With Splinter Cell Conviction apparently due by Christmas, Ubisoft has booted up the hype machine for the game with a new teaser site located here. There's not much to see: a weird image; a Third Eschelon logo; the word "vomacoifinnocnt." It's all very mysterious.
OK, now that we've given you the news, can we just say that it's wayyyy too late in the game for a teaser site? We've been hearing about the frigging thing for 17 years, Ubisoft, you're really not gonna drop a new screen? Are there limits to the secrecy? It's going to be on store shelves rather than at the end of a globe-spanning treasure hunt, right?

Ok. This really needs to stop. My teaser sensors are really starting to overload.

Old school style shadow-sneaking, political gadget porn with Euphoria physics on the bodies :D
I severely hope they've canned the hobo parsing through crowds, exploding hot dog stands and piling up random objects to stop people coming through doors.

I wish it was regular splinter cell, but you at least had all the interactivity with the environment this one is supposed to have

Yes, yes, YES! This is one of the few franchises that actually changed the formula around much too early in its lifecycle. Most others *cough* Sonic *cough* tend to reuse the same formula over and over again, and with Splinter Cell, that never happened. I'm due for a little classic stealth action that doesn't involve 45 minute cutscenes and sexually ambiguous characters.
That was a reference to MGS4 for those who missed it.

If they come even remotely close to a Chaos Theory-style Splinter Cell again with modern graphics I will be a happy camper. LOVED that game. It's one of those rare cases where I would be completely satisfied with "more of the same"...

Chaos Theory's graphics still hold up remarkably well to be honest, at least on PC where you can play at a high resolution.

Chaos Theory was one of the first Shader Model 3.0 games, I believe.

It would be nice if the VS. mode is more like it was in Chaos Theory.

Like, WTF. Joystiq won't accept my submission of GameFork as a legit source of E3 leaks, but:
TWITTER USER @GAMEFORK HAS PREDICTED THIS WILL BE AT E3 ALREADY! CHECK HIS PROFILE! He also says Alan Wake, that Realtime Worlds acronym (also reported on Joystiq recently) and MGS4 for 360. Details are spilled all over the floor in his updates.

You guys wishing for Chaos Theory Reborn realize that the old version still runs, right? In fact there's quite a few of us who still play frequently on XBL. I would love a new version too, but in the meantime, I'm still enjoying the current one.
