50 Cent's latest game, 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, hasn't been selling well, apparently. Kotaku reports the title has only managed to sell 1/12th as many copies as the rapper's first joint, 50 Cent: Bulletproof, which has sold nearly 1.2 million copies. The sequel has sold only 56,000 copies as of early April. Despite the fact it has received more critical acclaim than Bulletproof, consumers just don't seem to care about the trials and tribulations of a rapper chasing a crystal skull through the desert. Yeah, we don't get it, either.
We just hope the sales turn around. We actually want 50 Cent to make his sequel ... as long as there are plenty more points to be had.

It may help to market the game if you want the people to know about it.

I blame it on the horrible 50 game they made for the PS2, making people probably think this would suck just as much.

Biggest facepalm ever. I guess this just shows that even 50 Cent fans don't know how to see quality product.
This is irony at its best. The first game took relatively no effort and no thought went into it and it was devoured by his fans. This time, he took a hands-on approach and handcrafted it in his own image (like God would) and apparently no one gave a shit.

This one's easy, it's all about the money. In 2005, the games were cheaper, the consoles were cheaper, and the economy was a lot better. The typical 50 cent fan(young, lower class) now probably doesn't even have a "next-gen" console, and even if they do, probably can't spare the $60 for the game. Most of the people in the target audience for this game are probably still using their PS2s. I bet if there was a PS2 version of Blood on the Sand out, it would be selling copies closer to what Bulletproof did.

I forgot to mention that 50 Cent's fading popularity probably doesn't help much, either.

I'm pretty sure there are upper class people who are way more into 50 than lower class people. Who do you think buys his crap music off iTunes? Not those people who don't have "next gen" consoles let alone computers, internet and credit cards.

Just a dumb premise. Plus 50 cent being on there makes people even less likely to buy it. I mean if a rapper is on it, then its gotta be good. I mean if people saw a game with Michael Bolton on it holding two machetes in a rain forest with his wife being constricted by a python, they would know to stay away. Blood in the sand is the same situation. Actually I'd probably buy the Michael Bolton game.

Yeah, cause a plumber hanging out in a fantasy world populated by walking talking mushrooms and flying turtles is a splendid premise.

I find this sadly hilarious. Or hilariously sad. One of the two.
It's simple what happened: 50 cent's fans all bought the first game, realized it sucked, then thought his next game would too. Surprisingly, it didn't. Just goes to show that a poor quality product can bite you in the ass even after its made you money.
Personally, i couldn't care less. I hate rap. And even though blood on the sand isn't terrible, it's not particularly good, either. And nowadays you gotta make every cent count.
HA! I made a terrible pun.

There's hope for the future of gaming yet.
Crappy games like this shouldn't sell 1 copy let alone what it did

Damn, that's really disappointing, this was a very fun game. It's too bad that certain segments of the game review corps underweight fun in their reviews.

I did my part. I bought it and beat it twice in one day (the second time took less than three hours). I kept it to play again.

Honestly, (down vote me if u may) i would have bought this if it had trophies.
Not cause im a trophy whore and would have played it JUST for trophies but because i dont like that devs dont have the time to impliment such a small thing into the game, all it takes is one small patch, this goes the same for Silent Hill Homcoming.

I think your beef lies with Sony then brother. Not the game publishers.

Why sony? its upto the game company weather trophies are added or not no? But because the game was made ready in V.late 08 its not mandatory for trophies to be added to this. so the company made the choice.

I was of the understanding that Sony made a decision not to make trophy support mandatory. They could easily have done so but chose not to.
If that is the case, then by lack of rolling out a standard for the publishers to follow, they are the reason some recent games lack sweet trophy-licious sexification.
Things may be different since I last heard anything on the matter though.

well yup, all games made after 2009 are supposed to be mandatory but besides some few games being made ready at the end of 08 but released 09
So 08 games are up to the publishes to add in the trophies, so if they decide not to support trophies i wont support thier games cause they could easily do em as they are doing the xbox achievments.

Ah, I see. That clears things up a little for me. I see your point now;
For all the effort required to put the trophies into play, it's not exactly just or fair to leave PS3 owners out in the cold.
Incidentally Orex, My PSN ID is Skipjimrroo (note the extra "R") hook me up if you ever want a little bit of LBP or Killzone action!

Sure :) ill add u today and leave a comment in the Addy description.
Also, Burnout devs;Criterion Games (im sure it was them) have said it took them just Half of thier day, to add trophies.
So its not like it seems to be a very big hastle either.
& thats why i dont support games that dont have trophies.

I'm not surprised a shitty game like this wasn't successful... 50 cent is old now in the hip hop community.... His time has come and gone and he'll join the pantheon of other hip hop hasbeen's from now on...
He should just be happy he was lucky enough to survive getting shot nine times and coming out with some shitty album that a buncha knuckle dragging idiots bought into.

Before I say this let me clear up a misconception that may be taken from what I'm about to say I'M NOT A 50 CENT FAN but i do listen 2 his music from time to time. Now is it me or am I reading alot of biased comments against 50? The dood makes a lot of decent music and in the hip hop circuit he's the master of beef, mater of fact he just knocked all of the momentum out of Rick Ross and DJ Khaled and Lil' Wayne (some one that is probably one of the most listened to rappers) has said that he wouldn't beef with 50 because it's pretty much a suicidal move career wise. On the whole gaming aspect they didn't even promote the game how it should of been and the demographic of people that bought the game aren't broke but probably just overlooked the game because of the first games obvious flaws. I mean I didn't grab it because I already had my games that I planned on buying picked out but I might grab it if I beat all of the games i have (which probably won't be likely because I have a long list of games to buy for 09) but if this occurs I'll be happy to grab it because it's a quick fun game that got decent reviews.
