Kojima website updates with countdown and mysterious '5'

The mysterious Kojima website, which was first revealed via emails sent to members of the gaming press, has been updated today, just like the Japanese magazine advert suggested it might. Unfortunately, there's no big announcement -- just another link in what is fast becoming the longest teaser-chain we've seen in a long time.

The whole image feels a little more sinister now that the clouds have begun thundering as they move overhead. There's also the addition of a countdown timer, which would appear to end on May 21 -- or 22 depending on where you live. Finally, you'll notice that the number five can be seen during some flashes of lightning. Obviously, our first thought was that Kojima's next game will be Metal Gear Solid 5, but that almost seems too obvious ...

Though it'd be nice if it was a METAL GEAR title, here's my guesses:

- SNATCHER. Great game, definitely find and play it. And Neo Kobe-style pizza isn't bad. ;D The background could be the aftermath of that "Lucifer-Alpha" outbreak or possibly the area outside of the initial warehouse stage.
- ZONE OF THE ENDERS. It didn't instantly hook me like some other Konami games, but it's respectfully decent.
- BOKTAI. Solar Boy takes a darker tone? Eh, I don't think enough people know about the game to bother with this kind of hype.
- NEW TITLE. I actually wouldn't mind seeing an entirely new series, perhaps something unrelated to Kojima's other projects.

In MGS4 near the ending, Raiden is all badass, and he can like shoot lightning at the frogs. Raiden does mean thunder god or something, right? That is probably why the background has lightning and shit. Maybe it is MGS5, or perhaps MGR1 (Metal Gear Raiden 1).

Actually, according to the newest update on the portal: the letters aren't 5 (Letter fail, I know, hear me out) any more. it goes in order from E35. Very similar to E3 '05. So I did some research and found out that kojima announced MGS3. The setting at the Kojima portal looks a lot like Zanzibar (From what I have heard.) Could it be, GRAY FOX?!?!?!?!?!?! I reckon' we'll jussa have to wait and see.

I have no idea why this got voted down. They never said Metal Gear Solid was ending, just Solid Snake's story.

There's still that huge gap between part 3 and part 1 to do a prequel. Also, this series has limitless boundaries; they can find a cure for Snake's illness or make him a cyborg.

If they cured Solid Snake I would just stop playing the series all together. It's the only game I play for the story and if they're going to be that stupid with it, there's no reason for me to play it any more.

Luckily, Kojima has said that he absolutely needs Snake to die, so he's dead. :P

Seriously, spoiler, so if you haven't played MGS4, stop reading!

I don't think MGS5 will star Raiden because it would completely change the gameplay; Raiden is a swords guy and doesn't use guns at all. I think that MGS5 is going to flash forward 15, 20 years and feature Raiden's son. Sonny will take Octagon's spot. The friend that Sonny makes at the end of MGS4 could also pop us as a weapons dealer or something. What do you guys think of that theory?

Solid Snake wasn't in MGS3. That was Naked Snake (see avatar), better known as Big Boss later on. I know, they're physically identical and I'm being picky, lol.

They already remade MGS1, and I doubt they'll bother re-doing 2.

I'm hoping it's something about Project S, but it's probably MGS5.

I said the Metal Gear MSX games.

The ones that were unplayable outside of Japan or on the Subsistenace disk.

Since many people don't even know the stories of those games it would be like a whole new game.

As well as show more of the Snake and Big Boss bonding which MGS4 showed

I'd rather see a new Metal Gear game with an all new cast. Snake's character has been watered down enough. I'd like to see a fresh new story line, with snake as a Colonel campbell/master miller type role, without uneccessary drama attached to him. Make him into that badass like he was in MGS2, not the senile old man Kojima made him out to be in MGS4.
