It's May 11th. You know what that means! Right: It's the 60th anniversary of the name "Thailand" which replaced the country's previous name, "Siam" in 1949.
... Also, Eidos Montreal confirmed its second project today, just like it promised last week. Up next from the studio currently cranking on Deus Ex 3? Thief 4, of course. And no, we're not prescient. Eidos Montreal even calls the announcement "the worst kept secret in the industry."
Details on the sneak-em-up sequel are scarce, with www.thief4.com dishing out ... well, another teaser site. No platforms. No release window. Nada. What you do get: A "general discussion" forum, where you can advise Eidos Montreal on the development of Thief 4. Here, we'll get you started: "HEY EIDOS, DON'T MESS UP THIEF, OKAY?"
We'll update as we learn more.

They've already come out and said that it's only a working title and not to worry

They definitely could have found a better place for the 4. The way it's drawn in the logo, it kind of looks like a T anyway.

I'm hoping they give us more than simply re-packaged Assassin's Creed gameplay. Thief and AC are very similar in a lot of ways so I'm hoping they throw a curve in there we're not expecting that's fun.

Good: I can't wait to blackjack people again.
Bad: I'll probably end up getting killed because I shot someone with a water arrow.

The only Thief game I ever played was on the original Xbox. It was very stealthy and I love using different arrows to take down enemies. Looking forward to this. It's been such a long time.

I'm okay with it. If they can pull off something interesting like they did with their other Franchise do-overs the last few years, it'll turn out just fine.

Awesome series, and I'm really looking forward to Thi4f....hopefully with a better name.
Sadly, the port of the last Thief game onto the X360 platform is *less than desirable*. Quite a bit of wacky behavior, including seeing torches and other lights through walls. Kinda ruins the atmosphere. Still, what a great game. Just tons of fun.
On a related note, it's kinda funny (read: frustrating) watching my 11-year-old son play Thief. He's a Halo3 junkie, and only knows the "run and gun" tactics. Playing Thief is like a complete gaming reversal for him! Instead of sneaking, he ends up killing everyone, flopping bodies everywhere, and has the police always on the lookout! Needless to say, the game got to be pretty rough for him.
Then he hit the "insane asylum" level. Game over.

Thief has to be one of my all time favorite series. I know it won't happen, but I hope it goes back to just first person. The third person view in he third game took a lot out of the experience.

Also I hope they find a better enemy. The Hag was crap. Karras was scarier, and he sounded like Droopy!

I agree with Arkanaloth. They need to not do what Assassins Creed did. Going back to the first two is important.

If they ruin this game, I will club them w/ my blackjack & throw them off the roof of a building...and then go looking for more water arrows to clean up the blood of others that I killed.

I hope they add some guns and missile launchers so when you get tired of sneaking around you could just light up the place with artillery shells and grenades. Also, add that to the multi-player and also ninja melee attacks and sticky bombs and drivable vehicles and wart hogs and maybe some ghosts. That would be soo cool!!!! Eidos you need to make it!!!
