besides the cheesy but great gun fights this season was great.. and now, the wait.

my theory? I don't even have one damn clue. Maybe it has something to do with Jacob and his Nemesis, some kinda rivalry they had for hundreds of years, and everyone is just a pawn in their game.

Its actually 8 months and correction Mr. Joystiq writer.

Mr. Abrams only worked on the first season of Lost, he has been AWOL on the show since then.

Jacob and his brother/enemy Esau are fighting for the fate of mankind. Jacob brings people to the island trying to prove to Esau that humans are good, but they keep proving Esau right: humans are destructive. Season Six will be about Jacob's team (Sawyer, Kate, Jack, Jin, Sun, Sayid, Hurley) fighting evil Locke, who is possessed by the spirit of Esau.

There you have it.

Actually, he did co-write the season 3 premiere, but you're right insofar as he has had almost no creative input since early season one.

The overall story arc has been planned from the get go. He may not have written any episodes since the season 3 premiere, but he was involved with the overall story.

Darlton (the exec producers) said that it wasn't planned from the get go. It was just supposed to be mysterious. Once the network ordered more episodes and carlton was brought on board is when they planned the arc out.

I'm glad someone already mentioned this. Seriously JJ is great, I love his work, Fringe Alias, LOST (the start of the show) and his movies.

It's just that LOST is such a good show and the true masterminds behind it Damon and Carlton deserve more credit than they seem to get.

Regardless, they are all jerks. Making me wait until the Fall for FRINGE and the winter to find out the fate of our survivors.

The Envelope was a deleted scene from A Tale of Two Cities. While I think JJ is a great writer, all the work has really been Damon and Carlton. They really do need to get more credit for their work on Lost. It's always JJ this, JJ that. He actually co-created it with Damon, but he never gets credited for it.

Anyway, thank you Joystiq for another Lost-related post. The finale was amazing and I can't wait for the final season (although I am sad that it's almost over).

Look. Season 5 had two main themes which were "dead is dead" and "what happened happened". Since we all saw that they weren't dicking around when they said that "dead is dead", no one should be surprised when we find out that "what happened happened". Farraday's death should have convinced everybody that you can't change the past/future. Farraday was supposed to/already did die and Jack was supposed to/already did pick up the torch and try to change the future but the future can't be changed so whatever they did at the Swan merely ensured that the future happened like it was supposed to and indeed already did. I think the blast threw them forward in time to the present, but there's no way that they changed anything.

j. howlett,
But Faraday was wrong and that's why he died. Eloise knew that she was sending Faraday back to the island to die because she knew that she killed him when she was pregnant with him. When he went to the Other's base all in a huff and she shot him, that had already happened. Faraday was supposed to do that and he did. Jack and co. caused the incident. They didn't change/prevent anything.

@Courtney

I don't know if it was better than the rest of the field, but I appreciate the writing compliment. I mean, it couldn't get much worse right? :-)

@Ghen

I can understand you not liking the comic, but to compare our comic to Family Circle? Seriously? Check this out and tell me my comic was honestly worse than it:

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh453/dailycomicsreview/2009/worst%20comic%20of%20the%20year/March/Family_Circus.gif

I get it, it's the Internet where exaggeration is the norm. Could you tell me what you disliked about it, so that I can work on correcting that problem in future comics? Thanks!

I like your comic a lot, usually. I forgot your guys work in a video game store.
And, the only thing I didn't like about this comic is that it made me change my Monday Comic, because the jokes were super similar. :)

I liked it.

Only thing I would suggest is...uh...More color? But I understand time constrants, etc.

Still loving the Mirror's Edge one you did a while back.

Sorry about the overlap in comic ideas, but I imagine that's going to happen from time to time with a bunch of gaming webcomics out there.

Trust me, I'd love to go back to color comics, but it simply can't happen until we start making enough money to have our artist working full time. We just aren't there yet. Gotta start selling those shirts yo!

Defending oneself on such a site is generally fruitless, but here goes. Being against Lost is going against the grain on this thread anyways so it hardly matters. I completely understand everything with Lost to date. I am just tired of the relentless introductions of rabbit holes. What is so frustrating is that the first season was set up to be a stand alone series, but when the popularity and potential lucrative nature of the show became clear, the next several seasons were made; the show only grew worse with time. I still watch every episode hoping for answers, but it is proving to be likely that there will be none till the last episode, in which we will be blasted with some rot such as Hurley wakes up and it was all just a dream because he was crazy.

Sidescroller made no sense (what's new?), and i missed one of the references in Dipswitch (the first one)

The first panel? Or the Kirby panel?

The first panel was the inspiration for the comic. I was playing Melee for the Gamecube, and slapping Link and Mario around with Ganondorf, and as I begin my final onslaught, the crowd in the game begins chanting 'GAAAANONDOOORF'...and then I thought about what it must have been like for Ganondorf Dragmire in High School....playing basketball because he's taller than Link and damn near everyone else in Hyrule....and the people still chant his name that way because they're dicks.

And Ganon shooting free throws wearing a bandanna in a Hyschool Basketball game was funny as all hell to me as the crowd chants his name like that.

Then, it became the real reason the enemies in Nintendo games are evil pricks. My favorite panel is poor Bowser in the last panel. If you look closely, it says 'I ♥ Peach' on his Trapper Keeper.

The second panel is the scene from Karate Kid, where Johnny and the Cobra Kais beat up Daniel LaRusso after the Halloween Dance. The lines are from the movie.

My take on Lost:

Jacob's nemesis, aka Smokey, found a loophole. He pretended to be Jacob by using his cabin and by *using* the body of Jack's father.

On episodes 14, 15 and 16 (Season Finale) of the 4th Season, Smokey (again disguised as Jack's father) told Locke that in order to save the island, he had not only to move it but that he also had to die

Locke believed him, Locke died, Locke's body was brought back to the island and so Smokey was finally able to disguise himself as Locke.

I don't know why disguising himself as Locke was that important, maybe it had to do with the fact that he was the leader of the Other, whoever they are.

Still, I don't know why Smokey had to go through all that trouble just to kill Jacob. Why didn't he just kill him? Why did he need someone else to do the killing for himself?

Joystiq's personal belief is that they're all robots. My personal belief? They're all aliens (at least some are) xD

I think Lost is moreso just coat-tailing off the following they've largely developed based solely off the first few seasons. 1 & 2 were absolutely awesome, 3 was ok. Franky, I think the last two have just been contrived garbage. I'll still eagerly gobble up new episodes, but the story line sucks now and they throw in too much goofy shit into each episode. They all of a sudden introduce Jacob, and show how he has met/interacted with everyone at some point? WTF? That's not 'ooh ahh' interesting, it's just stupid. I can't be the only one who feels this way.

Dueling Analogs gets my vote! Usually I'd be a complete sap and vote for anything with Pikmin, but somehow Digital Unrest screwed it up :P
