Bethesda announcing a 'really big Wii game this year'

Brennan then allayed our justified fear that Bethesda would go for the easy money: "We're not going to establish a new range and call it 'My Girly Game Range' or whatever these other companies are doing, it's so me-too and boring." He also claims that Bethesda "[doesn't] like the casual games area as such." Which means that this upcoming Bethesda product will probably be a traditionally Bethesda-like game, right?

Fallout for Wii!!!!!!
(like unlikely, but I like to spread rumors)
Ghede @ May 18th 2009 9:39AM
Only if they decide to make "Resident Fallout: Brotherhood Chronicles."

I always thought that meant he would attack me if I turned my back to him.
cuteSAVAGE @ May 18th 2009 9:37AM
Just port Morrowind GOTY, throw in some extras, rework the system with Oblivion's enhancements, give it WM+ support, and you've got a "really big Wii game" that I'd totally buy.
cuteSAVAGE @ May 18th 2009 9:41AM
Forget the port, remake it! Gamebryo 2 is Wii compatible.
Sidebuster @ May 18th 2009 9:43AM
if they could rework the controls... that might actually work. I would think about getting it myself (Bought it first on Xbox, traded it in then bought it later for pc. So not sure if I would buy it a third time).
F1: Basu Gasu Bakuhatsu @ May 18th 2009 9:50AM
I don't know about porting F3 to the wii. Building stuff would be a pain in the ass.
Manly Mcbeefington (Mr. ESC) @ May 18th 2009 11:40AM
I like the idea of Morrowind 1.5 (2.0 is Oblivion) but they could always go for the Fallout 1& 2 look and release a traditional over the head RPG for the Wii.
Gehodra @ May 18th 2009 1:53PM
I thought Oblivion was 0.5.
But yeah, A prettier Morrowind with Oblivion combat, I'd buy it.
mian @ May 18th 2009 3:04PM
I'm not totally excited about all of Oblivion's "enhancements"--but some of the most popular Morrowind mods (Real Signs, for instance) would definitely help. I'm big proponent of bringing Morrowind to Wii. I'd want quite a bit of fresh content though.
GOTY + 2 new Bloodmoon and Mournhold sized expansions, and I'd pay $50 for it.
After MH3 comes out, the bar is going to be raised, so they'll need to do it up right.
JXCgunrunna @ May 18th 2009 9:38AM
At least they wont have to worry about messing up the DLC on this one.

We are now, ZAPOW!
Foetoid @ May 18th 2009 10:04AM
I dont get it. Why wouldn't they have to worry about messing up DLC?
Foetoid @ May 18th 2009 10:06AM
I wasn't being sarcastic either. My Wii has more storage space than my brothers 20gb 360 Pro and even before the storage woes were fixed, i was playing DLC for FFCC: My Life As A King and GH:WT. I don't get it.
JXCgunrunna @ May 18th 2009 10:18AM
because the support for Wii games after launch is horrible. GH and Rock band do it cuz its easy money and if they didnt, ppl wouldnt buy the wii version unless they had no choice.
FFCC:my life as a king is wiiware.
Bethesda has had issues with all their fallout 3 DLC whether it be on the PC or the 360 or both.
Insight (Fatass Defense Force) @ May 18th 2009 1:02PM
"My Wii has more storage space than my brothers 20gb 360 Pro"
So, what's it like being in the extreme minority?
DLC for 'big games' usually requires big space, and that's something most Wii owners do NOT have, despite their ability to. Therefore, you're likely not going to see any.
Oh, and, uh, for songs and shit, storing DLC on SD works fine cuz ya just gotta stream the data back to the Wii and leave it in memory to play it, but for Bethesda sized DLC, that's not gonna be an option.
so there's your answer
skyzbig @ May 18th 2009 9:39AM
"a really big Wii game"
Isn't that an oxymoron?
Foetoid @ May 18th 2009 10:06AM
No?
guek @ May 18th 2009 9:41AM
cue tmac's pessimistic troll response now!
my interest will likely depend on what they mean by "big game"
for the love of God, please not another rail shooter >_< i like those games, but the genre is getting oversaturated
aristokrat @ May 18th 2009 2:35PM
Sweet, another person jumps on the tmac hate train. It's nice to see so many people make the natural evolution from lurker to troll. Well played, sir. Maybe one day you can aspire to having the next generation call you out before you enter a thread. Only then will you truly have arrived.
manyquestions @ May 18th 2009 4:42PM
Maybe it was a little preemptive, but it's not like he's wrong. It's become so hopelessly predictable. Good news about Nintendo = tmac rant on why the Wii is objectively inferior to every other console. It's almost like he can't bear to let Nintendo fans have any relief.
TwEE @ May 18th 2009 4:43PM
Well to be fair aristokrat, Tmac is extremely annoying..
aristokrat @ May 18th 2009 5:45PM
I agree that tmac can be annoying, but when you've got 14 posts to your name I think it's ridiculous to call out regulars, whatever their opinions. Tmac's just the latest fad to rail against round these parts, and lurkers are trying to jump on the 3-heart express by hating on an easy target. It's not like this guy has ever been in a personal argument with tmac, so why bother? Is he afraid that his post will go unread unless he broaches it with a popular snide remark? I can understand when the Fernando's or Khan's get upset with tmac since they deal with him on a regular basis (especially when he replies to their comments and crowds up their inboxes), but this guy?
Trying to be part of the in-crowd FTL.
Maulok @ May 18th 2009 9:41AM
I couldn't be more excited. I'm hungry for a really good Wii game.
JXCgunrunna @ May 18th 2009 9:46AM
You sir only have to wait until june 24th.(unless if ur not in the U.S.)
Lets hope so at least
Maulok @ May 18th 2009 9:55AM
I imagine you are talking about either the Conduit or Resident Evil Archives, and not Little League Baseball 2009? :-)
JXCgunrunna @ May 18th 2009 10:21AM
Dont be hating on little league baseball 09.
lol yea i was referring to the conduit.
Manly Mcbeefington (Mr. ESC) @ May 18th 2009 11:26AM
Wait is Punch out already out? I thought that was next week or are you saying the Conduit is going to be better?
Mr Khan @ May 18th 2009 11:38AM
Or wait until tomorrow. (Today if you have a cool game store)
JXCgunrunna @ May 18th 2009 11:52AM
i dont know which will be better given that i havent played either. they both look like high quality games but i had forgotten about punchout in all my conduit hype. that and MW2 have been occupying my thoughts on future purchases
Maulok @ May 18th 2009 12:13PM
I'm not expecting Punch-Out to be bad at all, just more in line with arcadey fun.
I'm looking for a good long game with lots of depth to get lost in for several hours. I haven't sunk hours and hours of time into a game since Twilight Princess and No More Heroes. Maybe I'll finally finish Okami, I'm only about 10 hours in.
I'm hoping Bethesda give us something with some real substance on the Wii. I know she can handle it!
harusame @ May 18th 2009 9:45AM
Probably an action game set in the world of Fallout. Brotherhood of Steel 2?
Rhamsey @ May 18th 2009 9:49AM
I'm very interested in what bethesda can do on the wii, big project wise.
Sidebuster @ May 18th 2009 9:52AM
I really need to start using my wii again. The only thing I used it for was the virtual console. As a matter of fact, the virtual console was pretty much worth the purchase in and of itself.
Rob @ May 18th 2009 10:03AM
To be honest, I play some of the games made for the Wii, but I really like the virtual console. It allows me to catch up on the games I missed or could not play.
Foetoid @ May 18th 2009 10:08AM
The Wii is definatly worth the purchase just for the VC i agree. I've got about 14 real Wii games and i think a good 30 downloaded games (5 of which are WiiWare).
dantebk @ May 18th 2009 9:58AM
Elder Scrolls V: Guided First-Person Experience?
Foetoid @ May 18th 2009 10:09AM
I lol'd, +1
JonEthan @ May 18th 2009 10:01AM
Fallout Thwii?
I actually like the earlier-posted idea of a Morrowind remake. Well, maybe not a wiimake because people tend to hate those these days, but a new Elder Scrolls for wii would be nice. Add motionplus for swordplay and you could count me in.
Duke @ May 18th 2009 10:05AM
I would much rather than made the next Elder Scrolls for the consoles that can give some more power. Sorry, Wii is not a bad machine, but it just isn't where you go for a pretty game.
JonEthan @ May 18th 2009 10:23AM
The Elder Scrolls games on consoles aren't particularly pretty. Draw distance in Oblivion is downright puny, XBox's Morrowind was stuck at a slideshow framerate. Don't get me wrong, I love Oblivion (1250/1250, actually) but I would never qualify it as a 'pretty' game, nor would I buy any of Bethesda's games solely for their looks (Fallout 3 comes close, I will admit). What compels me to nab games Bethesda makes has always been the game design and their take on the RPG system, which is wholly portable to Wii. I'm not saying this is universal; many games benefit from the cinematic visual presentation you suggest, but as far as an Elder Scrolls game is concerned I would enjoy the game regardless of how it looks.
MLS @ May 18th 2009 10:02AM
My Girly Game Range is still on the market, people! Easy money!
Levi @ May 18th 2009 10:03AM
Fallout: The Wasteland Chronicles. Light gun shooter. But no guys, listen, this is gonna be a deeper light gun game...
Jerk Face @ May 18th 2009 10:05AM
"Which means that this upcoming Bethesda product will probably be a traditionally Bethesda-like game, right?"
So you mean with fugly and creepily-inhuman character models with dead eyes that sometimes warp into horrific flesh spiders falling for eternity in mid-air if you kill them on the wrong spot?
I keed, I keed...
...
But not really. Don't you ever change, Bethesda.
Rumor @ May 18th 2009 10:15AM
lol! so true...now nintendo wii owners can enjoy bethesda's dull role-playing-games like everyone else.
Jerk Face @ May 18th 2009 10:54AM
Don't get me wrong - Fallout 3 is a game dear to my heart. I've played the Hell out of it, and Broken Steel is REALLY good. But to say that Bethesda's games don't all have wonky looking character models and some super fucked up bugs would be a complete lie!
Peekay @ May 18th 2009 11:39AM
I once stacked so many speed potions in Morrowind that my game crashed once I pressed forward.
It was fun.
