You might want to sit down for this (you look tired). Judging by an update to Electronic Arts' Pratik Patel's LinkedIn page, work on Dead Space 2 is already underway. The engineering guru updated the page to include his role on the still as-yet-unannounced sequel, on which he is serving as the game's technical/development director.
Hardly shocking, we know. Like a necromorph's limbs, any real doubt of Dead Space getting a sophomore outing was severed with EA's own Frank Gibeau and Glenn Schofield admitting as much just days after the original's release. Nothing else is yet known, though with E3 just around the corner and Dead Space Extraction dismembering Wii shelves later this year, we don't expect to be retiring our trusty plasma cutter any time soon.

Dead Space is just such an amazing game. I can't wait for the sequel.

Oh sweet Jesus, please please don't continue the MONOTONY of Dead Space. Do something different, shake it up a little, take some risks, surprise the player. Dead Space was technically accomplished and a good game, but excruciatingly, mind-numbingly boring, not to mention totally unoriginal.
I repeat, don't repeat yourself.

While I disagree with the statement that the game was totally unoriginal (the limb dismemberment feature was a great step away from 'kill everything with a headshot' typical to many shooter games), I do have to somewhat agree to the monotony claim.
After a while, many of the missions just seemed to become a little monotonous and repetitive, some originality to the various missions would have helped shape the game better.
However, that said, I still enjoyed Dead Space a lot, because it was still something different and was far better than RE5. And if they can break the eventual monotony that somewhat settled in from the first game with a more diverse and varied structure in the 2nd game, then I will be a very happy camper.
After the let-down that was RE5, I am more than willing to look forward to Dead Space 2, because Dead Space was still one of my favorite games from this past year.

If it were up to me, that post on Favre they did would end up permanently enshrined in the Smithsonian some day.

im playing thru DS again at the mo.its a great game, but the problem with being on aship, submarine or anykind of metal type transportation is it feels very samey all the way thru the game.
maybe on the next game you could make it from the ship to an actual planet, then they can make up wateva they want really, which would be cool.
deadspace 2 will be a great game i reckon.keep it single player tho, multiplayer ruins these types of game.
p.s. make the trophies for rock shooting a bit easier please.

I'm playing DS through right now having just got it pre-owned. Its really reminding me of Bioshock as you pick up the audio diaries and there are no other characters that aren't really bullet fodder. Also the sound effects are amazing through the surround sound.
but like Bioshock, you shouldn't waste time on the multi-player. spend more time on the levels, the aliens & the guns, but do not spend a second implementing multi-player.
even co-op would mean you would need much bigger areas otherwise every corridor would be " after you" "no, after you" " no, I insist!"

I'm going through dead space, though it is a good game i just can't bring myself to do more than a certain section at one time.
I got my brother it for christmas and we played it on one of those gaming chairs, the sound was amazing.Still haven't completed it, i'm hoping it gets more gripping and less 'Go to point A and collect this'.

As long as this one has a story that provides a fucking closure and doesn't require you to go on forums and pick whichever interpretation suits you, I'm all up for it...

So you're saying the story was too complicated and you'd rather have it spoonfed to you?

Anyone else think this game is crying out for a Cod5 zombies type multiplayer Minigame?

I fear for this game if it isnt made by the same Dev team :( Then again, could *Possibly* be better (emphasis on possible XD)
I absolutely loved this game. Not many games can make me jump and be fun to play at the same time :)

Aside from DS's environment and gameplay repetition, you never got to interact with characters much face to face. They were always behind some bulletproof glass or talking through the radio. It shares the same issue that I had with Bioshock, that all this story was happening behind glass, that you never got close to it.

Your parents didn't read bedtime stories to you through bulletproof glass?

What? I can't hear you from my indestructible cubicle! Anyway, go to tech support and get a motherboard for the bridge's server! And then go to the ship's A-level men's room. It needs a new pipe in one of the sinks.

Why would you want to ''interact'' with characters? What is that even supposed to mean?
Do you want to shake their hands? Do you want them to give you a pat on the back?
People these days whine about absolutely nothing.
