It probably will add something like a set up for one that may come in E3

Probably the ability to create folder within folders like psp and will also write a code in the system to get it ready for 3.00(wishful thinking).

There is no need to have code to prepare for 3.00, 3.00 prepares for 3.00

Exactly. The argument may be valid for other systems in order to prevent one massive download, but PS3 updates include all previous updates as well, so that would be kinda pointless.

its major enough to warrant it to be 2.76 and not 2.71 or 2.74 so its got quite a few things going on it it....but it could just be a setup for 2.80 next month....which most likely will add something new...with any luck 3.00 will be out years end and it will add HUGE features...

Some new avatars would be nice, right about now. Like, where are the SackBoy avatars, at the very least?

OH MY GOD! I completely forgot about that! It's been 2 1/2 years since we didn't get any new avatars and it's been long overdue. I'd be pissed off if Sony just adds only a small amount of avatars in a future update, as the PS3 community expects hundreds of avatars, seeing how there's been a 2 1/2 year gap without any!

Precisely. I just got home and would like to unwind with some games, but I'm forced to upgrade IMMEDIATELY before I'm allowed to get online. There should be a 24hr "grace period" so I didn't have to wait 15min and could instead just set it up to run when I go to bed. There could be a reminder when I shut down that I could start the download and it'd shut down when it was finished (the latter of which is already there).

Honestly I never got THAT point. Woe I have to have 15 minutes to play. It is not like it is hours. Get home, turn on the PS3, press a button, get down and get something to drink, make a sandwich, tell mommy that the exam sucked, take a dump do anything and when you come back it will be done......

NEW!

Trophies don't need their game reopened to display after a hard drive upgrade or backup restore.

Before you could also just press triangle over trophies menu and do the synchronizing to get them all shown again, instead of doing it game by game.

But it is good they made it automatic.

This is completely anecdotal, but after installing the update I went back to my second playthrough of Dark Athena.

It was choppy as hell at first (immediately after update installed) and the drive was reading like crazy. I tried rebooting the PS3 and still choppy as hell and drive going like mad. Now, the drive has calmed down a lot and the reloads when I die are much faster (1-3 seconds vs 5-9 seconds before the firmware update).

Again, anecdotal, but thought I'd throw it out there.

yes, Dark Athena was a bit choppy for the first 2-3 mins. I'm pretty sure its cause of the update cause I played through the exact same section yesterday 9the 2 alpha drones and the dude in the robot suit) and there was no choppiness.

Magic Ball loads and reloads twice as fast. Maybe the update optimized some memory settings.

Yeah, there is no doubting that this is much faster than before.

Again, I played through Dark Athena and died a shit ton so I'm very used to how long loading used to be pre-firmware update.

I've actually found something the update did, and for me personally it was
very good.

You see. I've always ripped my CDs onto my PS3 since the EU launch using
AAC 320kbps, and for some reason unknown after the last firmware update all
CDs ripped in 2007 didn't work anymore. Thereamongst many CDs i got to rip
from a friends collection, which I don't have easy access to anymore, as he
lives in another part of the country now.

Anyways, long story short, these songs now work again with 2.76. It was
the first thing I checked, as I hoped Sony would fix it. :)
