Oh, Jaffe. You really shouldn't be posting images of secret internal emails on your blog, even if you have applied heavy blurring to some of the more pertinent sections. Now we know your dark secret: your next game will involve cars. That's right, some photoshop whizz managed to see through the image's blurred section -- which probably explains why Jaffe has replaced the blurring with solid chunks of red, but the damage has already been done.
The super secret information does indeed reveal that the game involves cars, as evident from the lines "dragging him behind your car" and "when he is launched out of a car." The email also states that character animation for the "human characters" needs improvement because "right now it's so dry, it needs to feel like an action movie." Cars and humans? This game is going to be awesome.
All joking aside, this could indicate that Jaffe is currently working on a Twisted Metal sequel. Or it could not. It could be another car game entirely. With human characters. The blog post mentions a big milestone at the end of the month, which may mean we'll be seeing whatever game this is at E3 in early June.
[Thanks, Brad]

Sony's E3 lineup this year will be something to remember. So many games; current, and new, high possibility of new hardware. But boy howdy, would a new TM be welcomed. I've only played the first one on PS1 (and still have it). my brothers and I would spend hours playing that. Good times

Wow... you only played the first? It was good, but it pales in comparison to TM2. And Black is fantastic as well. I'm surprised you didn't stick with the series if you enjoyed the first one so much. Hell, you could have been playing Twisted Metal co-op with your brothers in TM2 and Black.

I love Jaffe's games and I'm sure he's a extremely nice guy but he seems to be quite dumb.
Between him believing PETA's publicity stunts, him trying to peel off stickers that are under the plastic of game cases (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUXPtYTl5yM#t=2m18s), the grammar and puncuation of a 11 year old AOLtard on his blog (In his defend, it's gotten a lot better. His earlier stuff is cringe worthy) and now him attempting to bait his fanbase's curiosity but falling straight on his face.

This was pretty much revealed on GameTrailers Bonus Round about a month ago. It was filmed at GDC and Geoff Keighly (sic?) kept hinting about a new Twisted Metal and David Jaffee tried to deflect it, but you could tell by his demeanor that Geoff was right on.
Interesting that the new Twisted Metal will have humans though. That's new.

"Bad", "Brad"... Oh well. So long as I get to take credit for this pseudo-story. Taking a second look at my Photoshoppery, I'm not sure it actually made things easier to read. Anyhow, my attempt at translating the blur is as follows:
"so we are clear – cause I sent out a few emails and it confused things – THIS is the list to go off, …
CHARACTER AND CHARACTER ANIMATION ISSUES:
High concept: We need the game to have more personality and feel like an action movie. Our human characters are a big way we are going to get that vibe. I would like to see the following in the milestone and feel it would go a long way to wowing the crowds.
#1: Design animation of capturing him, running over him, and dragging him behind your car ??? ?????? and ??????????
#2: Design an ??? animation that gives him personality – right now it’s so dry – needs to feel like action movie!
*- when he is launched out of a car and onto the ground, he crawls frantically, looking at approaching cars, trying to get away, slipping as he tries to get up."

It only got mediocre review, but IMO it was underrated. I remember some of the reviews complaining about the controls, but they seemed near perfect to me. There was a nice feel of momentum like you would expect underwater, but the game still maintained a highly arcade nature. When you first start out it is easy to get disoriented since you can turn upside down and go in any direction... especially if you get hit by a weapon that spins you around... but after a little play the game's controls feel perfect and you get used to keeping track of your orientation.
Anyway, another factor I liked about Critical Depth, that other games like Twisted Metal don't have, was the ability to reflect shots. You ever get in one of those "tennis matches" with the computer where you reflect shots back and forth? After each reflection the weapon being bounced would increase in strength, so even a basic single missle can become a one hit kill if gets reflected a few times. But, of course, the reflect shield used up your energy bar much faster than the standard shield so those reflect battle quickly became a matter of whose energy ran out first. Damn that game was so much fun.

I didn't realize Twisted Metal was such a popular series. I'd always kind of lumped it in with all the other vehicular combat games from back in the PSOne era (Critical Depth being my favorite at the time).

Well the people that made TM made Critical Depth so it was like a spin off;And yeah TM it's pretty big you should check out the Story sequences for TM black, they are the most intense violent I've ever seen.

YES! Another Critical Depth fan. I loved that game. Lovved TM1 and TM2 as well, but I think I played Critical Depth more than any of the vehicular combat games out at that time or since. There was something about having TM-esque underwater dogfights that I really loved. And the power pods really added an entirely new layer to the strategy.

I didn't realize Critical Depth was considered a good game, I just had a blast playing it, especially that sunken city level with the underwater subway tubes. So much fun.

This is most likely about the next Twisted Metal game for the following reasons.
1) Jaffe's studio worked on the PS2 version of Head On which contains the secret message "Twisted Metal is coming on PSThree".
2) Jaffe and Scott Campbell (who Jaffe is talking to in the email) designed the Twisted Metal series together.
3) On foot gameplay was sadly cut from Twisted Metal Black due to development time. It's a no brainer that they would include it in the next proper installment of the series.
