The more people that get the chance to play this game, the better. It really is fantastic.

Even though it's over a decade old, it still feels fresher than many of the RPGs that are released today. It's all in the sparseness, I think. The environments, the music. Oh the characters. The relationship between Azel and your character is so fragile. It's understated, but that's not to be confused with malnourished. They do grow.

Plus, the art is stunning, especially when you consider it was developed on, relatively, limited 3D hardware. Azel on her dragoon looks awesome.

Though I'd only managed to score a copy February just gone, after completion I can honestly say it's in my top three Saturn games; and it's probably the best RPG I've ever played.

Plus, a rerelease could be a dagger in the heart of the eBay cabal.

I definitely think a re-release would benefit a lot of gamers who missed out on this awesome game. I still have the original copy and won't be selling it time soon.

Also, does anyone know about the original source code for the game being lost and all? Or is this just a rumor? If true, would this be the reason why the game has not been re-released?

My biggest regret was selling my copy. If only we could get a version on the consoles. Even an emulated version would do just fine without tuning it. Or conversely, a remade for modern consoles effort, with the original PD games on the disc as a bonus.

This I like, seeing as the original was packed full of FMV's and the game, spanning over four discs - although all four discs contained pretty much the same game data. So, a download service could mean that the game's Full Motion Videos might in some ways be sacrificed.

I'm up for a disc version any day! But being in the current state of things, this is not likely to happen though... :(

EMAIL: sene@gametap.com

Tell Them to do this now and you will subscribe to their service.

I have owned a copy since it came out, i play through it every year or so again, Best RPG ever. Helps alot if you play through the shooters first though.

Someone else commented on Sega loosing the source code, I had heard the same thing. It sounds like that's not true it these morons have it....insanity..I cant believe nothing is being done with it. Got what I would pay to have it rebuilt from the ground up with a new engine, but i will never happen

Thanks alot Joystiq guys for making this a story. None of the other big sites have anything about this, I hope you guys continue to push for this poor neglected game.

Sadly, it's true. The developers themselves confirmed it in a 1up.com interview.

GameTap has a killer Saturn emulator, though...

My friend let me borrow his Saturn and PD Saga for a month. I've never forgotten the experience. It was truly magical. A year later, he sold them to a pawn shop for $80. I nearly strangled the guy.

Except for the fact that Gametap ruined their own service by ditching the cool client that worked perfectly for most people and replaced it with a buggy web interface, and in so doing deleted all the save games and made me redownload the games I had on my drive ...

Listen, I used to be a promoter of GameTap, recommending it to all my friends. It was a great value. But the new buggy web stuff rarely even works properly, you can't navigate it with a controller (this was important to me on my htpc), and the new service is just pathetic. My account ran out.

I miss the old Gametap, but I don't miss the new Gametap.

I think I remember reading in GameInformer that Sega no longer has the original source code for this game. It would be nice to see a revamped graphic upgrade to this game because it's one of the most memorable and awesome RPGs I've played. I still own a copy of it for the Saturn (in pristine condition as well). I play it every once in a great while when I want to escape back into that fantasy world. It's very well crafted and was ahead of its time when it came out. It's just a shame that Sega wouldn't be able to redo a new version of this game without starting from scratch. The original team that worked on it apparently moved on to other companies as well. Gametap could do well for releasing this on their service. It's a shame that it didn't have a wider release back then.

Awesome game. It's the first game that ever made me teary-eyed. Great story, awesome mechanics, and manages to tie together the prior Panzer Dragoon games in a way that actually made sense.

It deserves a lot more exposure than it got. Gametap should release it as a public service.
