Duty is a hell of a thing. It's always calling you to it, and it would appear that Activision is already in production of the Treyarch follow-up to Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare 2, as is the company's pattern. And that's where David Kim's LinkedIn profile comes into play (check out his personal site here), which mentions that he's currently working as senior animator on Call of Duty 7.
With Modern Warfare 2 expected to deploy this holiday season, though, we likely won't hear anything substantial on this new Call of Duty for some time. But, considering how Activision likes to pump out the sequels to its key franchises, it's probably a safe bet to expect Call of Duty 7 sometime in 2010. We actually knew that before this listing popped up.

no...some people are saying it might be in Vietnam. I really don't know how that would be cause it'd still be close to modern warfare with a few of the same guns i think.
Treyarch should just make a zombie game based off WaW zombie mode. that'd be the great...they could make the campaign a lil l4d-ish but with perks an multiple guns an all that but the same type of running through locales like trying to get back to america or some crap lol btw..i thought WaW was a good game..all around

@Ignatius: "Don't forget Final Fantasy CDXLV"
That would require Square-Enix to have a production schedule they actually stick to, instead of bumping out their games by years at a time. In twenty years, we'll be lucky to be up to Final Fantasy XV at this point ;)

Wait...Treyarch follow up as in they're making Modern Warfare 3, or just the next ACTUAL COD? Cause I thought they were different now.

No, I'm sure that's one of the reasons for the Call of Duty drop from the IW developed games. I'm sure Treyarch will continue with the Call of Duty franchise while Infinity Ward continues with the Modern Warfare franchise. I think this a good move by Activision to better separate the developers and the franchises.

Yes it is a smart move because Treyarch was smearing IW's good name.
Only Treyarch could make a tank level that bad.

So confusing. Are they going back to the numbered titles? The last one to be numbered was CoD4:MW. So, if the next one is 7, that must make W@W 5, and MW2 6. Makes sense, but it's still confusing. Hopefully this is just a working title until they decide officially on Call of Duty: Die, Nazi Scum.

Aww you poor sheep, quit bahhing so loud and just keep following the rest of the herd.
Treyarch is a first rate developer, anyone who can pump out a new game in 6 months that is of the same quality as the other developer doing the exact same thing who takes 3 and a half years is truly a great developer. I'd like to see you work on the level Treyarch is forced too only to be mocked and overshadowed by the lazy self absorbed IW.

W@W had a two year development period, same as CoD4. so unless you are trying to compare CoD3 to CoD2, you are wrong.

The only CoD I've played is 4. I think it's better than halo 3. But MW2 I pushing it for me. Do we really need 7? So much for ingenuity.

No you didn't understand me, I very much want MW2. I'm very happy about it, in fact. But how many iterations of WWII games can there be? Or is Treyarch just going to cheese off of more of Infinity Wards hard work? I've played limited amounts of 2 and 5. 2 was good, 5 didn't appeal to me. It just seems like Treyarch is sucking the life out of the series. I just don't want to get bored with CoD. I didn't mean to contradict myself earlier. I just meant that I'll only stick with the MW series, and more WWII games is just reaching. Even if it isn't WWII, then Treyarchs going to kill MW. It is about Price, afterall.

@Orex probably thats how its going to end. for the game, in malta every maltese plays this game apart from pro evolution soccer and tekken so treyarch and activision will still get money from us

Hold on,
If IW are making Modern Warfare 2 (without the COD name),
then shouldn't this be COD 6?
I thought there was a big problem with calling COD: WAW number 5 due to all of the spin-offs and other platform specific games.

I mean, if they're gonna do it, it might as well be about one of the best supporting characters since luigi.

Yeah, this is not a surprise at all. I think we can all pretty much expect the following:
Call of Duty 7: November 9, 2010
Modern Warfare 3: November 8, 2011
Call of Duty 8: November 13, 2012
etc..
The people that hate on Treyarch should be happy about this. This is one of the reasons the "Call of Duty" name was dropped. Activision wanted to better separate the developers and the franchises. I feel confident in assuming that IW will pretty much handle the modern stuff while Treyarch will continue with WWII and hopefully other historical conflicts.
