No kidding. Uncharted 2 Beta + Infamous = a happy birthday for me towards the end of the month.
I was checking out the metacritic score for Infamous and right now it's at a 90 as well as getting game of the month from game Informer. It actually surprised me considering they also reviewed punch out in the same issue.

I'm calling it now ... 2009 GOTY will be Uncharted 2.

But seriously, great attention to detail (things shake and come off as you hang on them), flawless animation, finally REAL stealth gameplay (in Uncharted 1 it was almost impossible not to get noticed), hot as hell graphics and animations, platforming, wisecracking protagonist, the riot shield, the run towards the screen sequence, this game is all I've ever wanted. And on top of that you've got a multiplayer component that looks like it'll be a blast.
GoTY, for sure.

So awesome. Though I had only one complaint for the first Uncharted; the relentless waves of pirates was starting to get a bit grating, borderline chore. But I think part of that was because the gun fights started to feel repetitive.
I'm seeing a few more new play mechanics in the mix in this clip. Hopefully this well help keep things feel fresh!

Well after the 15th unarmored guy swan ducks under your carefully aimed headshot and survives 5 bullets from your Baretta, it does get repetitive. This is looking a whole lot better.

The level of animation on this game is just...outstanding....
How things behave/move and interact, well, its just bloody brilliant
The game is not being released anytime soon yet it already has a hell lot of polish that other games which they had...

I spoke on the first gameplay clips and the quarrels I had with it. 20 secs within and I'm up in airs once again in rage. First off, I do not know Drake, never played 1 but I hear a lot of good things about it, however it never appealed to me. Now, 20 secs within this game is running down FLIGHTS of stairs while at the same time NOT looking where he is going and shooting down the truck. Fine, shoot the truck but you can't tell me he makes all those steps and leaps w/o ONE glance... ugh. I know this is arcadey type game, but it comes off trying to be realistic imo, and reminds me of MGS4... either way, I'll probably get it when the price is reduced or I fall into some money.

Not really. My problem lays where the go goes in term of realism or just arcade feeling type gameplay. I'm cool with the stunts happening as they do, but as I said before. NEVER having played Drake before, I am trying to grasp the concepts. The combat in the end was impressive, the table flipping animation etc..

yeah totally unrealistic, I mean how can you shoot at a truck AND look where your going. Plus, how many people can TAKE ABOUT 5000 BULLET WOUNDS, WAIT THEM OFF, KILL ABOUT 1000 PEOPLE, AND CLIMB OVER A MILE USING THEIR ARMS? ALL IN A DAYS WORK!!!?!?!?!??! Or, its a game. Uncharted isn't trying to be realistic, so quit bitchin about a MINOR gameplay mechanic. If that got you heated, than I can't imagine what types of games you play.

It looked like a buy (or rent to own on gamefly) for me. I'm glad you can stealth your way through a little bit of it.
That is what I hated about the first Uncharted. You got spotted no matter what and then you had to deal with endless amounts of pirates.
