nick Coffman @ May 10th 2009 10:12AM
Can I be the first one to say, "Fuck Evan"
Seriously, fuck 'em.
The Dark Wayne @ May 10th 2009 6:57PM
no, fuck andrew
Vampt Vo @ May 14th 2009 10:24PM
So I make an honest comment about the show, with no intent to insult
anybody, and I get cursed off by a fellow listener? You've gotta be kidding me.
Vampt Vo @ May 14th 2009 10:27PM
(Should have mentioned, for the record: I'm Evan)
Vegnagun bwf @ May 10th 2009 10:32PM
Griffin should be on the show every week. I hear he plays video games.
slainbaby @ May 12th 2009 2:18AM
Just finished the podcast and I must say it was the best in recent memory. Maybe the lack of Chris made it so. I loved Ludwig's joke at the start of it.
juliusdeane (Jarret) @ May 12th 2009 6:32PM
Generic disparaging comment misdirected at Justin.
Professor Lario @ May 13th 2009 12:52PM
Good podcast gents. Not as good as the golden years, but I am sure with time we shall return. And by golden years I mean trees through Justin's house and lions eating the internets - you know, true gold.
