Rock Band fans are already familiar with Pearl Jam. The band has twelve tracks (all from the "Ten" album) available in the game, on disc and as DLC. However, it looks as though there's much more Pearl Jam coming down the line. A collaboration between MTV Games, Rhapsody, and the band's premium 10 Club will allow fans to vote on songs for a forthcoming "Rock Band project." This new project will be Rock Band's "first-ever fan voted set list."
The release is decidedly vague, and opens the possibility for a brand new game (a la Guitar Hero: Metallica, or The Beatles: Rock Band), a retail track pack (a la Rock Band: AC/DC), or simple DLC. Considering the upcoming "project" will exclusively feature live music, we're leaning on a retail track pack -- who's up for some Rock Band: Pearl Jam?
[Thanks, Eric!]

If you do a little looking you can see that they are live versions so maybe it will be something like the ACDC addon. Hopefully they will at least include some models that look like PJ though.

Id rather it wasn't a stand alone game, but who am I kidding, Pearl Jam is my favourite band so I'd buy it on day one. Twice.

RB and GH have replaced Tony Hawk as the New Whores of Videogamedom.
Speaking of which: "New Tony Hawk game to be revealed May 15"
And the circle is complete.

It's not like Harmonix is releasing 3 or 4 new platforms every year. While Beatles: Rock Band won't be exportable (because rights-holders are dicks) everything else is just the addition of more music, including this. I don't see how that's "whoring out" when DLC is the best part about Rock Band.
Activision really is the worst though.

Just because Harmonix isn't doing it at the scale Activision is doing it with GH, doesn't mean they aren't whoring the franchise themselves.
If Lego Rockband doesn't prove that, I don't know what does.

Assumptions FTL. This can just as easily be a 12-song setlist ala The Who. The only reason we're getting such advance notice is so that people can start getting familiar with the songs before the actual "voting" begins.
Although I fully expect some script to come up along the way that basically fixes the contest by autoplaying the same set of songs oer and over again.

And once again, Brother is excluded. Especially since the DLC of Ten is put off as the re-release and it doesn't even include the 6 bonus tracks. Weak.

The lack of "Yellow Ledbetter" is a little disconcerting, but I'd vote for "Animal" in a second. I actually hope that this is more than just a DLC pack, since I don't own Rock Band. I am a die-hard Pearl Jam fan.

Even without Yellow Ledbetter, that's a pretty awesome list. I wouldn't have expected to see Down on there.

Brother is available (along with live versions of Alive and State of Love and Trust) through the Ten reissue/Best Buy promotion, so no complaining is allowed on that one.
I'd much rather they just release Vs. as a full album, but I guess I'll take what I can get.

Awesome list, though I would like to see Leash, Green Disease, Ghost, Sad and Blood, also. Out of just those, I guess my top choices would be Rearviewmirror, Brain of J, and I Got ID, some personal favorites.

I'd love to see more Pearl Jam in Rock Band, I just hope it's good Pearl Jam. I was a HUGE PJ fan for the first 3 1/2 albums, then they just got terrible. I'd buy anything off of VS or Vitalogy- and even a few tracks from No Code. But that's it. Anything beyond that I'll pass on...

Aw, come on! I never liked Ten that much. Vs was good , but Vitalogy was great! I think they've have stayed enjoyable.

I've gotta agree with Letters2Kay. Ten was the best PJ album imo then Vitalogy over Vs. but after that there new stuff just wasn't the same anymore. I wouldn't go so far to say it's terrible like letters does but it just doesn't grab me like Ten. Ten is easily one of my most favorite albums of all time.

Actually , they have 15 tracks available in Rock Band. Only catch is you had to be one of the lucky ones who was able to snag the special preorder code from the rereleased TEN album at Best Buy to be able get the three extra Pearl Jam songs.

Do The Evolution with the animated video - total badass!
Given To Fly is so epic, too!
If they are smart, this will be either a retail add-on or dlc (or both?) that you can play off of the rock band 2 disc. RB2 is supposed to be a platform, remember?!

If they work this like the AC/DC add-on, it'll be cool. At least I can import those into my Rock Band 2 library.
If it is truly a stand-alone product, with no way to import songs, I'll be highly disappointed.

I'm the opposite. I'm fine with studio recordings, but I love listening to live tracks. They tend to allow for more creative freedom.

Throw the Vs. and Vitalogy albums as DLC and that's about all you really need, other than a few tracks off No Code and Yield. Can't say I'm a big fan of new Pearl Jam stuff, other than a track here or there. I'd definitely buy the entire Vs. and Vitalogy albums though.

I'm not sure this will be a retail pack exclusively, one of the reasons it was on CD for ACDC is because they hate the machine (the internet and digital downloads), as we have seen Pearl jam is not afraid to release digital content. Im just hoping we can pick and choose which songs we want.

not willing to part with 50-60 bucks for a hand full of songs... if it were all dlc or say 30 bucks for 15 or more songs & transferable , via AC/DC , then yeah i would get it...
but, with all these exclusive band titles and all whats next Rock Band : Warrant or GH : Poison?

This does NOT sound like a DLC pack, rather a full blown game. It's a "live compilation" and you are voting on the versions of songs, not the songs themselves. My guess is full blown game.

Read that again:
"The versions that are played the most times will be deemed the best versions and will then be in consideration to make the final “set list” for the game."
The users will deterimine the best live version for each song in the list. Once each song has the best version picked out, the entire list will then be put to vote withe x-number being "winners" and ultimately being released as content.

It takes roughly a month to make a single song for Rock Band, there are over 40 songs there that will need to be created which should take several months to chart and create, but heres the thing. The live recordings have not been decided yet, and it could be another month or two before the list is finalized so not having these ready till next year sounds about right.
Hell the first Pearl Jam album was announced last December and did not release till the end of March and that was only about 11 songs.

The fact that this is a live compilation disheartens me both as a Pearl Jam and Rock Band fan. It's a little bait and switch to make you think that you can choose the songs when you're just choosing the versions. Boo on that Harmonix.
And just like everyone else has been saying, there's *key* Pearl Jam songs missing from this list. Porch? Yellow Ledbetter? Glorified G? Dissident?
I'd be more interested in a studio track game coming out: Rock Band: Pearl Jam.
Yes, everyone's gonna be disappointed somehow with whatever way they go with it but... this isn't the way to go for a Pearl Jam game.
Just my 10 cents. :P
