"Sure, the rooftop portion of No Mercy is intense," you often explained to your Left 4 Dead-playing cohorts, "but you know what it needs? More Tanks. Eight or nine more, at least." Your friends attempt to dissuade your mad-eyed vision, but ultimately find it futile -- after all, it's not like you have the ability to summon these hulking meatwalls from the ether, right? ... right?
Tremble in fear, zombocalypse Survivors -- Valve just released the Left 4 Dead Authoring Tools it used to create the core campaigns to the general public. Using these grim mechanisms, players are able to "create your own campaign maps, character skins, 3D models, sound effects, and music and load them into the game." Best of all, Valve will be updating the matchmaking system to include player-made levels in the coming weeks. If your interest in L4D is waning, brace yourself -- the game's getting a huge booster shot.
[Thanks, Dan!]

LOL, "reprogram textures." Only way that would make sense is if a game used the TIFF format for textures and you were editing the texture to contain executable code, thereby achieving the well known TIFF exploit.
Oh, and nofriendo, we're not nerds, we're people with a decent education and an interest in either the IT or CS fields. And, between the interest and the education, chances are we'll be earning a significantly larger income than you ever will.

bind "z_spawn tank"
Oh, hey, I have the ability to summon these hulking meatwalls from the ether.
Oh, hey, when I'm playing single player, I like to open the safe room door from the start of a new chapter, spawn a tank in the room, and close the door, running off for myself. And maybe a few witches for good measure.

I am in the process of learning to use the tools. I have never done this in my life. I am not sure how hard it is. The tutorial is pretty detailed though.
If it's easy, i might make some maps myself. I have a couple of ideas up my sleeve.

That's not a good place to put those. I've lost plenty of ideas that way.

The way this post was written you'd think the writer doesn't know anything about PC games.
Or would I be correct in this assumption?
The ignorance of a lot of the commenters too is pretty abundant.

Now THAT is straight up, old-school, fan-lovin', money-earnin' service. Pardon me while I try to convince someone to get this off steam already so we can rock some co-op.

"There was no reason to vote you down, 360 fanboys just don't want any of their exclusives to come to the PS3, whereas they want all the PS3's exclusives to come to the 360. : /"
I know, boo-hoo eh?
Were you actually here during the last gen? If you didn't have a PS2 you were screwed basically. Sony fans are in NO position to moan about exclusives.

Damn it.
I bought the game on 360 because I have a Mac.
looks like I'll be investing in crossover games and the PC version of L4D very soon.

Does this mean we can finally get working gun skins/mods?

This game is the sole reason why I'm jealous of 360 owners...
I'd love to play this game, but I can't justify devoting the money and time for just Left 4 Dead. I suppose a dose of Zombie Nazis will suffice.
