Wow... the DS outsold everything combined...

But I thought that nobody will buy the DSi! I read so many comments here at Joystiq (specially by the Bowser guy) saying that the DSi was a big mistake, and that no one would buy it, specially because the price is higher and stuff...

But to be honest, the DSi is way better than the DS Lite in almost every aspect: bigger and brighter screens, better buttons and shoulder buttons, a clicky d-pad, improved speakers, Wireless G and WPA, cameras, SD card slot, music, sound recorder, DSiWare, internet browser, a way better menu, the matte finish is better too... the ability to change the brightness while playing, a volume rocker...

Yes, the only disadvantage is the lack of a GBA Slot, buy again, if you guys care so much about GBA games, that means that you guys have a decent library of GBA games, and you guys have a GBA system, right? Because if backward compatibility is important to you, you need to still have the GBA system because it allows normal Gameboy games to be played, so I guess you didn't sell the GBA system, right?

I have both a purple GBA and a Famicom edition Gameboy Micro, so, the lack of a GBA slot doesnt really matter. In fact, to new owners, it should not matter too much either: stores doesnt even sell GBA games anymore.

Besides, the DS library is amazing... by now, is easily better than the GBA library... and that's what it really matter.

And here is a pic taken with my DSi: It's a me... Fernando!

I was super tempted to get the DSi, but in the end I decided it wasn't worth $100 to rebuy a system that does the same thing as my DS lite.

AND, fernando, you forgot the most important function of the GBA port; not playing GBA games, but transfering pokemanz!

@Xoonaka

it helps when you copy and paste comments from other websites. Not sure I understand the point of that, but more power to him I guess.

I bought and love my DSi. Personally i mostly upgraded due to the new finish (I hated the enamel coat on the DS Lite) but the bump in hardware means slightly prettier games in the future for the DSi. I have a Gameboy Micro Famicom so I couldn't care less about the missing GBA slot, I never used it in my Lite.

TBH the cameras and lack of a gba slot are the only things keeping me from buying a DSi.

I dont really enjoy paying for 2 POS .3 megapixel cameras that have no real use.

Nintendo is loving that casual audience it now has.

I still find the DSi to be lacking since I actually like playing GBA on my DS Lite

Casual or not, New Super Mario Bros. is in the top 10 again after being released 3 years ago. Incredible. Nintendo needs to do another one or more similar remakes (SMW & DKC come to mind) , but they won't because they want to be a bunch of dicks about it.

your gba slot argument is the same as the one used for those complaining about ps2 compatibility in the newer ps3s. if you have the ps2 games you have the ps2 or you got a ps3 when it had everything in it.

If there's anymore proof sony needs for a ps3 price cut, this would be it. Although, 360 only beating ps2 by 3k isn't a very good sign either...and they already had a price cut.

Good to see the wii slumping too, but it would be better if someone could capitalize on that decline instead of...well...declining with it.

Well, maybe the ressurection of the PS2 will provide enough revenue to offset a PS3 price cut.

Why is it "good" to see the Wii slumping, tmac? Oh right, you have that weird Nintendo hate-fetish. Anyway, if "slumping" is beating your main competitor's total combined sales by 38,000 units then I wish I could invent such a dismal product.

Xbox sold about 25% more units than the PS3, but PS3 costs about 25% more. Of course, this is means little for profits.

Hype for Wii just died down a bit, but I may consider finally getting one since they're easily in stock w/o a dumb bundle.

I'm surprised the slight PS2 price cut made this much of a difference in sales, not bad.

Actual April Sales.

PS3 outsold the Xbox 360 by 93,052 units and the PS3 outsold the PS2 also =)
We all know it pains Joystiq to publish positive numbers for Sony so thought I would give the real report and not just half of it.

Then again Nintendo keeps spanking everyone, when does the madness end.

Real headline should have said, Xbox 360 barely outsells PS2.

Sales US & Japan...

PS2: =190,754
Xbox 360: = 208,115
PS3: = 253,167
PSP: = 287,715
Wii: = 406,555
DS: = 1,202,839

#1. DS
#2. Wii
#3. PS3
#4. Xbox 360
#5. PS2

Looks like a lot of first time DS buyers picking up some classics with their DSi. Me, I'll thankfully keep my 200 Canadian dollars (Plus tax) and be happy for it - as Civilization Revolution plays just fine on my current DS lite.

The only thing this proves is that the PS2 is still a relevant console, which - while I find it surprising - isn't at all unexpected given the way things have been going.

Surprised that the DSi sold really well for basically being the DS with modest changes, but I'm not one to talk since I bought the DS Lite after it came out, already having the DSPhat.
