PSA: Fable 2 'See the Future' DLC now available
OK, so, as you'd know if you read our review, there's not a whole lot of future seeing to be done here. But, nomenclature issues aside, there are some beefy new Fable 2 missions in the "See the Future" DLC which, just a reminder, is now available on Xbox Live.
If you're unwilling to part with the 560 MS Points ($7), there's still a chance you could win a free copy. But, as we're talking about Joystiq's 2008 Game of the Year, we think you owe it to Lionhead to pony up the cash. Heck, you owe it to us.

oh heh, id completely forgotten
Peter Molyneux @ May 12th 2009 11:13AM
Forgotten? FORGOTTEN?!
How could you?!
The Dark Wayne @ May 12th 2009 11:27AM
I was busy saving the troubled citizens of Gotham thank you very much!
Markez @ May 12th 2009 11:43AM
Hey I saw Dark Wayne say that Ludwig's uncle's girlfriend said this DLC was pretty weak :( Then I went and read the review again and it was pretty mehtastic. Big bummer, I thought Knothole Island was great. Suppose I'll likely wait until I want to do some more cheevo hunting in Fable II, and couple that with this.
On a wholly game unrelated, yet DLC related note, I wonder if there will be any more DLC for Scene It coming out...
Peter Molyneux @ May 12th 2009 11:53AM
I admire the work you do Dark Wayne, but if you don't buy the DLC soon, I'll reveal you identity to your villains. How do I know it? I'm Peter Molyneux.
I can see how you might find the DLC weak, if you can't fully comprehend how brilliant it is. It can be troubling finding something that appeals to the commoners. You know, the people who aren't Peter Molyneux.
This is something that I will work on while working on my next project that will likely evolve gaming by leaps and bounds.
On an unrelated note, the picture of my brilliant face keeps appearing and disappearing. I'm curious as to the cause Joystiq. You can tell this website wasn't developed by Lionhead. It's okay though. For giving Fable 2 GOTY, I forgive you.
Peter Molyneux @ May 12th 2009 11:55AM
Oh dear, I have a typo or two it seems. See? Even I'm not perfect.
EvinTheSwift @ May 12th 2009 11:22AM
>_>; I still need to get this game.
Silly me forgetting about all of this DLC.
yenrab @ May 12th 2009 11:31AM
GOTY Joystiq? Really? Please. I'm sure the only reason it got game of the year is b/c you can have "sex" with men. How is Fallout 3 not?
The Dark Wayne @ May 12th 2009 11:52AM
because Fable 2 is better that's why.
Markez @ May 12th 2009 11:55AM
Gah, don't awaken that sleeping dog. The GOTY nonsense and surrounding hubbub had all quieted down for awhile.
"I'm sure the only reason it got game of the year is b/c you can have "sex" with men" - Charming statement there, might I ask what you were insinuating, or why sex is in quotations?
Peter Molyneux @ May 12th 2009 11:56AM
Commoner.
robotoid @ May 12th 2009 11:59AM
lol is that actually your real comment on the story?
Zertoss @ May 12th 2009 11:59AM
He says that like there's something wrong with having "sex" with men. Women do it all the time! Men too!
CannabisPrime @ May 12th 2009 12:16PM
lol @ Fallout 3 as GOTY material.
Professor Lario @ May 12th 2009 12:56PM
I would have chosen Fallout 3 as GOTY as well, but I still enjoyed Fable 2 - just not as much.
Sir Buzz Killington( The Artist formerly known as Jakka) @ May 12th 2009 2:39PM
@ CannabisPrime
I second that statement. Bethesda had all the time and money in the world and still failed to release a Q&A'd,polished and bug-free product. As much as we largely forgave them because the game was quite good and awesome, giving it a GOTY will only encourage them not to improve.
Opprobrius Maximus @ May 12th 2009 5:06PM
"Please. I'm sure the only reason it got game of the year is b/c you can have "sex" with men. How is Fallout 3 not? "
Because you can't have sex with men in Fallout 3, obviously.
sk8monroe81 (PSN--XBL) @ May 12th 2009 5:18PM
fable 2 as GOTY is wrong IMO.
sir says:
"Bethesda had all the time and money in the world"
um bethesda developed and published the game themselves, something not many developers have ever been able to accomplish.
and u dont think that lionhead and microsoft game studios had all the time and money in the world" duh...
the fallout world is much larger and open than fable so we should have expected more bugs.
for me spending more than 40 hours playing fable 2 is more of a chore...
and spending less than 40 hours playing fallout 3 is not enough...
knothole island DLC is a joke, while fallout 3 DLC continues the story and provides other pertinent information about the game.
there are many more conversation options in fallout 3, even though they only seemed to pay 5 voice actors total.
in fallout 3 i can be a better or worse character than i can be in fable 2.
try blowing up a town in fable 2.
fable 2 combat system was too easy and a joke and became a chore for me.
fallout 3 combat is much more difficult and satisfying for me.
the VATS system is cinematic and people even enjoy me playing the game, while other games are boring to watch.
non-stop radio stations that bring a nostalgic tone to the game add a layer also.
fallout 3 was just a more thought out and better game than fable 2 IMO.
the endings of both games were sub-par IMO.
Veign06 @ May 12th 2009 11:32AM
I'm gonna wait till after they announce the contest winners...gotta get some work done for a few hours anyways lol.
And how the hell do you change your profile picture on here? I've tried loading a 64x64 pic and it says upload successful but it has never changed...any specific type of picture file?
Zertoss @ May 12th 2009 11:57AM
Has to be a GIF or JPEG. PNGs don't work.
robotoid @ May 12th 2009 12:00PM
that's a question no one ever answers here, I know I wish I knew.
Rhamsey @ May 12th 2009 12:02PM
i am also waiting for the winners to be announced first.
Zertoss @ May 12th 2009 12:25PM
@robotoid
I thought I answered the question. Unless you're needing to know how to upload an avatar in the first place. In which case, click on your name, click on "Are you robotoid? If so login here", click Edit Picture, click Browse, choose a 64x64 GIF or JPEG, click Upload, enjoy!
The Dark Wayne @ May 12th 2009 11:52AM
I just finished downloading it, but does anyone know if you have to complete the main quest first?
Markez @ May 12th 2009 12:39PM
I don't know for sure, but I'm pretty positive you would be able to play without having completed the main quest. I think even dtoid had a pretty nasty review for it, but I'll still definitely be picking it up. Oh and damn you for not being a 9-5 johnny punchclock like me, I'm jealous.
AsherR @ May 12th 2009 1:19PM
Billionaires don't have to work.
Though I hear he has a night job...
Coolguy0934 @ May 12th 2009 12:47PM
I download it and completed the main quest quickly, it was good though.
But I can't seem to get The Howler achievement.
Rob Bourne @ May 12th 2009 1:13PM
Is the Knothole Island DLC required?
Not that it bothers me as I have it, but my Sister recently re-bought Fable 2 and as yet hasn't got Knothole Island.
swmarc @ May 12th 2009 1:46PM
I went to download this via xbox.com and all I could find was See the
Future(Free). Is that the whole DLC? I went ahead and got it and went
on my 360 to try and get it there but it says I already have it.
Guess I got it for free, or I will have to pay for it once it is done
DLing
swmarc @ May 12th 2009 4:49PM
yep, I got it for free.
Cesaria @ May 12th 2009 5:11PM
I see that it's only available to Gold Members and that there is the 'premium' version for $7 available directly below it. Any idea what that's about?
Rob Bourne @ May 13th 2009 9:01AM
The free version, like the free Knothole version, is to offer a taster of what the DLC is all about.
The Premium version will allow you to do all the quests and get the achievements etc.
The Dark Wayne @ May 12th 2009 2:06PM
Hmm, i just beat it and it was even more disappointing than Luddy's review suggested. They'd been advertising the whole time as having a big connection with the player character from Fable 1, but SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER you just go to oakvale in the magic snowglobe, and he isn't even mentioned at all, this whole time I was expecting to get the goddamn sword of aeons at the end of this DLC, and then all I get was Fable 3 announcement, and still no answers about what Teresa did with the Spire. She even says how she had plans for it, be we're still completely left in the dark as to what it was. SPOILER ENDS SPOILER ENDS SPOILER ENDS.
Markez @ May 12th 2009 2:12PM
Yikes. That bad, eh? Not even worthwhile as a fun little romp around Albion again?
Sad face. Sad face, indeed.
VGSFTW @ May 12th 2009 2:42PM
I knew it must be really bad for Joystiq to say it's kinda bad. I enjoyed Fable 2 but for "game of the year" it was pretty forgettable experience. I wouldn't even call it "game of the year" for Xbox 360, leave alone overall. I would've given GoW2 Xbox 360 GoTY.
Snowblind @ May 12th 2009 3:28PM
I'm not sure where you got the idea there was supposed to be a connection to the original Fable.. But what Theresea is doing with the Spire was explained as well as the basic premise for Fable 3 or a major expansion.
The Dark Wayne @ May 12th 2009 3:58PM
I got the idea from the first few details that arrived about this DLC. And all Teresa says is that she can see many different futures, but not what she's doing with all of them, or what wish she was granted by the spire
The Dark Wayne @ May 12th 2009 5:03PM
it was the one where it was announced at GDC, Petey boy said it "tie up some loose threads"
The Dark Wayne @ May 12th 2009 3:07PM
no quite the contrary markez, despite my gripes with it's promises and story, it was still fun, if not painfully short. I did enjoy walking around through a restored Oakvale, that was fun, and the costumes and new items were sweet too, but yeah, disappointing as far as a real fulling conclusion I expected. I suppose it has something to do with that I greatly preferred the setting of Fable 1, particularly the armor designs, so I was disappointed when I didnt get any of the Fable 1 connection i wanted
hobo4life @ May 12th 2009 3:38PM
YES finally out
Ryan Hamilton @ May 12th 2009 5:11PM
I beat it in about 1 hour. It's ridiculously short, no wonder its 560 points. If it was 800 I'd be so pissed right now, of course if you count the Achievements it's around 4 hours. But basically it takes an hour or less to beat.
alesetierney9 @ May 20th 2009 11:32AM
Awesome, can't wait to download it. :)
