Though we're running this one under the "likely an error and probably not a hot scoop" category, a listing for Battlefield Heroes on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 has appeared on the EA press site. Pointed out by GOONLINE (their caps, not ours), the listing posits a June 2009 release date -- interesting considering the PC version of the game has been marred by delays. The site also pegs the PC version with a September release, a significantly more solid release date than EA has provided as of late.
At this point, however, we'd like to note that the game's developer, DICE, has stated before its lack of interest in console ports of the game, telling Videogamer.com a year ago, "We could port the engine and do it, I just don't know what we would gain from it. Everyone's who's [sic] got a 360 or PS3 also will have a PC that can run this game." We've reached out for comment from EA and will update you when we hear more.
Update: As expected, EA's Ben Cousins has shot the rumor down.

I'm not buying both this and BattleField 1943 in June EA. [face_plain]

What are the chance of Battlefield Heroes being released for free on XBL and PSN?

Agreed, Sony's bandwidth charges make free games almost impossible, and Microsoft won't pass up a chance to make some money.

They'd get the money back from optional microtransactions through PSN and XBLA - those services are already perfect for it (think the premium costumes for LBP).
That's why this game exists in the first place; DICE aren't just feeling generous and spreading the love with a not-for-profit free game.

Replace "DICE" with "EA" and you will then be correct. This game is in the interest of the publisher, not the developer.
Regardless, this is still just an error. Heroes will not come out on cosoles BEFORE it comes out on the PC, which has been in closed beta for a while now. They're definitely still going to be tweaking the game throughout Summer.

These are also the slated release months for 1943 on those respective platforms. I'm betting this is a typo.

Well, I wouldn't either Little Pete. Since Battlefield Heroes is FREE on the PC. I guess (if this will make any sense at all) that this will be the case for the PS3 as well. Could be interesting to see if this is even possible with the XBL platform (making it free).
Ah well, never a bad thing!

I agree that it wouldn't release for free on consoles. Microsoft wouldn't even allow valve to allow the Team Fortress 2 updates onto the Xbox 360 for free.
I have the beta of this game, but I was wondering if there is any way to hook up a 360 controller and play it that way. If somebody knows how can they please reply.

Isn't it just a tad bit to obvious that they mean to have 'Battlefield 1943: Pacific' instead of 'Battlefield Heroes'?

This very well could just be battlefield 1943 renamed by EA.

Um, firstly, "who's" is short for "who has" and is therefore correct.
Secondly - MS / Sony would definately let them release it on XBLA / PSN for free, provided they don't release it on PSN / XBLA.

Except when "who's" follows "everyone's" [sic]. So your argument would better be suited to where the "sic" should go.

Same here - I'd definetly pay $15 or $20 for it on PS3

Untrue. I tried to run this game with my sister's laptop which has an integrated graphics chip, and it didn't run well at all. Frames were like less than a five constantly.

They should have put the "[sic]" after the "everyone's", not after the "who's".
Anyway, who's [sic] gives [sic] a SHITE [sic].

I don't think he realizes how many idiots don't have computers. Yes, idiots. If you have a computer but not one that can run this that's absolutely fine by me (hey, gaming on PCs isn't everyone's cup of tea so getting a decent rig may not be important).
If you can't afford a computer at all right now, that's fine too. However, if you spend thousands of dollars in a year in gaming and don't have at least a crappy old-ass computer (PC, Mac, whatever) at all, you are a jackass.

This is true, I have a...meh PC with a Geforce 7600 GT. Its not the best, but capable of running games like Mass Effect rather well on medium/max

Agreed. That's what I say to those that spend thousands of dollars annually to keep their PC in tip top condition and then complain when the sequel to their favorite series isn't listed for PC. If they'd drop less than the price they spend for a videocard on a console instead, they would get to play the game. Of course they'd still complain about the resolution and having to learn how to use a dual thumbstick controller.

I won't believe [until any offical MS notes whatsoever] that this game would be released on XBL as a free title. Even so, I think I'll rather keep playing it on my laptop [even with an integrated graphics it works just fine] because it's an ideal title for playing when not at home, in places where you simply can't take your console. There are better multiplayer games in this category for xbox 360, for.e.g team fortress 2.

I reckon the ideas behind this if it were to happen would be to combine the content with Battlefield 1943 and include Battlefield Heroes within the 1200msp price, so in theory you are getting Battlefield Heroes for free but only if you buy Battlefield 1943 as well, which would be a good thing

Please EA, release it on consoles. I would much rather sit on my couch with a controller and enjoy the game, than sitting on a desk and play it with a keyboard and a mouse. This game would have been successful on consoles in my opinion (let it cost 10-20 bucks and/or add some advertisements in the game and you should gain profits).

Rumor falls flat.
This is obviously meant to be Battlefield 1943, which is coming out in June for consoles and September for PC.
Heroes is already in public (private, but keys are everywhere) beta for PC, so that doesn't make sense.
