That said, anything that generates enthusiasm for BG&E:2 is a good thing.

Its not gameplay at all. No camera is that smart/psychic, and the animation was far too dynamic. It was purely cinematic in a controlled environment. The graphical effects are just way too good as well, the polygons may be realistic for a game but the lighting/blur were too perfect for such large and detailed areas (Im guessing if there was an HD version of this that wouldnt be a single jaggie in sight either).

@Eh Well, it's probably a cutscene if anything at all. It's not impossible to make gameplay look that way, but it's very rare.

Maybe their demoing it on a PC right now and it will be a bit toned down for the consoles, a few console games have been shown running on PC hardware.

You can tell just from the overall fidelity that it can't be real-time on consoles. I doubt it's real-time on PC either, so the point is academic.

Yes, KZ2 looks great and it's very well optimised for the PS3 hardware. But the PS3 is getting old and new generations of PC GPUs are coming out more than twice a year. It's not being a fanboy to say that even mid-range PC components now far outstrip the RSX and Cell, it's just being a realist.

To the topic at hand - the framerate is too smooth, there's too much occurring on screen and the effects are too high quality for it to be real-time, especially at this stage in development.

Don't get me wrong Killzone 2 looks great, but to suggest that a PS3 is capable of more than a real gaming computer is silly.

Graphics are subjective. Saying this looks better than that or it couldn't possibly look better because of yadda yadda yadda us merely an opinion. If someone's opinion is KZ2 looks better than 90% of PC games than its equally as valid as someone's opinion of just the opposite. The point is you can't tell someone that what they think looks the best is wrong because its wholly subjective. You could cite frame rate, resolution, special effects and poly counts if you like to bolster your claim but in the end it's still up to the individual to decide what they like best.

My opinion is that the short video is a target render of what they want the final product to look like or what they think they can achieve. I don't believe it's actual gameplay. However, if it is then oh boy is this game going to be intense.

One other thing I would like to point out about the differences in consoles and PC gaming is that a game like KZ2 is optimized for one specific piece of hardware. So, it's going to look the same on everyones console that plays it. However, a high fidelity computer game (or any computer game) has to work on a wide array of machines so it isn't optimized for one specific piece of hardware. It's made to work with a wide array of internal components. In that respect the experience is going to be different for most of the people who play it. I don't even think it's fair to compare consoles to high end gaming rigs because a gaming rig can be constantly updated and adapted with the newest gear where a console is going to be the same until the next iteration is released. Thats one of the appealing things about consoles to me is that I buy one machine that is going to be supported for years without having to upgrade the internal components. I know it's possible to build an affordable gaming rig that can still play on high/max settings but from my experience it's still going to be more expensive over time than a console. But, the difference is a PC can be adapted to change over the times. It's not like we can add more RAM to our PS3 & 360's.

I think you have PC confused with the term Wii.
PC beats the shit out of an consoles graphics because it's adaptable. It's like comparing a GTX 285 to a 8800 GTS. The GTS is pretty sick, but the GTX will allow you to render everything instantly and have better quality.

Killzone 2 doesn't even look that good, but it DOES look better than 90% of PC games. Are some of you people so insanely biased, that you simply ignore the fact that the vast majority of PC games are made with very, very low specs in mind, simply because they want them to sell? The minority, the "big" games like Crysis are just that, in the minority. If you're going to claim it looks better than the "big" good looking titles, you're going to have to realize you're going to be talking about, at most, about 10 titles out at the moment that really take advantage of even Nvidia 8 Era/ HD 3xxx Era GPUs. Even less will fully take advantage of the cutting edge stuff.

Definitely. It's just a little too fluid to be believable game play. Nonetheless it definitely looks awesome. If this turns out to be game play I will preorder asap. I'll probably do that anyway, but...I'll do it harder if it is.
