Thank you Joystiq, for reminding me of that ridiculous beatdown Jon Stewart put on Cramer. I don't know how Cramer can look in the mirror and still call himself a man after taking that.

Stewart did good. What Joystiq and apparently it's readers don't get is that Cramer did good too. If you really think that Cramer shouldn't be listened to, you probably didn't understand the interview on any intellectual level above that required to watch professional wrestling.

There are thousands of blowhards who helped tank the economy, and the several hundred in Congress are 1000 times more culpable than Cramer was on his worst day. But who owned up to their part? Just Cramer, and now he's explaining how hedge fund antics work like only an insider can to everyone who watches his show. The people who really screwed us over are still in Congress--in even greater numbers than before the crisis began--and they're getting ready to extend their earlier mistakes with massive economic restructuring using the same principles they used to tank the housing market on a scale 100 times larger.

If Stewart wants to really make a name, now he needs to ask some similarly tough questions to Dodd, Franks, Pelosi and Reid. Preferably before it's too late.

#1. That Time cover has been shopped
#2. Problem with April 09 NPD, GTA4 came out last year on April 08 NPD, Mario Kart Wii came out last April too.

So really things aren't as bad on April as Time thinks they are. Last year we just had the two biggest games of that year come out (literally, GTA4 and MKW were the best selling games).

Exactly. This year's big release schedule has just been somewhat different. February was light last year, heavy this year. March had some good stuff this year, but not near what last year had. This April was a joke compared to last April, though this May looks better by comparison (though nothing will stand up to Wii Fit)

Haha I love how Bill is holding up a semi-dead 360. . . Kinda ironic because its completely true, Half of xbox 360 systems have failed. In fact I sent mine in the other day and got a dead one back.

It's completely true that 50% fail?

What's the error code it's throwing off, or is that some special thing for the cover?

Yeah, there's no way to get an Xbox 360 to display that light pattern, at least without modification. The Xbox 360 error codes involve either one, two, three, or four red lights, but none of them involve a green light.

The Time cover is Photoshopped, and very poorly at that: http://www.time.com/time/covers/0,16641,20050523,00.html

OMG, that's just full of win. They sent you back a DOA Xbox?! Seriously?! This 360 failure rate thing is so bad, so ridiculous, it's puts a smile on my face every time I hear about it. Really, WTH is Microsoft doing, this the first time in history that a console ( any electronic device) has died prematurely to such an extent. It's been a couple of years now and they still can't get it right, or is it that they don't wanna get it right ( don't be a cheapskate MS, fix the consoles properly).

The PS3 is just as powerful as the 360 (if not more so), yet it doesn't overheat, so why can't MS stop the RROD. Either their R&D department is incompetent or they don't wanna spend money on it. Now seeing all this negativity about MS, some of you might think "OH, He's a PS3/Wii Fanboy." Wrong, I like all consoles and they all have exclusives I wanna play ( Halo 3/GoW anyone?!), but I also want my console to damn well work.

I've held off on buying a 360 cause of the constant failures, cause really, when I start playing Halo 3, I don't wanna stop half way just cause my console died from overheating. Finally, I plan to buy a 360 Elite in October, and I'm praying it's a Jasper unit. Cause recently I found out MS is STILL shipping Falcon and Zephyr models, repackaging them in the new double game Xbox 360 Elite bundles.

And here I thought that the state of the internet was a good economic indicator. Its bandwidth rivers are drying up, you know, due to our declining global economy and overly hot Sun servers. Soon every computer will run out of bandwidth and freeze up, never to work again. Better stock up on internets now.

Personally I would argue that video game sales are more like to correlate negatively with the economy. People want to consume entertainment, the only difference is that in a poor economic climate they want to do it on the cheap. You can buy a PS2 for only a $100 and get fantastic games for 5-25 dollars. If it comes down to Movies vs Video Game or Sport Event vs. Video Game, from a price stand point video games will win every time.

There is simply no link. Games and movies sell throughout economic upturns and downturns, albeit at slightly different speeds.

And it's hilarious that you link to an untrustworthy 'news' source to discuss an untrustworthy 'financial' source. Maybe you should link to Clifford May utterly destroying Stewart in the 'torture' debate.

Really you want a link to the Torture debate, because what you saw as destroying I saw a man ignore every, question Stewart had. He even tried to give prepared answers to Stewart and when he saw Stewart was not asking the questions he thought he had practiced he got flustered, that is why he kept repeating the same things over and over again.

To everyone saying the cover is shopped:
Good luck finding a magazine cover that isnt these days.

Also, look at the date on the magazine - about a month after the 360 was officially revealed to the public and months before its release. The light pattern and more greyish tint to the console could be because the system pictured is a prototype. after all, the "revolution" that was shown on the same day was shown in like, 6 different colors. ive only seen white so far

The end of 2008 was one of the biggest quarters evar for the industry, even as the economy sunk into a downward spiral

The recent declines in console sales might be somewhat aggravated by the limp economy, but the weaknesses between the platforms are probably the bigger reason.

Just in case it wasn't clear, I linked to Jim Cramer's apology on The Daily Show. Regardless of what you think about Jon Stewart, Cramer publicly apologizes for getting gobs of financial advice totally wrong. No matter your political affiliation or financial beliefs, dude straight up admitted he was wrong repeatedly and gets caught doing so. Thus, "not a trustworthy source of financial advice."

Kisses!

You are the only person who has bothered to look for more infomation and not tried to call me names. Except for you the rest need to get their news from more than a comedy show.
As for Cramer, I always thought he was over the top. My point really is about people thinking theu are getting news by watching a show on Comedy Central. John is there to make people laugh. He does a good job of it. He does it a news format but he streaches the truth or ignores facts just to make a point or a punch line. Mr. Leibowitz is funny. His 2 MTV shows were funny too but he is no more a journalist than Ann Colter.

Honestly, that Jon Stewart interview was one of the most set-up and overly dramatic interviews I've seen in a while. Why would you bring on a goofy cable tv host as the representative of his entire network's reporting skills? He might as well have brought on Jay Leno and ripped him a new one over NBC's shoddy journalism.

I'm also convinced the majority of people who bash Jim Cramer do not own stocks, do not understand what his show is even about, and have no concept of how to invest. Jim Cramer does not expect viewers to blindly buy anything he recommends. His show is an overview of the daily market, where he does his best to forecast where the market is going and does it in a humorous way. It is not an exact science and no analyst is right 100% of the time (if you are right even 60% of the time you are doing a decent job). As a Monday morning quarterback, it's easy to find blatantly wrong quotes from any market analyst.

Remember when the Daily Show used to be funny? After having lost most of it's talent (Carell, Colbert, Walls, Corddry, etc), the show began to suffer when entire episodes often rely solely on Stewart for humor. Sometime over the last few years Jon Stewart forgot that his job is to mock the news media, not become a part of it.
