Rock Band Country Track Pack coming July 21

We know that many of you will roll your eyes and scroll right along when we tell you that EA/MTV/Harmonix has just announced the stand-alone Rock Band Country Track Pack coming to 360, PS3, PS2 and Wii on July 21. That's fine, we understand. Even if you have a passing interest, you'll be able to check them all out when they eventually make their way to the Rock Band Music Store.

But before you go, you should know that the $30 pack of 21 songs includes one of the greatest recordings of all time, Kenny Rogers' "The Gambler." Sure, there are other songs on there, we've even put a list of the first few after the break. But if you boot up "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy" before "The Gambler," we're going to cut off Travis Tritt's mullet and feed it to you.

For all of you that don't know real country, Steve Earl and Lucinda Williams are two of the greats. The are musicians' musicians. Singer Songwriter Americana, Texas Troubadours.

As indie country singer Heather Myles sang, "Nashville's Gone Hollywood."

The most annoying thing about this is that I already have 3 of the confirmed songs from the first country pack. What a load of crap if they don't set up some sort of ala cart system with 3 5 song packs and a 6 song pack so folks like me aren't paying twice :(

From the press release: "Many of the tracks will be exclusive to the Rock Band Country Track Pack disc for a limited time before joining the Rock Band® Music Store as downloadable content."

So they will all be available individually on the store as regular DLC, however the Country Pack will be the first pack that includes as yet unreleased tracks, while the others have all collected already released DLC.
Presumably the tactic is to try and leverage more retail sales, because despite their superior online operation Rock Band is apparently getting pummeled at retail by Guitar Hero, and retail is what gets reported on the most, and it's where potential new users decide which franchise to go with.
