So does that mean that Nintendo sent out Reggie to kill John Connor(or Christian Bale)?

It would be very interesting to see how it compares to the GameBoy and since you lump all of the DS variants together, please do the same with the GameBoy.

According to Wiki, the Game Boy, including GameBoy color, sold 118.69 million units. The Gameboy advance sold 81.47 million, including all versions, so together it sold 200.16 million.

Wow, thanks Rob. Pretty wild that the GBA on it's own sold nearly as many as all three variants of the DS. Its mindshare easily surpasses their DS. With over 200 million GameBoy systems out and about it's wild that Nintendo put it to sleep, then again it couldn't really compete with the PSP.

Yeah, but the Gameboy was around for 15 years, the DS has only been around for 5. What will happen in the next 10 years is anybodies guess.

Hopefully they resurrect the GameBoy. I'm not much of a fan of the DS. Too much unconventionality with the two different screens, tiny stylus, and top heavy form factor. Fun but not that fun.

Anyone else surprised by how close the population of the US is to Europe (though I have no idea what countries in Europe that number presents)?

I have three kids and they got (so far) 5 DS. Reason, they destroyed two already... I wonder how many of those 26.1 million are to replace those that got destroyed by kids (and grown ups)...

Well, the USA´s numbers are not accurate too, not only for the same reasons of japan (new color, new model, etc), but lots of systems sold there goes to other countries, mainly Mexico, Brazil and other countries in latin america...

I think the same is true for Asia importing games from JP...

Why companies never show sales data from Canada, Latin America, Asia, etc?? Are they not important?? =P

A lot of kids in Japan own multiple DS systems. They've become collectibles to the japanese youth culture, not to dissimilar to women and their designer shoes/handbags.

Many kids and young people own about 4 systems on average.

If nintendo ever falls into trouble with the DS, all they have to do is just lower the price and put out some funky colours and sales would explode in Japan. who cares about games? it's all about getting the cool colours.
