Rock Band Weekly: Alice Cooper is Taking Back Sunday

This week's Rock Band Weekly comes a day earlier than normal, courtesy of the Rock Band Community Zine, which has announced that next week will be an Alice-travaganza thanks to an Alice Cooper six pack. Not only that, but four of the six songs are live tracks and, if Alice Cooper isn't your thing, there's also a Taking Back Sunday three pack for the taking. Prices aren't revealed, but we don't expect them to deviate much from the norm. Come on, a live version of "School's Out" has got to be worth a punt, right?

""What's It Feel Like To Be A Ghost?"
My comic book senses is tingling. Did TBS name a song after a quote from 100 Bullets? Cause if so, that's fucking awesome.
Nap @ May 14th 2009 10:56PM
Yes this is very much true
drumwiz86 @ May 14th 2009 11:37PM
Shame they didn't pick any taking back sunday songs that are actually any good. IE anything from their first album. After whats-his-face left, that band totally went to crap.
Alex @ May 15th 2009 1:17AM
Yeah, his name is John Nolan. He's in Straylight Run, now. And I totally agree with you.
word!
Peter Moore @ May 14th 2009 10:50PM
Rock Band DLC is starting to get good again! Hallelujah!
VaultICEE @ May 14th 2009 10:56PM
When'd it stop being good? We got Social D last week, by God!!
Joshua @ May 14th 2009 10:59PM
Honestly I haven't seen any updates for like 4 months that interested me
This one does however
AWESOME
Shagittarius @ May 15th 2009 2:20PM
I agree , finally some good stuff again.
Dy-lon @ May 15th 2009 4:11PM
And the margin of difference between RB and GH narrows ever so slightly. The number of songs the two series have in common is getting ridiculous.
THE Ezio Auditore de Firenze (PSN slycooper_rocker) @ May 14th 2009 10:52PM
damn, i thought it was alice in chains for a second. after seeing would? (a great song) is gonna be in rock band unplugged, i was hoping for some more AiC songs as DLC. oh well.
VaultICEE @ May 14th 2009 10:57PM
Alice Cooper = AWESOME
Taking Back Sunday = (a little less but still) AWESOME
One of the rare weeks where everything that is offered pleases my tastes. Good job, HMX.
MarkHawk @ May 14th 2009 11:00PM
Pretty happy though I really wanted Spin from taking back Sunday. I recall the rumors of "What it feels like to be a ghost" in Rock Band almost 7 months ago. I had pretty much ruled it out. Glad to see liar and School's Out.
Prices?
eastsidexhusalah @ May 14th 2009 11:01PM
notice how HMX is slowly starting to get all the GH songs... last week Stricken, before that Take Me Out, now Schools Out.
THE Ezio Auditore de Firenze (PSN slycooper_rocker) @ May 14th 2009 11:19PM
i wish they could get hendrix, but he's exclusive to guitar hero :/
LendeX @ May 14th 2009 11:11PM
wheres that Shag guy to say "Meh"?
Anyway im going to enjoy singing "Billion Dollar Babies"
Shagittarius @ May 15th 2009 2:21PM
I won't say Meh cause the ALice Cooper stuff rocks. Finally a week worth buying something.
gib @ May 17th 2009 11:20AM
I'll step up for you Shag... "meh"
Last week was good, with Social D. The week before, Allman Bros. Franz Ferdinand and (awful band but fun song) Alien Ant Farm. Week before, Jane's Addiction. Before that, Styx. All good DLC.
This week is not looking as good. I'll probably get some of the TBS tracks, but Alice Cooper? Pass... Well, maybe School's Out... and Poison... and Billion...
FINE! ANOTHER GOOD DLC WEEK! I AKE BACK THE MEH!
Rolando @ May 14th 2009 11:13PM
finally some TBS on Rock Band
Tyler @ May 14th 2009 11:25PM
As I said in the GH post earlier: "Props to Harmonix for releasing more Warner Bro. music. I thought the Jane's album would be the last of it."
Kyera @ May 14th 2009 11:30PM
Live tracks are apparently the ones on the Classicks album. Listening to them, they sound quite awesome.
Robert27 @ May 15th 2009 12:23AM
"wii-lease"
I love you guys!
BPMOmega [gamertag] @ May 15th 2009 2:24AM
I hate DLC... But I love Alice Cooper (been listening to his music for years, and his radio show since it started here in Phoenix)... What a conflict. Good selection, too. Would also like to see "Welcome to My Nightmare," "Only Women Bleed," "Desperado," "Feed My Frankenstein," "Is Anyone Home?," "Lost in America," etc....
Michelobius @ May 15th 2009 2:55AM
You hate non-packaged add-ons which are totally your choice to purchase and (especially in the case of Rock Band) vastly increase the value of the initial game investment?
Yeah, you're right, it sucks to be able to pick and choose what songs I pay for. Let's keep buying new Guitar Hero games so we can swap discs for eternity!
BPMOmega [gamertag] @ May 15th 2009 3:27AM
Look, I don't like the idea of paying MORE for a game after just paying $50+ for it. The games ship with 58 and 84 songs on disc, respectively. If you ignore the other costs involved with making games, that'd put the price per song at about $1.03 and $0.71, respectively.
Then extra songs are usually $2 each. Granted, I still think Rock Band has a much better thing going on than Guitar Hero... I still don't like the DLC model.
lolpilipino @ May 15th 2009 11:18AM
Though I understand where you're coming from, don't you think RockBand should at least be an exception to your complaint?
I'd much rather pay $2 a song then wait a year for only another 50 songs on a separate disc that I'd have to switch between to play. And who's to say I'm going to like half the songs anyway? I like this model a lot more because it will lengthen the lifetime of a disc, and we get more songs faster. didn't they make over 500+ songs already? That got done a lot faster than simply just releasing a new disc every so often.
Letters2Kay @ May 15th 2009 2:48AM
Dammit, Harmonix- NO MORE LIVE TRACKS IN ROCK BAND! I barely like to listen to live stuff from my very favorite musicians, why would I want to play along with shitty recordings full of weird vocal riffing and occasional missed notes? I bought the deluxe edition of Pearl Jam's Ten from Best Buy, only to find out that the extra RB tracks were live songs. You literally have to memorize all the impromptu vocal quirks just to get the (sometimes off-key) singing right and they just sound pretty awful, in general. Ugh...
Recorded versions only, puh-lease...
Archon (PSN: Archonik, XBL: DarkARHN) @ May 15th 2009 4:23AM
It's live, because there's no original master recording available. Better live then nothing I say.
Boff @ May 15th 2009 5:08AM
Sad but true unfortunately.
Live is better than nothing at all.
Archon (PSN: Archonik, XBL: DarkARHN) @ May 15th 2009 4:22AM
Another Rock Band: Guitar Hero's Smash Hits edition :)
Amazing!! :)
McWeen @ May 15th 2009 7:31AM
Alice Cooper!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dan Bolas @ May 15th 2009 8:10AM
I am a huge Taking Back Sunday fan, so excluding the Journey download, this is an awesome update. I would have liked to see Cute Without The E or Your So Last Summer too. I do understand though they need to get a cross section out to appease all fans of music.
My next saught after update would be Alkaline Trio, but again looking back to their older stuff, Private Eye, Stupid Kid, Continental. The only thing off the latest album would be Calling All Skeletons. After all these are the kinds of songs you can actually rock out to with your mates, and one of the reasons why I think Rock Band's track selection is better that Guitar Hero
Dy-lon @ May 15th 2009 4:13PM
But props on Alice Cooper. Excellent choice.
Rudy @ May 16th 2009 1:44AM
THANK GOD.
i havent been tempted to downloaded a track for weeks. cant wait to play some tbs.
Morning Toast @ May 19th 2009 4:11PM
Why are they always live? The studio stuff usually sounds better and is what everyone has memorized and love. Quit F'ing with things. They are great song picks but after the Thin Lizzy DLC I probably get anymore live tracks.
