Tony Hawk Ride goes to Wii, PS3, 360 ... with a skateboard peripheral

As expected, the new Tony Hawk game was revealed on GameTrailers TV with Geoff Keighley. Tony Hawk Ride will take advantage of a brand new skateboard peripheral (pictured above) and, according to the program, will be available on all current generation home consoles: Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Skateboarder Tony Hawk said he has wanted to create a peripheral-based game for quite some time, but technology only recently allowed Ride to be possible. When grilled about his skill at the video game, Hawk said that he was quite good and added that skateboarders should find the transition easy. Multiple difficulty modes will allow players with even the most inadequate of balancing capabilities to play.

The official website teases another appearance at this year's E3. We promise you that you won't have to wait long to find out more about Tony Hawk Ride. (Probably because we already saw it, and we're still under embargo.)

I would be really cool if you push buttons to do grabs. Can't see much other use for them. I've never played Skate It with my balance board, do you actually place your feet like you would on a skateboard to do flip tricks? I've been meaning to rent it to see how it works.

I am actually looking forward to this. I can't do skateboarding (a little snow- and wakeboarding though), but always wanted to pick it up. This might be a fun way to practise a little but or just have a good time. I dunno playing sports games with a analog stick controller pad, never made sense to me (expect maybe where you controll the whole team - like FIFA.) Will see. Waiting for reviews. Hopefully also the local game store will setup a tryout system.

Yes!! More over priced plastic peripherals. That's exactly what we need.

I don't like skateboard games but I saw it on GametrailersTV and was really impressed. It looks pretty slick. Though I wonder how responsive it will be. I can't wait to hear real feedback on the thing from E3.

is there an option to get on one knee and push yourself around?

In other news, I will continue to play Skate 2. It's awesome, and I don't look ridiculous playing it

Slowly we are moving into a generation with out buttons! Its great because buttons suck.
