i think that im rly pissed off at how much they threw at me in one episode. We finally see jacob, and then he dies! Wtf! And then theres two lockes!! I admit the episode was amazing, but i felt overwhelmed after the.
HighFiveJesus @ May 16th 2009 7:21PM
locke never came back to life.
jacob's nemesis will probably drop the locke disguise but that was definately him, he also could have even been alex/smokey too.
Ponch @ May 16th 2009 7:09PM
The next 9 months are going to suck horribly.......
PR0F3TA @ May 16th 2009 7:35PM
besides the cheesy but great gun fights this season was great.. and now, the wait.
my theory? I don't even have one damn clue. Maybe it has something to do with Jacob and his Nemesis, some kinda rivalry they had for hundreds of years, and everyone is just a pawn in their game.
Sheppy (of the Fidlious Clan of Wong) @ May 16th 2009 8:09PM
I think it was Mrs. Peacock in the Dining Room with the Candlestick.
Bobby S. @ May 16th 2009 8:52PM
Its actually 8 months and correction Mr. Joystiq writer.
Mr. Abrams only worked on the first season of Lost, he has been AWOL on the show since then.
Obie @ May 16th 2009 10:59PM
Nah, it'll be here before you know it. :)
vidGuy @ May 17th 2009 11:13AM
Jacob and his brother/enemy Esau are fighting for the fate of mankind. Jacob brings people to the island trying to prove to Esau that humans are good, but they keep proving Esau right: humans are destructive. Season Six will be about Jacob's team (Sawyer, Kate, Jack, Jin, Sun, Sayid, Hurley) fighting evil Locke, who is possessed by the spirit of Esau.
There you have it.
peEtr @ May 16th 2009 7:10PM
just an fyi...abrams hasn't had anything to do with writing since the first season.
Cephas @ May 16th 2009 7:48PM
Actually, he did co-write the season 3 premiere, but you're right insofar as he has had almost no creative input since early season one.
Wayne @ May 16th 2009 8:11PM
The overall story arc has been planned from the get go. He may not have written any episodes since the season 3 premiere, but he was involved with the overall story.
peEtr @ May 16th 2009 8:23PM
Darlton (the exec producers) said that it wasn't planned from the get go. It was just supposed to be mysterious. Once the network ordered more episodes and carlton was brought on board is when they planned the arc out.
justshovejayohbe @ May 16th 2009 9:05PM
I think Jules Verne wrote it 100 years ago only it was called the Mysterious Island
:-p
THE Ezio Auditore de Firenze (PSN slycooper_rocker) @ May 16th 2009 7:10PM
wow... all of them have one vote each. i voted for BitF because that last panel was just killer. overall, a decent week.
THE Ezio Auditore de Firenze (PSN slycooper_rocker) @ May 16th 2009 7:35PM
and i didn't understand sidescroller...
j.howlett @ May 16th 2009 8:14PM
look at the board in the last panel and pray for the answer to come to you.
ButtersParker @ May 16th 2009 7:11PM
not since season one has jj contributed to the development of lost
so direct your hate towards daemon and carlton
its all their fault
Christian @ May 16th 2009 7:38PM
I'm glad someone already mentioned this. Seriously JJ is great, I love his work, Fringe Alias, LOST (the start of the show) and his movies.
It's just that LOST is such a good show and the true masterminds behind it Damon and Carlton deserve more credit than they seem to get.
Regardless, they are all jerks. Making me wait until the Fall for FRINGE and the winter to find out the fate of our survivors.
Hashbrown Hunter @ May 17th 2009 10:03AM
Actually Abrams is usually involved with the finales for each season due to the large amount of directing work and special effects.
Gibbeynater @ May 16th 2009 7:17PM
J.J. also worked "A Tale of Two Cities" and "The Envelope"
Baker1000 @ May 16th 2009 8:05PM
The Envelope was a deleted scene from A Tale of Two Cities. While I think JJ is a great writer, all the work has really been Damon and Carlton. They really do need to get more credit for their work on Lost. It's always JJ this, JJ that. He actually co-created it with Damon, but he never gets credited for it.
Anyway, thank you Joystiq for another Lost-related post. The finale was amazing and I can't wait for the final season (although I am sad that it's almost over).
Gibbeynater @ May 16th 2009 7:19PM
Also it's going to take more than a nuke to reset the timeline. I forsee at least one more trip to the frozen donkey wheel to set everything right.
Vcize @ May 16th 2009 8:44PM
One thing I never got about the whole nuke thing.
How exactly is one giant pocket of energy supposed to destroy another giant pocket of energy?
j.howlett @ May 16th 2009 8:49PM
the energy was capped and had to be vented every 108 min till the blew the station up. if they blow it up in the past, there won't be an accident that brings down their plane.
WREturns @ May 17th 2009 2:10AM
Look. Season 5 had two main themes which were "dead is dead" and "what happened happened". Since we all saw that they weren't dicking around when they said that "dead is dead", no one should be surprised when we find out that "what happened happened". Farraday's death should have convinced everybody that you can't change the past/future. Farraday was supposed to/already did die and Jack was supposed to/already did pick up the torch and try to change the future but the future can't be changed so whatever they did at the Swan merely ensured that the future happened like it was supposed to and indeed already did. I think the blast threw them forward in time to the present, but there's no way that they changed anything.
j.howlett @ May 17th 2009 7:37AM
i was just saying that was how it was supposed to work. i do think that faraday was right about them being variables and them having chance to change things.
WREturns @ May 17th 2009 11:31AM
j. howlett,
But Faraday was wrong and that's why he died. Eloise knew that she was sending Faraday back to the island to die because she knew that she killed him when she was pregnant with him. When he went to the Other's base all in a huff and she shot him, that had already happened. Faraday was supposed to do that and he did. Jack and co. caused the incident. They didn't change/prevent anything.
j.howlett @ May 17th 2009 12:21PM
i'm saying there is the possibility, though very small
WREturns @ May 17th 2009 1:08PM
Well, I'm not completely closed to the idea, but what are your theories? If they do change that 815 never crashed then Jacob is still alive and kicking and that storyline is effectively erased. I just think that that would be a weird move.
j.howlett @ May 18th 2009 11:18AM
remember when faraday talked to desmond outside the hatch when they were time jumping but desmond didn't remember till years after and he was off the island. i think they'll end up changing something and we'll see a donnie darko like scene where things changed but they remember stuff
MNC Dover @ May 16th 2009 7:20PM
My pick for this week is Dueling Analogs. A foul Tetris murder is afoot.
Looks like I forgot to include my MNC comic for the week. Oh well. Maybe next week. In case anyone is interested:

THE Ezio Auditore de Firenze (PSN slycooper_rocker) @ May 16th 2009 7:37PM
i laughed. well played, MNC.
ChuckBartowski @ May 16th 2009 9:59PM
XD Nice.
Courtney @ May 17th 2009 1:12AM
Better than the rest of the field this week, and I think your overall writing is improving. Nice work.
Ghen @ May 17th 2009 6:46AM
I disagree, that was horrible. About as funny as Family Circus
MNC Dover @ May 17th 2009 2:41PM
@Ezio
Thanks!
@Chuck
:-)
@Courtney
I don't know if it was better than the rest of the field, but I appreciate the writing compliment. I mean, it couldn't get much worse right? :-)
@Ghen
I can understand you not liking the comic, but to compare our comic to Family Circle? Seriously? Check this out and tell me my comic was honestly worse than it:
http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh453/dailycomicsreview/2009/worst%20comic%20of%20the%20year/March/Family_Circus.gif
I get it, it's the Internet where exaggeration is the norm. Could you tell me what you disliked about it, so that I can work on correcting that problem in future comics? Thanks!
alienmastermind @ May 18th 2009 2:35PM
I like your comic a lot, usually. I forgot your guys work in a video game store.
And, the only thing I didn't like about this comic is that it made me change my Monday Comic, because the jokes were super similar. :)
I liked it.
Only thing I would suggest is...uh...More color? But I understand time constrants, etc.
Still loving the Mirror's Edge one you did a while back.
Alien
MNC Dover @ May 18th 2009 4:32PM
@alien
Sorry about the overlap in comic ideas, but I imagine that's going to happen from time to time with a bunch of gaming webcomics out there.
Trust me, I'd love to go back to color comics, but it simply can't happen until we start making enough money to have our artist working full time. We just aren't there yet. Gotta start selling those shirts yo!
The Dark Wayne @ May 16th 2009 7:26PM
that wolverine one sucked
InFaMoUs1- @ May 16th 2009 7:54PM
yeah it really did
LaughingTarget @ May 16th 2009 8:24PM
Well, I kinda chuckled at the whole actor in a film thing when the soldier who lost his hand just poked it out from under his jacket, but otherwise, lame pun.
Frank @ May 16th 2009 8:14PM
Lost does nothing but frustrate me anymore.
WREturns @ May 17th 2009 2:13AM
That's the thing with LOST, you gotta be smart.
Frank @ May 17th 2009 2:55PM
Defending oneself on such a site is generally fruitless, but here goes. Being against Lost is going against the grain on this thread anyways so it hardly matters. I completely understand everything with Lost to date. I am just tired of the relentless introductions of rabbit holes. What is so frustrating is that the first season was set up to be a stand alone series, but when the popularity and potential lucrative nature of the show became clear, the next several seasons were made; the show only grew worse with time. I still watch every episode hoping for answers, but it is proving to be likely that there will be none till the last episode, in which we will be blasted with some rot such as Hurley wakes up and it was all just a dream because he was crazy.
WREturns @ May 17th 2009 6:35PM
Sorry Frank, I don't know what you're talking about. They answer questions almost every week.
Mr Khan @ May 16th 2009 8:47PM
Brawl in the Family wins again. I found last week's disappointing, though i seem to be in the minority there. This one was excellent
Sidescroller made no sense (what's new?), and i missed one of the references in Dipswitch (the first one)
Markez @ May 16th 2009 9:21PM
On top of that, Sidescroller called Assassin's Creed an embarrassment? It certainly gets its share of criticisms, especially jaded blog commenters, but it was a rather well received game that looked fantastic.
j.howlett @ May 16th 2009 11:22PM
that was the enemy saying they should be embarrassed of their performance. i've only watched the game being played a little and get that he's talking about how the assassin hides as a 5th monk.
alienmastermind @ May 17th 2009 2:08AM
The first panel? Or the Kirby panel?
The first panel was the inspiration for the comic. I was playing Melee for the Gamecube, and slapping Link and Mario around with Ganondorf, and as I begin my final onslaught, the crowd in the game begins chanting 'GAAAANONDOOORF'...and then I thought about what it must have been like for Ganondorf Dragmire in High School....playing basketball because he's taller than Link and damn near everyone else in Hyrule....and the people still chant his name that way because they're dicks.
And Ganon shooting free throws wearing a bandanna in a Hyschool Basketball game was funny as all hell to me as the crowd chants his name like that.
Then, it became the real reason the enemies in Nintendo games are evil pricks. My favorite panel is poor Bowser in the last panel. If you look closely, it says 'I ♥ Peach' on his Trapper Keeper.
The second panel is the scene from Karate Kid, where Johnny and the Cobra Kais beat up Daniel LaRusso after the Halloween Dance. The lines are from the movie.
Moptimus Slime (PhilosoRaptor is the new Keyboard Cat) @ May 16th 2009 9:08PM
Why even bother? Everyone knows we're going to pick BitF or HiImDaisy every week
