Tony Hawk Ride goes to Wii, PS3, 360 ... with a skateboard peripheral
As expected, the new Tony Hawk game was revealed on GameTrailers TV with Geoff Keighley. Tony Hawk Ride will take advantage of a brand new skateboard peripheral (pictured above) and, according to the program, will be available on all current generation home consoles: Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360.
Skateboarder Tony Hawk said he has wanted to create a peripheral-based game for quite some time, but technology only recently allowed Ride to be possible. When grilled about his skill at the video game, Hawk said that he was quite good and added that skateboarders should find the transition easy. Multiple difficulty modes will allow players with even the most inadequate of balancing capabilities to play.
The official website teases another appearance at this year's E3. We promise you that you won't have to wait long to find out more about Tony Hawk Ride. (Probably because we already saw it, and we're still under embargo.)
Update: You can see GameTrailers footage after the cut.

Yeah. I think I'll pass. Me being a 5'6" 250lb guy, I'd probably break that in 5 minutes.

HighFiveJesus @ May 15th 2009 1:12AM

im 5'9 and 140 lbs. think someone is having too many big macs
samfish @ May 15th 2009 9:04AM
Don't let 'em get to ya. I was a member of the Big Guy's Club as recently as January, but I've lost 40lbs since then and I'm closing in on 45.
The best thing you can do if you want to lose that weight is cut out high fructose corn syrup. Or at least 90% of it from your diet. Then just eat light, but filling foods, like potatoes, rice, bananas, etc.
And use WiiFit to track your progress if you can. It's awesome in that way.
Jordan @ May 15th 2009 11:09AM
Wow, you guys are @ssholes.
Adrian @ May 15th 2009 11:22AM

Johnny 5'9 and 140lbs? Don't let your boyfriend blow his load on your chest. He might break your ribs.
Dy-lon @ May 15th 2009 2:34PM
Thanks Mikey, you threw out a scrap and the d-bags came out of the woodwork. Unfortunately we can't all be blessed with exceptional metabolism. Back to the subject at hand though. Gratz to Tony Hawk, it only took him a decade to re-create a home version of Top Skater (look it up). Well done...
HighFiveJesus @ May 15th 2009 2:55PM
metabolism aside i lost about 55 pounds over a course of a year just by eating differently so i aint chubby no more!
Mikey @ May 15th 2009 4:11PM
Thanks arness and Markez for the lulz.
Surprisingly, I don't get offended by fat comments/jokes.
Markez @ May 15th 2009 8:24PM
You're a good sport fella. Kinda figured you didn't care, but indeed had the 'oh man these guys are being assholes' moment.
And then I smelled blood in the water for some lulz, I could not resist :P
Markez @ May 15th 2009 12:54AM
Sooooooooooo you get on this thing, annnnnnnnnd bend over the whole time to actually use those buttons on the peripheral? Well, consumers will really be taking it in the rear on this one.
ArchGamer @ May 15th 2009 12:57AM
...ew.
arrness @ May 15th 2009 1:00AM
BRILLIANT
hahaha
CH3BURASHKA @ May 15th 2009 1:19AM
I think you control the menus on the side, then you throw it down on your hardwood floors (like cool skaters do) and then you yourself jump on it, further demolishing your living room. But don't you fret, because each skateboard comes with a $100 rebate for Lumber Liquidators!
Slayer @ May 15th 2009 1:23AM
I laughed.
Caveman @ May 15th 2009 12:58AM
Don't knock it until you try it.

Mr. Hawk, please use your real name instead of a pseudonym.

Dood, you're the first person to recognize my avatar. I mean others know it's a Caveman. But you know exactly what it's from.
I loved that show. I wish it were still on the air.
SourceJR @ May 15th 2009 2:02AM
yeah i loved that show . i have the few episodes that did air and i show them to my friends and they say the show was awesome and wish they gave it a chance when it came out. all the people who said it would suck and the people who listened without giving it a chance caused it to die.
giantenemycrab @ May 15th 2009 12:58AM
TOO MANY PERIPHERALS! my living room is already full of fake drums and fake guitars, I don't see fake skateboards making their way into my home.
Nincodedo @ May 15th 2009 1:05AM
No! More stuff is always better! I'm still waiting for Alpine Legend so I can get my fake Alphorn.
eNrique @ May 15th 2009 1:07AM
I'm sure you said the same about fake guitars, and then the same again, about fake drums.
I guess something like,
"I got enough controllers in my dorm, I don't see fake guitars making their way into my home"
then
"I have enough with the fake guitars, I don't see fake drums making their way into my home"
...
Well my point is, If the game is really good and it is really fun playing with the fake skateboard;
I gotta make some more room.
Warp Whistle @ May 15th 2009 1:35AM
I feel like people are going to look back at this generation of gaming and laugh at us for buying into the peripheral gimmick HARD. I mean Guitar Hero wasn't that bad, but once you had an entire god damn band set in your living room it got to be a bit much, now a skateboard?
This is the "revolution" the Wii has introduced us to. Idiotic accessories that constantly pile up and we'll laugh later, just as we laugh now at the Power Glove.
Markez @ May 15th 2009 1:52AM
This is the "revolution" the Wii has introduced us to? Wat? The Wii introduced us to Tony Hawk's new skateboard peripheral, and instrument peripherals? That's the Wii's revolution? Eh?
The distinction that's easy to make here is that the power glove was difficult to actually enjoy while you were using it. Dance pads, instrument peripherals, whatever, actually work quite well and can be a lot of fun to use.
Chris @ May 15th 2009 8:51AM
'This is the "revolution" the Wii has introduced us to. Idiotic accessories that constantly pile up and we'll laugh later, just as we laugh now at the Power Glove.'
The Wii can time travel!? Great Scott!
the Sawyer family @ May 15th 2009 1:57PM
@ giantenemycrab, then you're not gonna like when GT5 releases it's full size plastic car peripheral.
tmmoore_nc @ May 15th 2009 1:03AM
hmm....
Why???
Roofie @ May 15th 2009 1:06AM
Does this game come with a copy of Skate? I'm trying to think of a reason to buy this thing.
WiredKnight @ May 15th 2009 3:09AM
Yes. The next iteration of a legendary (albeit waning) series is going to come with a copy of their only worthy competition.
DWells55 @ May 15th 2009 9:31AM
Sarcasm
WiredKnight's head
ryan @ May 15th 2009 1:06AM
Can we get a shark peripheral and maybe we can jump it and, uh, oh just never mind...
Wildside @ May 15th 2009 1:06AM
why didnt Tony Hawk just go with the Wii Balance Board n WiiMotionPlus along with a nunchuck?
Wildside @ May 15th 2009 1:07AM
i mean for the Wii version
NoughtSoClever @ May 15th 2009 9:40AM
Their peripheral will probably be cheaper. It will definitely be more available.
resting.bird @ May 16th 2009 12:22AM
Plus all the money made from the board go straight to Hawk.
Phil1017 @ May 15th 2009 1:08AM
hmm. it looks good, baby!
Massmass @ May 15th 2009 1:08AM
BOO!!!!
Einhanderkiller @ May 15th 2009 1:08AM
I predict a lot of broken skateboards.
KFelon @ May 15th 2009 8:28AM
I predict there will be a lot of broken tvs if you're actually supposed to do tricks on that thing.
Deadpool @ May 15th 2009 1:09AM
HOLY CRAP!! IS THAT A HOVERBOARD?! O_O
I've always wanted one of those things!
